Snag that FPR from palmdale. Thats a pretty good deal. Ill bet that it helps alot. Good point about the 3-4k rev thing. If its acting like its bouncing off a rev limiter there and will not rev beyond its in limp mode because of the MAF. I had to deal with this when I put mine together. I had some bad maf wiring. Your right though, it does sound much better! Nice project btw!! Evan

Saw you posted in another thread that you were running a stock FPR. Can you do a file of you revving your car without the bov connected? Its kinda hard to tell if its running rich because of the vented BOV or because fuel pressure is all outta wack. Dude that is some serious black smoke LOL. Evan

Hmm ill check out the collar when I pull it apart. I am running a z32 transmission btw with rb26dett bellhousing. There is not much related to clutch type. I have an exedy 6 puck btw. My problem is that my underhood temps are too high. Next weekend I am making a bunch of heatshields to solve this issue. Evan

Yeah if ANYONE is running a big pump replace the regulator. I have an intank walboro pump and I know several people who had problems before swapping to an aftermarket regulator. If you search for the nismo unit your golden. Evan

Need a picture of a RB25DET speedo sensor
Evan Purple240zt replied to 240Z_Master's topic in Nissan RB Forum
The output on that speedo gear will be fine with any speedometer that will allow you to calibrate it. I calibrated my S14 speedo with a GPS and its almost perfect. It does NOT matter which gear you are using if you have to calibrate your speedometer anyway (assuming your going electrical here). That speedometer drive looks like the right one... I had a NIB one from an RB trans for awhile. Looks identical. I paid 100 from nissan for mine. Just for the record, you do NOT need to have speedo signal to the ECU. The TPS switch does need to be hooked up unless you want your car to idle funny. Thats the switch that tells the motor to go into idle mode. Mine was set off by just a little bit and the idle was all crazy. My neutral wire is capped off, and VTC works fine. BTW, this is an rb25det S2 Evan -
You have a high volume pump right? You really need to get some sort of aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. The factory FPR does not have a high enough flow rate to sustain the lph from an aftermarket pump. Do not go above 14psi of boost else the wheels of the turbo disentegrate. You can use a nissan z31 turbo, its simaler size wise but has metal wheels. Set your base timing to 17 intead of 15 degrees. If you blow your motor up thats your problem. I did this before I bought my power FC and it did make the car run better. If you are not familiar with tuning, maybe its a better idea not to. The factory curves are very rich, and alot of power can be had with a good tune and EMS system. Evan

Good luck with that. I am sure someone saw that I had done that over on racebread.com with my car. It would NOT work for me. The clutch always released at the very end of the clutch travel. I have now found that there is some sort of hydraulic problem in my system so I am not 100% sure that the slave cyl. was my actual issue. Give it a try, the bore size of the honda slave is much smaller than the rb25 unit. IMO do not bother and call Mckinney motorsports and get a nismo slave from them. After all the time and effort wasted I wish I had done the same up front. Take it easy - Evan

Use evercoat Z-Grip Very inexpensive (under 30 a gallon at carquest auto parts) and sands like a dream. Sanding the old red bondo brand is like sanding on a sidewalk. The Evercoat Metal Glaze is a great final filler. Evan

Terry, good call on the resin situation. I wondered why some of the hardner I had smelled so freaking bad. Time to throw it out! My freind is a long-time body man and whenever he does any work on a glass corvette he shoots primer on it and it sits for at least 6 months before he will top coat it because the glass likes to ripple and he seems to think it helps to wait. I have seen the vettes he has done, and they are beautiful even 5-6 years later so I belive him. Its been along time since I frequented the site, and I am refreshed by the level and amount of good quality posts here! Evan

My car is Painted!!! Lots of pics!! (Edit New Pics!)
Evan Purple240zt replied to Garrett76Zt's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Aw, snap Whos that beautiful man shooting primer anyway? let me know if you need anymore help etc. Im glad that the base didn't tiger stripe. Evan -
Scottie, ive been in the same boat. I considered selling my z about three months ago to make way for a bimmer or something. I have to say I am really sad to hear that there will be no more GNZ. If you get a different ride, and stop showing up at z events, I will be seriously upset. Its a sad day... and this will always be your home. I guess I also wanted to say thank you for all your help in the past, and all your help in the future! you are one of the few hybridz members that I look up too.. Evan

How big of an injector will I need?
Evan Purple240zt replied to Evan Purple240zt's topic in 6 Cylinder Z Forums
Interesting info guys, maybe the 420s will work just fine. I was shooting for 400rwhp though. Thanks - Evan -
Guys, ive been told my 420s will be too small for my hp goals. My goals are an extremely lofty 400hp. I would like to have injectors that will support that plus some, i dont like doing things twice. I am also prepared to do the oring fuel rail thing. Thanks guys - Evan

has anyone fabricated kickpanels for speakers?
Evan Purple240zt replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Ill try to get the stuff finished (its apart for a little finishing during winter) the plan is to finish the kicks so they are paintable and make em black, purple or whatever. The setup I had in there wasnt the prettiest thing in the world but mighty functional. The back looks badass, but the kicks are getting finished, and im molding the door pod into the door panel, then for vinyl. Ill post some pics, but dont expect the taj mahal... yet at least LOL. Have you guys seen any lit on the new eclipse decks for 03', they now offer a deck with 16v balanced out, full dsp, and all processing including tone in the digital domain. Best part.. 549 retail! I cant wait to get one, too bad employee purchase for eclipse sucks! Rockford now has an SQ line of amps out, they have built in DSP's that offer delay etc... cool part being you can delay tweeters seperately from the mids etc.. very trick. They are cashy though! Later skaters - evan -
has anyone fabricated kickpanels for speakers?
Evan Purple240zt replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Guys been there done that.. ive experiemented alot with my system in my z. I ended up putting 6.25" cast frame vifa woofers in the doors for midbass, and vifa 3" soft dome mids in my kicks with morel tweeters. The vifas dont require an enclosure and are very skinny. Works like a champ and i dont notice they are there. I do compete sq btw. My system is as follows. Clarion 9255 (McIntosh deck in cognito) Butler tube driver line driver, crossover, and amps I used the balanced cables and i dont have any noise. Eclipse subwoofer mounted in the fiberglass box in the spare tire well. This system is somewhat unobtrusive, sounds good and looks cool. BTW, i have focal/morel in my acura cl and they havent blown yet (although i have a pair of extra focal mids incase) the morel tweets can take serious abuse and get loud when called on! Ill try to take pics if anyone posts in interest! Thanks guys - Evan -
I have a used K2 HID kit at work for sale. I do belive its the 9006 or the 9005 bulb. It came out of the lowbeams of a tahoe. My customer didnt think the light was purple enough, so he bought the CATZ HID kit. Must be nice to be able to be that picky! Anyways, the kits 6 months old, and for sale for 300 bucks. (Im half tempted to give it a shot in my acura!) Thanks guys - Evan

Guys, call me at work at 309-836-6299, and make sure you tell me who you are on the phone so you dont confuse the crap out of me LOL. Rockford sub used, depending on the model is around 40-50 bucks. This is provided it is in very good condition. Give me a model, tell me whether its dual voice coil or single. For small things like that sub, i would reccomend selling it to a friend. Len, i have a TON of four channels. Ive got a hifonics europa in mind for you (was a freinds amp, and he traded it in used.) Ive also got a butler tube driver four channel. Then ive got lots of new stuff. Call me, and ill be happy to hook you up! Evan

New Rims..dove head first off cliff

BLING BLING!! Nice choice scott! No dubs, whatsup wit dat? haha Evan PS. makes my OZs look totally limpdick LOL. -
Well folks, I know i have been gone from the board for quite sometime now. I have opened a new business, and been super busy with no z time. Business is becoming more stable, and my car is in the showroom. Its warm in here, the z looks lonely so its time to start wrenching again. I will probabally hit the dyno within the next two months, I have a goal. My goal is to have a car that will run high 11s on the track and make high 300s for horsees. I think I have made a few iffy oversights on my car so let me run down my mods and then tell you what im concerned about. My motor is bored to 2.95 liters with dished ross pistons that puts me at a 8.5 compression. I also used the longer 240 rods in this motor. I am using SDS, 420cc injectors and a bigass fuel pump. My sds will be sent off to be converted to coil pack next week. 3" exhaust including the downpipe is what Ive got. My concerns: NPR intercooler, its the larger of the silver ones. It is plumbed with 2.25" mandrel bent tubing. How bad is the HP loss with this thing, and the pressure drop etc.. i know its better than nothing but if im losing 30hp i wont be happy. Stock cam, i have heard you guys speak of the isky cam, whasup with that? Anyone seen any major improvements, or would I? The idea of camming this motor makes me smile Mystery t3/t4 turbo. No idea what this SOB is but its got VERY low miles on it (got it used) and the exhaust housing is a stock AR. Seems like it may be too small for what I want to do. I hear speak of the 60-1 hifi, how much is one and who do I call. 420cc injectors... large enough? I would like to swap now what is blatantly problematic, the dyno is like 2 hours away and not cheap. Would make me happy to make as much as i can of the situation on the first try rather than spending 700 bucks at the dyno this summer hate to sound like a newbie, but ive been away for quite sometime and feel like ive missed alot! Thanks gents - Evan BTW, my business is car audio. I am an eclipse authorized dealer and a rockford fosgate authorized dealer. I can get other stuff too, including lots of used equipment in on trade so if you need anything let me know!

Guys, lately i have done quite a bit of fiberglass work, so i will share my experience. www.fibreglast.com is THE place to go on the internet for this type of tools, materials etc. Makes me laugh when i look at select products pricing now. The old way I used to do it was to make a "frame" out of wood, or whatever the hell i had lying around. I then wrapped the unit in fiberglass mat, or fleece (depending on whether it was a box or kick panels). Once you are happy with the contours of the piece, resin the thing. I tend to use a moderate amount of hardner for this stuff, i dont like to wait but also dont want the cure to be sacrificed. Finishing... I used to use body filler and sand away to my hearts content. This is long, tedious and pretty boring honestly. Use guide coats like when doing filler on a car, it will show you your mistakes etc.. THe way i do it now is with a fibreglast.com two part gel-coat gun. I really need that chopper too hope this helps, its not easy but more time consuming for the most part. Well im glad I asked! Seems a consensus that the audis are prone to faliure. I refuse to purchase a used vehicle for 16k and then spend another 4k in the next year in repairs LOL. Hell, I can spend 13k and buy another GN and have it be reliable. I think the bimmer 3 series would be badass, but ive heard horror stores about these things in snow. I live in the boonies, and snow is a big issue in illinois. Anyone care to comment? At this point, im still considering the new Mazda6 which looks absolutely goregous. Honestly, whatever I buy will be modded to all he** so used is probabally better. If i go turbo, i will mod, if i go n/a I will probabally end up spraying it. There are so many choices, i just want a good daily driver, sporty and comfy. My gn was comfy, but the ergonomics just didnt do it for me! Maybe ill just drop 10k on a sweet gn again, and pay off 25% of the house instead.. who knows. Thanks gents - Evan BTW feel free to suggest vehicles! I am open to anything used (maybe new) but no way anything over 25k.

Guys, give me some opinions on the A4. I am looking for a new daily driver, and have the cash for one after i sell my 91 custom harley springer soft tail. If anyone owns one let me know what you thought of reliability and build quality of this thing. I am torn between 6cyl and 4turbo. They both have appeal to me. This car WILL get riced out though so beware LOL. Evan

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHhh On second look, the back tire is flat. That probabally wouldnt be the deal breaker in that situation though LOL> Evan
