  1. So today i just got a VQ35DE from a buddy that works at Nissan for $200, not a bad deal at all the only problem with the engine is that it has bent valves from being timed wrong & has no Plenum other than that its a pretty good engine. I searched but didn't find anyone doing a build on a S130, only found builds on S30 chassis. I do recall finding some pictures of someone putting a VQ35 in a S130 but thats all i found no info, so i'm guessing i might have to base my build mostly off the S30. I'm going to be picking up the rest of the coils and some bolts, but i will need to find everything else myself. Transmission, ECU, Wiring Harness etc... Anyway here are some pictures of the motor!
  2. Holy crap for real! Hey Skib I might be buying a 73 240z and a VQ35 for $400 bucks, the Z still starts and runs, but needs radiator and a lot of body work. The VQ has about 50k has bend valves, needs the plenum, ECU, wiring harness, & tranny and will be going into my 280zx
  3. Yeah seen that set up before but other than that don't know what else It could have.
  4. By any chance does anyone know the specs/setup on this 280ZX at 1990 Speed Week at Bonneville Salt Flats? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTERwqj2U-M&sns=em
  5. If you have a T5 tranny in your car i recommend the Steeda Tri-Ax Short Shifter, I felt a slite difference in shifting but I use Royal Purple in my tranny. I'm curious to try the mobile 1 synthetic oil in my tranny now.
  6. Thanks guys for the fast responses, I've Always wanted a 240z since it's one of my dream cars and I knew it was a heck of a deal just wanted to get a professional opinion on it. Doubling my money if the car is unrepairable or affordable to me is a great idea, but I really do hope I can turn it into a DD.
  7. Hello there everyone, don't post on the S30 section too much as I don't own a S30 but I got a chance to buy a S30 from a guy that I know. I did some research of my own just to get somewhat of a feel of what I'm getting myself into. The Z is a 1973 240z from what he told me so far, all original still has the motor in it will start and run but needs a radiator, needs the carbs Fixed, has some rust on the floorboards and on the usual spots prone to rust. So here is the deal he wants $550 for it but is willing to sell it to me for $400 bucks, not only do I get the car but I also get a VQ35 both car & VQ for $400. The VQ needs new Valves as they are bent, needs a plenum, wiring harness, computer & the tranny. The VQ has aftermarket cams already done to It mileage is around 50-60k not sure on year. So my question really is would you guys jump on it, or would it be too much of a hassle to fix up the VQ and get all what I need to do an engine swap? Not to worried about the Z it would be a great first actual project for me, oh and the VQ will be going in my 280zx not the 240z. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
  8. Nice build bro!!! I would like to drop an RB26 in my 280zx one day when I have the money for it, keep up the progress.
  9. Wonder if there were any actual 280zx turbo slick top models out of factory cuz I've seen a jdm version on the Internet?
  10. You can find all those videos on YouTube just gotta search S130 or fairlady 280z, I find a lot of drag videos of 280zx's with RB26 swaps or all motor 11 sec drags!
  11. It most probably is a 3.90 if it's a R200 out of a non turbo, that's what my 81 2 seater is.
  12. You can take off the relief valve off like I did and go to Lows or any household store and match up the thread size, there should be some parts there you can try out before you buy it.
  13. Yes good to know this too! I'm thinking of installing Tokicos on my ZX as well.
  14. It ain't daily you got a huge blower in front of you while dragging your S130
  15. I'm always finding these 280zx's on YouTube, I think it's from Mexico and at least they did a good job on the doors and the hood is pretty unique!
  16. Here's another interesting S130, it's better than the other S130 that had the glitter paint job.
  17. Ha ha ha, well at least give em credit for the effort. Just take those hidious wheels and Repaint.
