B&M shifter trans tunnel cut out question
Warren replied to gretchen/jason's topic in Fabrication / Welding
Yes it can be done, I just did it. Notice how much farther in front of the shifter the box has to be made. This allows enough room for the cable bracket that sticks out in front of the shifter without binding the cable. The box is about 2.5" deep x 11" long and 3.5" wide. I used the stock shifter mounting plate, cut out the middle (where the stock shifter was), and mounted everything back in the stock positions. It sits about 1/16" higher than the stock shifter did, but it's right in the correct place. Please excuse the carpet and filth in there right now...it'll all get straightened out shortly. I'll get a few more pics once the carpet, seats & console are put back in place. Warren -
Oil Restrictor/Turbo Feed Line - Will this kit work?
Warren replied to ktm's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Thanks NChris, I couldn't remember where I saw that little puppy. I have one of those on my car and it works well. No leaks, no plumbing nightmares, very easy. Thanks, Warren -
Those aren't the same as the MSA or Victoria British ones. They mount with only 1 screw, instead of the 4 that the more common ones mount with and use a circular gasket (solid, not just a straight piece that looks split when installed). I once found a clear set of them on ebay, bought them, they showed up with the right one destroyed beyond repair. Haven't seen another clear set since. 1 left headlight cover is about useless, unless you already have a set and are replacing a cracked one. Needless to say, just more crap on the shelf in the garage (until I find another set or a right side one). Warren

Oil Restrictor/Turbo Feed Line - Will this kit work?
Warren replied to ktm's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
If you're using an L series, that is the right adapter...the 1/8" BSPT is for where the oil feed line hooks to the block. i.e..at the oil pressure sending unit port on the right side of the motor. It is threaded BSPT, NOT NPT, thus the adapter. Hope it helps, Warren -
Personally speaking, after spending quite a bit of time with Jon and his wife, before, during and after SEZ 8, I don't know how ANYBODY could say ANYTHING bad about the guy. He's more than willing to help anybody out at any time and definitely knows what he's doing out there. I saw NOTHING in the Pinks episode that would have warranted a slanderous comment from some clown on the west coast who has never even met the guy. Nuff sed. Warren

I saw it when it was first posted and until it was "moderated". I agree one meeeeelion percent...it warranted being deleted and the user banned as he signed up just to slander someone. We don't need no stinking slanderers here. (I've been watching too many movies late at night here of late). I would have deleted it myself, but I'm only a mere moderator, not an admin. (I can only moderate the Motorsports/SEZ Events Forum). Doc took care of it for us though. Thanks Doc! Warren

WRONG...make sure you use FUEL INJECTION hose and FUEL INJECTION clamps...they completely surround the hose with a SOLID band...the serrated bands (screw type) will cut into the hoses and cause leaks. They are available from most auto parts stores. Also, when cutting off the existing hoses, they'll appear to be "glued" on (due to heat and age). Be sure not to cut into the barbed injector nipple itself. If you do, you may actually cause a leak by fuel passing through the slice after you're done...i.e., cut only deep enough to cut through the hoses, not deep enough to gouge the barb itself. Be sure use to reinstall the cups at the top of the hoses, it helps keep moisture out of the threads in the hose itself, thus eliminating them from rotting and weakening so fast. Just a bit of friendly advice. Warren

Russa's posts do not show up to Non-Admin/moderators, so now you guys have a bunch of people asking "WTF are they talking about?"... Gotta love when deleted posts disappear that way.

Here ya go folks. A little video of our very own 1 QUICK Z on Youtube. This video is of their BIG wheeled car. For you guys who don't know, Jon has 2 cars...not just the one you'll see on Pinks on April 4th. This is the one that wasn't on the show. If the track wasn't so hot at SEZS #8, Jon planned on putting the gas to it and trying to better his times...TOTALLY understandable why he didn't after seeing all the other cars sliding around. Maybe next time it'll be cooler. Congrats on the 7's Jon. Warren

remove the = between the and http:... Sorry about the confusion...if I didn't put the = in there, it would show as a hyperlink...

I've aleady offered to bring Garrett my R200 from my car if he needs it. he said he wants to check locally tomorrow first. Either way, we'll get him back on the road. Warren

My sentiments exactly... if it doesn't look right, you'll worry about it, whether it works at first or not. Ease your mind and worries by correcting it now and forgetting about it. Nothing worse than wondering when it's gonna fail because you skipped correcting something easy at first. Just a personal view. Warren

SAD SAD NEWS... Eric Medlin, 33, NHRA Funny Car Driver for John Force's Team... Story What a horrible loss.

OK, Jon has been called and notified...he's starting to load 'em up right now. THANKS GUYS... Warren

After seeing that thing launch and carry the front end to almost half track, I can't imagine why you'd say that Doc, although I can about imagine what the landings to to front end parts. Get all of that work done by next September, as you're EXPECTED to be at the next SEZ Shootout (#9). No more lame "paint jail" excuses...hehehe Warren

Maybe a small donation from the gate proceeds if all agreed? There are NO proceeds from the gate...we never see that money, it goes to straight from the attendees to the the track itself for the track rental. I spoke with Jon a couple of days ago and offered to pick up his hotel expenses myself personally, if need be. You guys are right, it would be a great show to see at least one of his cars run at the event. I can understand his dilema. I'd be willing to chip in another C-note out of my own pocket to help get him down here, so that makes 4 out of 5 needed. His technical expertise would be invaluable to everyone. Anybody else want to help witht the cause? Warren

pull up the pic in the gallery, right click it and copy the properties of it...then use the img /img tags pasting the properties between... use the [ and ] before and after the img and /img .... like [ img ]=http://blahblahblah.jpg [ /img ] (without the spaces and the = between the ] and h)...done.

This is what the Hyundai side markers look like. Note, this is on a ZX. The flash on the markers makes them look kinda wierd, but if you notice the pic with the headlight in it, you can see how thin they really are.

The decklid on the 2+2 is at a more steep angle and therefore requires a different spoiler...also, notice the size difference in the rear hatch glasses between the coupe and 2+2...the 2+2 is MUCH shorter top to bottom. If anyone needs a good 2+2 rear glass, I have one here...that I'll NEVER use. Warren

OK, Progress report...the transmission crossmember brackets have been made and installed. Still need to stiffen up the interior side a bit, just as a precaution, as those suckers aren't going anywhere anyway, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. With any luck, I'll get the interior buttoned up again tomorrow and build the tranny. I finally got the 90 degree speedo cable adapter in. Who knows, I might get the car done in time afterall, and if not, it won't be for lack of trying. Warren

Wayne, Thanks for the offer. I'm determined that I'm gonna put this damn 2004R that I've got so much in into the car and drive it there. I'm running short on time, but not determination. I'll get there, one way or the other. John, Thanks for reminding me. My heater valve (water cock) is leaking...that means I get to remove the dash again too "while I'm at it"... It never ends, does it? Warren
