  1. There's no way I can list everything because I'm such a packrat, but this should give you half an idea. I would've taken more pictures but the batteries went dead. A couple of interior panels, some painless wiring, elec. fan, 4 spd. tranny, LD28 crank, and some misc. tools: More int. crap, springs, intercooler, electric cutouts, etc: A small power-adder sector, with a recovered 2+2 seat thrown back there: Wall of tires, One-piece front fiberglass bonnet to the right (Porkchop's old kit), and more fiberglass on the left. Behind the tire barracade lies a set of chevy rods & pistons, a couple of blocks, an oil cooler and a condenser, a couple of rear ends, and a couple of clutches. All along the left side of the garage are boxes of small parts - bolts, chains, pulleys, accessories, chevy valvetrain, and there's no telling what else. Oh, a '75z gas tank is over there somewhere. This is one of the storage areas. Here you can see one of the flares for the widebody, a set of ST bars in the background, and that building you see is another storage area, stuffed with more of this crap. Because the flares are white, you can't really see the contour of the flare, but it's a pretty good size. I don't have a pic, but at a 3rd storage area, I have an LT1 awaiting its destiny in my 280zx, just as soon as I blow up the current engine. Nitrous should help expediate the process. And yes, I know I have 4 Zs, but I'll be damned if I say it's too many. Except the 2+2 - if that wasn't my first sports car, it'd be gone by now.
  2. A KB 4.6 DOHC is pure sex, IMO. I'm trying to choose the powerplant for my widebody project, and I keep toggling between a KB LS1 or a KB 4.6. The LS1 would be a lot easier swap, as well as more power potential, but good god that 4.6 sounds just simply, awesome! My favorite sound clip: http://videos.streetfire.net/search/snake+bite/0/bbbb4104-0c33-450e-9bb5-982901426eb2.htm Right when he starts the burnout (about 1.5 seconds into the video) I can't stop drooling.
  3. I've been using PST (Pipe sealer w/Teflon) with decent results. I used to use the moly lube, but I made good friends with a guy who owns an 8-second mustang and said he's been using PST for years with good luck. I've never really talked to a machinest about it, though. BRAAP, opinions?
  4. I've had an '03 Mustang Gt come on the shop with spin techs on - they sounded great when I saw it drive by, but I didn't care for the way they sounded inside the cockpit while driving. Then again, Fords sound different than Chevys, so I may like the way it sounds on mine. I don't think I've heard the Aero-Chamber mufflers before. IMO, what sounds the best is open headers at WOT - that's why I really liked the idea of the electric cutouts. I'll see how close the ultraflo bullets can replicate it.
  5. I hope I win...better not get sniped. Hey, if the auction doesn't get pulled, we can at least give eachother pos. feedback
  6. Is he planning on selling those black interior parts, or does he have a resto project going on?
  7. I was also thinking of slapping the dynomax bullet muffler behind the flowmaster. It wouldn't harm the flow, but I didn't know how well it would act as a resonator.
  8. Because of the limited space and ground clearance, that's pretty much the only option for muffler location. I suppose I could have a piece of pipe welded between the two 2.5" pipes before they turn into the single 3", but I'm not sure how much that would help. I figure I'm going to try out the bullets and find out they're too loud, so then I'll try the Ultraflo SS muffler (rectange design) and see how that turns out. If it still resonates, I'll try the home-made H-pipe. I always thought the H and X pipes were just for exhaust scavaging. I didn't know they were used as resonators.
  9. I've upgraded my exhaust system recently, but now I have this really bad rattling/resonating sound at certain rpms. The guy that did the work said it's a common problem with mufflers at the very end of the exhaust system, and that older vettes had that same problem. He does some great work, and he's been doing it for at least a good 15-20 years, so I trust him...I don't think he's just trying to shrug me off. So, I'm going to get rid of the flowmaster on there right now and go with some dynomax ultraflo bullet mufflers. I think that'll be a bit too loud for my taste, but I gotta at least try it. Anyways, background: Old exhaust setup - hedman headers with true dual 2" pipe, ending with two 2-chamber flowmaster mufflers (can't remember exact details). Yes, that setup sucked, but was all I could get at the time. This one's a flash video: http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l159/zeeboost/?action=view&current=v8Old_exhaust1.flv New setup - JTR ceramic-coated headers, 2.5" pipe to single 3" with Super Delta 40 series Flowmaster. You can kind of hear the rattle noise in the video when I start taking off, but it sounds nothing like in real life. I know that both exhaust systems sound very similar in the videos, but the new setup actually has a very deep, throaty growl. I love the way it sounds, I just can't stand the resonance. Plus, I know flowmasters have relatively crappy flow numbers so I was going to install electric cutouts, but the car is so low that the cutouts would probably be damaged in no time. So I'll see if I can feel any difference with the ultraflo mufflers. I'm sure the audible increase will bias my buttometer. Streetfire hosted this one: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/e6c858b5-6131-4815-90a4-988c011c518a.htm I love roasting 1st and 2nd to redline - can't you tell? I'll keep you updated when I get the ultraflos mounted. Let me know if the old exhaust vid doesn't work.
  10. Doc had it, it's an alteration of a George Carlin bit.

    Tool Porn.

    I love cheater pipes
  12. JTR has everything you need for the lt1 to fit in the 280zx
  13. Well, not exactly, but it's from somebody at the same shop you work in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AEOIBSAA%3AUS%3A11&viewitem=&item=290050022910 I didn't think anything of it until I saw the seller's e-mail was Modular Madness. Hah! That's awesome! BTW, can you tell me what the exhaust flange is on it? I'm hoping T-3. I searched the net, but can't really find much about h1e, except you can't get an anti-surge housing for it. Small small world...what else do you have lying around over there?
  14. Are you kidding me? The t-top was invented for the tall guys . Except one time I hit a pretty good bump with the t-top on and whammed the crap outta my head...other than that, no problems.
  15. I wish it didn't have the L28, I mean it's a great engine and all, but after I saw the video posted on here of that Hakosuka running the track...holy crap! I wonder if the windshield wipers are broken, or if it's just a pose.
  16. I don't care for 2+2s either but, with a removable top and a pantera hatch, the horrible roofline contour should be eliminated.
  17. I'm 6'4 / 6'5 ish, and my '72 240z fits me like a glove. But I do feel sorry for those who have to sit behind me in the 2+2.
  18. Be kinda hard to ride the bike when the turbo sucks your leg in.
  19. 3jz = 2jz head + 1jz block 1.5jz = 2jz block + 1jz head Don't ask That's from what I've gathered, although I've seen just about every car forum flip the combinations around. Point is a 3jz could be a mixed head and block
  20. I'll be going to Houston this weekend, if you're interested. The Boxter would have to be available on Sunday, though.
  21. If you decide to use a heli-coil to repair the plug threads, the spark plug for that one cylinder will put out a different spark (either more cold or hot...not too sure) than the rest of the plugs, due to its surroundings. Therefore, it's recommended that if you heli-coil one cylinder, you should heli-coil the rest of the cylinders, and adjust plug range accordingly.
  22. It's either: a) A typo, or 3jz = 2jz head + 1jz block
  23. He won't answer e-mails, and I tried calling a couple of times without any luck, so I figured the car was sold. This was about 2-3 weeks ago.
  24. Nice vid, although I wouldn't have pictured Helloween playing a background theme to a car vid.
