You would think so, but I put a speedo cable into a 12v electric drill, and tried reaming the crap out of the tube, but I couldn't get passed the blockage. -
Yeah, I'm always getting the e-mails about the Saturday meetings, and I would love to attend, except I work every Saturday

I would double-check the gas tank if it's not getting any fuel. The one I recently picked up had gas sitting in it for 14 years, and that thing was trash...no hope for it at all. Observe: A way to check is to pull the return and feed hoses from the tank, stick an air gun in the filler neck with a rag or something else around it to keep air from blowing back out, and shoot some compressed air down there for a few seconds. If all else fails and you want to do a temp fix, you drill and tap the drain plug hole to 1/4" pipe thread, and use a 1/4 pipe fitting with a 90* 3/8 barb on it. Hopefully it's just the pump, though. -
Well, it's finally painted! PIC'S AT LAST!!!!!

The air dam came off a 1975 280z I found in a junkyard. It's a urethane one - I'm not sure if they're made any more, but if they are, you could probably find them in a Victoria British / Black Dragon catalog. -
Suspicious LS1 auctions, HybridZers BEWARE!!!

Not to mention the same description verbatim. -
Yeah, I was a member of it, but I'm pretty sure it's expired. I tried to attend the meetings, but work and school always got in the way.

The color is the Ford Sonic Blue. It's the deep blue (with almost a hint of purple with the right lighting) that you see on the later model Focus, Mustang, and Rangers. It may be on a few others, but these three are the only one's I've seen. A few months ago I was driving a Mustang that had this color: New2TheZ2006 - You'll be happy, because I won't be running silver stripes. I'm planning on blue with a black accent, like black hood vents and a black spoiler. Instead of black hood vents, I may paint the hood black instead - I'm thinking about it. The fender vents are a tossup right now, I could go either way. I'll wait until later to decide on that.

Well, I had some more free time last weekend, here's a quick recap: Sanding, priming, spraying Got the door jams so far: The paint is actually a deep blue color, but the flash really lit it up. I took some without the flash, but they may be too dark to really see the color. If you have an LCD monitor, you should be able to make it out. There are a few small fisheyes here and there, but most will be hidden anyways. Motivation, rising, rising...

All I could find were: 3851325 on the main case, which means "1964 –1965 7/8" Bore Patent Number" and 3831707 on the side cover, meaning "1963-1965 Early side cover stud type shift shafts" The stamping where the main and tail cases meet looks like it's been hit with a punch or shot-peened, so I can't see what letter it is supposed to be there. Anywho, from what I've gathered so far, it appears to be an M20. I also noticed it has a Hurst shifter. I don't know if this was standard on these or not.

I talked to him some more, and he said he had some 40" swampers on the Bronco, so that could help explain the lower rpms He said he didn't know too many details about the tranny, except that it was pulled from a '72/'73 farm truck. Thanks Alf for that reference post - I'll check as soon as I can to see what type of tranny is in my widebody.

My '75 widebody project has a 4 spd Muncie. I've talked to another guy at work that had a Bronco with a BB and a 4 spd rock crusher, he said first gear was a stump puller (granny gear), 2nd gear would bog down, 3rd gear wasn't bad, and 4th gear was heavily overdriven. He said the rpms were pretty decent at 85 mph. I don't know if mine is the rock crusher or not, I'm about to do some more research to find out exactly what I have, but I know that we both have a long throw to shift gears - I mean mine literally moves the center console when I shift. Other than that, I plan on keeping the 4spd as long as it holds up to the abuse I'll be dishing out.

Nope, the car in my sig doesn't have an engine right now - notice the large hole in the block. It's currently awaiting a turbo engine.

I'm up around 183/Anderson Mill. My Zs, however, are scattered around everywhere.

What is your exhaust setup? I've had the same problem as you (maybe not as bad) but I would floor it in first and get no wheel spin. Even popping the clutch would just chirp the tires - they wouldn't stay spinning. Anyways, it turns out my exhaust was too restrictive. Needless to say, in conjunction with a better exhaust setup and lighter springs in the distributor, she'll light up first through second like nothing. I haven't even adjusted AFRs yet. To be honest, though, this does sound like a timing issue.

Aerodynamics DONATIONS NEEDED!!!
zeeboost replied to Mikelly's topic in Windtunnel Test Results and Analysis
It's not too late to donate, right? -
*sigh* ...of course Here's the link to the company that makes them in the uk http://www.mjpauto.com/280zx.html They've changed their format a bit since the last time I've been there, but it says at the bottom that the G-nose is still available from them.
-
For the 280zx?? Or the 240/260/280z?
-
UK I still haven't been successful in setting up a group buy for one. Shipping is very expensive, and I think the g-nose is around $700 ish. It's been a while since I last checked.

Yeah, no a/c used to not bother me, but after driving so many of them with functional cold air, no funny vibrations above 75mph, and a nice, factory cd/mp3 player (less worry about theft), I wonder why I still drive the Zs. 2003z - Your sig works me up every time I see that C6 next to the Z...YOU'RE NOT HELPING! jimbob - I forgot to mention, I drove an Acura RSX-S with 50k miles not too long ago, and that thing was a blast. I had trouble not doing 80mph when driving on the interstate, and the gas mileage was great. Best part was I could buy it for $13k - I'm starting to really regret that one. Here's today's temptations: '03 Cobra, 16,000 miles, could buy it for low 20K area & get an extended warranty. I really don't care for convertibles, but it's hard to say no to that Eaton. She ran pretty strong I didn't snap a pic of it, but we also received a silver '01 Z06, 29,000 miles, could also buy for low 20K area with an extended warranty I think most of these problems would be solved if I didn't work at a dealership

From the album: My money pits
v8 280zx -
I've been seeing a lot of posts around here about people buying new cars (350z, G35, Porsche, etc.). I've been thinking about it for a while now, anything from a C6, C5, Elise, G35, Yamaha R1, Heavy Z's Rx-7, '07 GT... Since I'm a tech at a Ford dealership, I can get a good deal on a new/used GT (even had a used 350z I almost bought). Any time I see something like this roll through the dealer, my gears start turning. It really gets me when I have to drive the customer's GTs - the easy driveability, functional a/c, and WARRANTY. BUT THEN, I TELL MYSELF, WELL THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS MUCH MONEY COULD DO TO ONE OF MY Z'S?? It really kills me to think what I could've bought by now, had I not been into Z's at all. I mean hell, I have 6 of them. I'm only planning on keeping 3, but still, 3 modified Z's built to run 12's or lower isn't exactly cheap. I think, instead of spending 10k on that yamaha R1, I could put that into my Lt1 and have a fully forged bottom end, kickass heads, and forced induction for my widebody. I can't get over that mental block! I force myself to continue driving cars without a/c, stiff suspension, poor emissions, leaks (both inside and out), etc. I'm trying to keep this rant-free, but I know I let a little slip out. So, do you guys have that same mental block? If so, how do you climb the wall? Mine is endless.

Only sold for 3 million...pfft. Too bad there wasn't an imprint of Jesus in the window's dust.
