  1. Better check to see if it's still on. They may have rescheduled it too! Click below O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nat'ls rescheduled for weekend of July 6-8 (New Launch area not ready)
  2. OK Cole, Cozy Z Cole, now you're closer than Dr. Hunt...that means, NO EXCUSES for missing an SEZ Shootout. He made it, you can too. Start planning now...next meet, March 08. Hope it works out. Warren
  3. The info you're speculating about is in the article embedded in the ebay listing... I'll quote it for you, it's accuracy or validity is not guaranteed. "On May 3rd at the U.S. Headquarters of Nissan Motors in Gardena, CA they introduced the first of the factory-refurbished 240 Z's. Introduced in 1970 the sticker price of a New 240Z was $3,526, the refurbished Z's will run $24,950. The cars, 200 of them, are being done by Pierre'Z Service Center in Southern CA. And will be sold through 10 Nissan dealers designated as "Z Stores". After the Z's were selected from across the country (many came from Arizona and areas similar due to the more rust free condition) they are fully disassembled, then each part is inspected and inventoried. The unibody is inspected, repaired if necessary and then dipped and painted. From there any parts needing replaced are ordered (yes they have access to parts we don't). Everything is kept as original with the exception of tires, (hard to find the original size) and a few other suspension parts (busings, struts). The other difference is a small sticker on the quarter window and an emblem on the center console designating it as an official Nissan refurbished Z. Nissan cut the restorations off after about 40 cars were completed. Short of their initial goal of 200 they still definatly managed to remind people of the part that the 240Z played in automotive history."
  4. Sorry Pete, I can't answer that one, since I've never had the axles to turn my viscous unit with. Perhaps someone else can answer...and sorry about (semi)hi-jacking the thread. Warren
  5. I just KNEW somebody would ask that... Here is a comparison between the right shafts and the wrong shafts for the VLSD. The shafts at the top are for the VLSD. The bottom ones are for the CLSD. If you don't have the right shafts for the VLSD, it just won't work properly. PERIOD! (some will say it will work, but there is a possibility of one of them coming out as the snap rings that actually hold them in won't engage).

  7. What happens to the hall effect sensor as a result of the EM field that you'll be creating with all those magnets in such close proximity to it? That's the real question...
  8. I hear ya...but just for the record, I've got dibs on the first set that come available as a result of this post....hehe (considering I've been looking for them for about 4 years now, it's unlikely, but you never know who has what laying around.) Warren
  9. Yep, sure is. Got the axles for it? I just put a 3.70 CLSD in my car this afternoon, but would rather have used the viscous model...(have both here, but no axles for the VLSD).
  10. Looks like it's viscous... This is what the Viscous LSD inners look like from an R200 Nissan...(the one I can't seem to get axles for)... Warren

  12. Davy, The pleasure was mine. I hope you can cut a great deal with the company to make it here. It'd be nice to have another HybridZer join the local community. Enjoyed meeting you and hope the info you gathered actually helped. Warren
  13. Believe it or not, that was actually an option on the 280ZX. I have one, brand new, never installed, still in the Nissan box, sitting in my garage. Never seen it on a Z (as in S30, non ZX) before, but I'm relatively sure it would fit. Warren
  14. Congrats Glenn, but don't thank me, all I did was more or less direct the traffic, you and your Father did all the hard work. I appreciate your willingness to allow me to assist. It was indeed a pleasure to work with you. Although I must admit, I almost had a heart attack right there in the garage when the hoist hit the ground. I could just see it tagging the front end of the car on it's way down. Luckily, the only chip it took out was in the garage floor. For what it's worth, my tranny went in today as well, so that part is done, and that piece of hose is exactly what the doctor ordered. Thank you again. Now lets get that header fixed. Stay in touch, Warren
  15. Not ME, "The Professor"... WJ heads to The Hall ... Congrats!!!
  16. Unincorporated West Cobb county isn't that bad either...ALOT less traffic than Alpharetta, Fulton & Roswell, lower taxes, fewer people, bigger lots, malls galore, close enough to everything, yet far enough away from the major traffic jambs...just another option. If you think about Kennesaw (just northeast of me), bring your gun...it's the law...seriously...heads of households are supposed to own a gun to purchase a home or property. A recent article sheds some light on it. Click All in all, location is everything, alot of new homes all over the area, ranging from $150,000 to well over $1,000,000...visit, look around during rush hours and listen to local traffic reports on WSB 640 AM while you're driving. Nightmares occur daily on the interstates, especially 285 & 400. Oh, also remember, Atlanta drivers are instant idiots, just add water...
  17. Thanks Glenn, PM sent. Warren
  18. Ok folks, I'm almost to the point of begging now...this is ridiculous. I can't seem to find a single piece of -6AN braided steel hose anywhere in Atlanta. Summit is out of stock, the ship date has moved back twice already, Jegs charges an $11.00 "handling" charge on a $15 piece of hose...not acceptable. So I have to ask around... I'm lacking one 6 to 10 foot piece of -6AN braided steel hose that's stopping me from installing my transmission and cooler. Anybody local to Atlanta (Marietta +/- 25 miles or so) have a piece laying around that they're not using right now and willing to sell me? I'm going in for some surgery pretty quick and would like to get this thing in before I go. I know this should probably be in the "wanted" section, but I'm desperate enough right now to put it in Non-Tech. Chime in if you can help. Thanks, Warren
  19. Only problem with the 4 bolt install thing is that it'll allow dirt, grime, road debris and HEAT to come up through the tunnel and ruin the shifter mechanism which is supposed to be kept clean and greased. Box it in and forget about it.

    C06 Fiche

    Flywheel/Flexplate diagram
  21. Actually, if I recall it properly, that big washer isn't used on the 5 speed version. It's only used on the automatic, and goes in the place you have it, behind the flexplate. refer: http://carfiche.com/fiche009/s130/2/c06.gif Go to fiche #2 c 6, parts 27 & 31 The 5 speed has NO spacer between the crank and the flywheel either. The parts in the diagram above are #27 & 31, neither of which is used on the 5 speed. They make up the differences between the thickness of a flywheel and a flex plate, and add strength to the flimsy flexplate used on the automatic. Hope it helps. Warren
  22. Thanks for the info, however, if you were to replace the gas shocks on the hatch with new ones, it would probably hold it up just fine. I replaced mine with new ones and it'll just about smack you in the chin on its way up if you're not careful, and it's not all that easy to get it moving on the way down. The newer shocks are ALOT stronger. I guess I'll find out eventually.
  23. I know the guy who won it, personally. The seller had the shipping charges inflated because he used box sizes that were larger than necessary. He's adjusting the box sizes and it'll ship for less.
