  1. I'm currently working as an automotive technician, but I'm also going to school. I used to work at Baker Hughes in Yorktown, Tx - it was nice until they started laying off half the facility.
  2. Hmm...didn't think it would be that high. I don't wanna pay much more than that. Zip is 78626 Thanks
  3. I'll pay if you feel like shipping it, although I wouldn't blame you if it's local pickup only.
  4. I wish I would've taken that advice - I'm up to 6 Zs now...yeesh.
  5. I'm going to use it to pay for an intercooler, plumbing, and exhaust on my v8 turbo setup. Oh wait, this independent college student isn't getting a tax return this year. I forgot, after all the money they've taken out of my paychecks, I still owe them more.
  6. Wow, it's been a long time since I've looked at that site, but I remember seeing this 350z right whenever they first came out. I was thinking I could buy it and fix it easily - EXACT same car! Either their cars aren't selling, or it's a scam. I vote on the latter.
  7. I too, would recommend a cummins, but the 7.3 is a good engine. We have a few of them swing by the shop with over 300,000 miles and still running strong. I don't care too much for the 6.0 - it's junk IMO. It seems like a cummins would be an easier swap, too.

  9. I usually don't like it when an FD is molested, but I think this was tastefully done. I like it! http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2007/01/ohno-new-naomi-ii-oh-yes-its-mazda-rx-7.html
  10. What are you trying to say... If you're skeptical, the url is http://www.metalstorm.com/index.php?src=news&prid=77&category=Latest%20Video%20%26%20Live%20Firings
  11. I don't think this has been posted here before. I've seen this video a few years ago, but forgot to show you all, so before I forget again, here it is (it's a zip file): Freaking unbelievable! Plenty of other neat videos at http://www.metalstorm.com, but this one has always been my favorite.
  12. Get this - I just bought another Zx a couple of weeks ago (yes, I have 6 now) from a 21 year old girl, who saw the car in all of its faded paint glory, decided she wanted to buy it with her OWN money, as her only mode of transportation! It wasn't forced ownership! I didn't know girls that wanted an ugly, faded 280zx exist! BTW, she's only selling it because she blew a piston out of the block. Apparently, excessive oil starvation can cause this...who would've thought? She drove a month without oil - her boyfriend said the little red light was on because she needed to change it soon. She's still in the Z family, though, purchasing an '88 300zx to keep it going. As for my g/f, she wants to buy my '72 240zt. At first, we both were planning on the 2+2 to go to her after the paint job, but since its name is "Ugly", and because she can now see how it resembles a station wagon more than a coupe, I don't think she wants it anymore. I even offered to turbo it for her. Oh well... I don't think I can ever sell my '72 to her, though...or anybody else for that matter. She's too scared to drive my v8 280zx - she loves it when I push the car, but she's afraid she would lose it. She is a litte speed demon, though, and I'm proud to say I brought it out in her. Within a month of us dating, she went 130mph in her Probe GT.
  13. I would have asked the officer how the sr20 grew two more cylinders. What a riot. I would've had a lot of fun with the officer, which probably would have resulted in more nitpicking fines, but it would've been worth it...to me anyways.
  14. I'm a member of http://www.camaroz28.com. There are quite a few t/a owners over there as well, but I use it as a good source of information for the lt1/t56. There's some bs going on over there, but it's not that bad. So far, any question I've had about the lt1 has been answered over there via archives.
  15. The only type of racing that I can think of where the cable would be needed is rally racing, or some form of it. I was told, however, that the car was setup for the 1/4 mile. Why these would be needed for the 1/4, I can't figure out.
  16. Correct. I bought it from a guy who owned an automotive shop. He said it was his friend's car, but when his friend went into the service 14 years ago it was put into storage. Recently, his friend asked for an estimate to get the car running, which was more than he was willing to pay, so he just told the auto shop owner to keep it. I may have misunderstood the guy I bought the car from, though, because his english had a heavy accent and it was a bit difficult for me to understand him at times. The car doesn't run, but the owner said he sprayed starter fluid in the car and it popped a few times, so first in line will be to drain the gas tank and clean/rebuild the holley carb. The guy I bought it from didn't really know anything about it. Basic info: It has a scarab v8 (don't know what size), I'm told a 4 spd tranny, and 295/50/15 in the rear. Odd you say to switch to a CV conversion. I thought the general consensus here was that U-joints were stronger than CVs. I could see myself doing an R-230 conversion on this one, but I was first going to look into custom u-joint half-shafts for strength purposes. Here's a nightshot:
  17. I'll rephrase that. I'm sure that's why the cable is there, but what I don't understand is under what circumstances you would need to limit the travel.
  18. Haaaaaaaaaaaaahhahaahahahahahaaaaaaaa
  19. I haven't had a good look at it yet. I'm assuming it should be an r200 since it's a 280z. I'm not exactly sure why that cable needs to be there. I just picked it up last night and dropped it off at my work. This is going to be my widebody Z, and I'm hoping that these half-shafts will be able to hold the stress. As of now I'm shooting for 700-800+ hp. That won't be for a while, though.
  20. These are on a 1975 280z - the only thing I can think of is a custom shaft. I haven't seen one that looked like that on another vehicle. Thanks
  21. I like "The Happiest Monster"...lol
  22. *sigh* You know, the s130 wouldn't be so damn ugly if we had an aftermarket like its predecessor...hint hint. Sorry, I know I can get annoying with it.
