Well for me external waste gates are actually better if you are going to have a build turbo engine plus also gives you room to add a bigger turbo if disiered and they let you run a little more boost. The 280z intake manifold has no EGR which gives room for an external waste gate plus the manifold is smaller takes less room. I know when I have the money to really modify my engine I'm going to do the external waste gate on mine.
  2. There really is not much to worry about Just cut that little piece like a square shape so it just goes around the steering box I have a T3/T04E turbo nothing really different but it fits fine with no problems at all you can always buy an external waste gate!
  3. naviathan, that site helps a lot make sure to read it plenty of times I did the full turbo swap on my non turbo 81 280zx as well it's pretty simple and straight forward. You can also use the non turbo tranny if you like also subframe is interchangable the turbo models used a R200 3.54 diff make sure to check what kind you have.
  4. I agree those aftermarket tail light add ons were hidious. I have both pair of lights too as the above picture, there were some 79-81 tail lights like the ones on the left of the picture that were clear but were rare and hard to find I'm guessing they discontinued them for some time now.
  5. This is weird I saw this website of a guy who had a 81 280zx turbo 5 speed with a 12 injector set up.   8. obviously i had not been that many times to L.A. to see flame throwing exhaust systems besides when cars backfire I'm almost 700 miles away from L.A. and its been way too long since i have seen this, i don't totally disagree its more like 50/50 like dislike.
  9. The guy has more videos uploaded even one where he shows off flames coming out the exhaust, you gonna think for a minute here Mexico doesn't really have good shops well maybe a few. I've seen these cars well fully restored but there are shops that will cut parts off other donor cars and do a terrible job. They use bondo like crazy to fix cars so you can amagin after a while. Oh and you go to a auction place to find parts for your car while your looking they will literally steal parts off your own car. And please sent the tard a comment if you got a youtube account so he knows whats up.
  10. Delete this if you want but wanna share a videos of this guy from Mexico that dissed on some 280zx's for being original see this for yourself and give me your thoughts about it. See how too much body work gets to some peoples heads no offense to anyone here but this by far the worse 280zx I've seen.

My set up is pretty much stock besides Z31 300zx ECU & MAF, T3/T04E turbo, with the L28ET, my plans are not really set but as of now i might be using a different L28ET motor from a 81 280zx turbo already rebuild. The motor I have on now was pretty much a test motor but it needs a rebuild it has around 300,000 miles head & piston rings are bad, these motors are delicate to detonation so be carefully not to run too much boost. I took my pop off valve off, it created a boost leak past 7psi, it pretty much keeps the motor from detonating but if you run it at a save boost level like 8psi you will be fine. I've ran my car at 10psi and it doesn't run good it really needs that intercooler and if your gonna keep that turbo then I suggest to run a small intercooler for less lag.
  12. I did the N/A to turbo swap, it's basically hands down very simple if you have everything you need to swap the motor in. My 81 280zx came stock with a R200 3.90 diff and yeah it can hold the power very well. I did the full swap meaning the L28ET, T-5 tranny, driveshaft, CV axles, & rear turbo brakes.
  13. Just wanna throw this out there but my 2nd 280zx turbo I bought last year from Sacramento had hks hypermax D coilovers on the rear but only needed a small adjustment to fit right.

  18. Ha! there you go the man just proved he got his for free, beautiful find man couldn't of got any luckier than that! Yeah yeah he did pretty much pay for it but with work so it all works different ways but same result.
  19. Even funnier when people expect to get a lot for a car that's just not worth much at all, I love my car and I wouldn't sell it even if they offered me a decent amount. People just put insane prices on S30's and even some S130's, ask a few people here most of us get 280zx pretty cheap or even almost given to us. One thing is true you can't expect to get what you put into a car no matter what it is, why you think they take so long to sale?
  20. I'm just not used to seeing 280zx that high on price with or without performance parts. It's a really nice car no doubt.
