YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THAT CARPET IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE I HAVE THE SAME COLOR SO THANKS FOR THE SNEAK PEEK AT WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE.

HEY GUYS I UNPLUGGED MY CHTS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR RAN WAY BETTER, THE ONLY ISSUE NOW IS THAT AT TIMES IT FEELS LIKE IT LOOSES POWER. WHEN I RUN IT TO ABOUT 4K RPM AT EVERY GEAR IT WILL FEEL KINDA ROUGH, AND THATS WHEN ITS WARMED UP BUT THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL GO AWAY AND WILL RUN GOOD AGAIN. I HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE BUT IT WAS WORSE, WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD IT RAN HOW IT SHOULD NICE AND STRONG BUT WHEN WARMED UP THE CAR RAN LIKE CRAP LIKE SUFFICATED AND AGAIN AT 4K RPM IT FELT ROUGH LIKE IF IT WAS ON THE REDLINE? ANY IDEA ON WHAT IT COULD BE? I HAVE THE RIGHT O2 SENSOR WITH THE 3 WIRES BUT ITS NOT COPPER WELDED IN, ITS KINDA LOOSE ON THE FLANGE. DON'T KNOW IF I NEED THE CHTS FROM A Z31 HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! P.S. MY ECU IS A 87 Z31 TURBO ECU & MAF.

I've done this bumper swap on my 81 280zx but only the rear bumper haven't found a front bumper yet, its real simple, the shocks bolt pattern is the same all I did was unscrew em and came right off but since the 3 piece bumper has the side pieces and there's 2 plastic plugs holding the pieces on each side top and bottom, you take those off but you cannot use them on older models, I can't remember if the plugs were squared or rounded but when I went to put em on my car they did not fit I just zip tied mine for now see for yourself I got after and before to prove it can be done. Yeah I noticed they fit closer to the front end that's why I wanna get my hands on one and the shocks if possible?!!

is there such a website that sells the split colored signal lights and also those JDM & UK style black and polished metal bumpers, I'm trying to make my own set by cutting off the those big Bolges on the front & back bumpers

I never even thought about half the stuff you mentioned, that's a huge help thank you very much I appeciate the help I will check it and there was that chance I would go back to stock because it never runs right no matter what I do only when it hasn't warm up enough it's kinda ok I'd say like 45-50% good but thank. For the help again.

My Car has been having problems running well, it's doesn't feel like it should basicly when I start running in first gear the car has no power at taking off. I've used like 4 different maf's but I ended up using My adjustable maf because they pretty much did the samething. To be honest I have no idea if the chopper wheel was even installed since I got the motor from a donor car that had the Z31 ecu maf swap so I didn't bother to change it to stock. And I did notice there was a wire running to the fuel pump on the donor car is that another reason for my car running like crap? Could anyone supply good pictures of the accuall procedure that would help a lot I know it's kinda dumb for me to ask I just don't know where everything is at and what I need to remove or add.

You know I have not tried that I will do that, I was thinking of running Nistune for the Z31 ecu I have installed already. But I still have a stock ecu for the 83 turbo so I guess I do that too thanks you very much for the help.

Hello guys, I got a 1981 280zx non turbo I did a L28ET swap to and been having some real stressful problems with the motor here's a brief story: So I purchased a 83 280zx Turbo as a donor car in California, the car had upgrades like 87 Z31 ECU & MAF T3/T04E Turbo 3 inch exhaust & Koyo aluminum radiator. Ever since I got my 81 280zx back after the motor swap it's been having major studdering issues even when I put my foot down all the way on accelerator there's no go. I'm running stock boost anything before hitting 5 pounds of boost is all good but past 5 pounds the car seems weak and kinda slows down, also running really rich there's always that gassy smell. I did my research on the Z31 ECU & MAF swap & the commen problems behind it and did all the corrections and still have the same problems. The Z31 ECU & MAF were already installed and if I try to go back to stock I would need to replace the MAF connector which I don't have since it's been switch to the Z31. So my question is what am I doing wrong here, am I forgetting something???

I just did a full on turbo swap to my 81 280zx N/A and put the rear brakes from my 83 280zx turbo donor car from the subframe and I can tell you made a bit of difference nothing huge oviously but better than stock N/A brakes stops on the dime and didn't have to alter anything so try that or just look on eBay!

Oh yeah I like it way better than stock, not that I had a problem with the stock shifter but a great improvement I haven't had the opportunity to really see what it can do at 100% because my car is running like crap right now but I will say it feels nice that 1st 2nd & 3rd go in super smooth without much effort with a nice solid feel to it, I can also lower the shifter another inch it has 3 bolt holes I have it bolt up to the first 2, there's also other kind of shifter levers don't have to be the bent one I got but that's how you get best shifting experience plus it's a true brand name, yeah there made for mustangs but that's why I recommend it to anyone with a T-5 in there Z. Just check out there website for the Tri- Ax short shifter, if you do order one make sure you put it's going in a 83 mustang gt that way they know the right one to get you I'm sure there the same for all T-5's but never hurts to tell em anyway. Trust me you will get your moneys worth because they still make em for all mustangs and not like those underground short shifters you see on eBay for a low price that ain't me I have a ford loving family & friends so I trust a lot on these products.

Hmm good thinking, I really wanted to use the same boot I got an extra one that I wanna mess around with but if not I'll get some good fabric and make one, I want to lower the shifter a little still got another space to lower it maybe that I cab use my original but sure feels nice to shift in 1st-2nd & 3rd.
