  1. if its a mark8 its got a dohc 4.6 engine.for $1200 i wouldnt care about the snail tracks on the interior.sounds like a good donor engine for a z.the front clip would be worth $1200 to a body shop.
  2. boat is $15000.i have never figured out the picture posting -i am better with a hammer.
  3. if any body can find a buyer for my boat i will give them a $200 finders fee.i really like driving/piloting the boat but i want to get rid of it as part of a plan for changing my future.boat is a 18' mirage tunnel bottem ski racer (4 seater) with a mercury 2.5l efi outboard.hull year is 1995 .motor is a 96.just got a barely used sportmaster lower gearcase 3 monthes ago.last time out it ran 108 mph with me and a full tank of gas.boat was in fiberglass shop for carpet and upgrading last winter and rigging was gone through.if any body in north cal or sf bay area wants a ride email me-this is best time of year.nobody in my way.boat=bring out another thousand$
  4. what is max size that can be run with smooth idle?dont want to go too small or too big.want motor to idle in traffic .found new 42 lb injectors on ebay for $279 a set.these are oem ford lightning truck injectors.getting ready for new efi system.car will be used for a work/track car.found theses in both bosch and lucas-any body notice a difference?also some sets of bigger injectors on ebay advertised for a supra.car would get 24 mpg with oem zxt efi.but it quit working correctly and i dont feel like messing with it.
  5. after i figure out how to sell my boat ,then pay off my house i will be taking a 2 week motorcycle ride in baja to look for a rv camp ground to buy.screw california-too many people are moving into where i live .tract homes going up for miles.
  6. the fuel pressure will always have 3 to 5 psi above the boost pressure or the fuel will be shut off by the float needles.the bonnet runs pressure down the bowl vents.this will cause it to lean out on boost.holley carbs are a pain.by the time you get this working you will wish you went efi.nothing like changing jetting on a laptop.no gas leaks and no jets to buy.
  7. since i am a smog tech i get news on the computor screen when i smog a car.good news 1975 cars are exempt this year.bad news-all cars are still supposed to have ALL original equipment under the hood.so try to avoid those road side inspections.have only seen them 1 time here in central ca.stopped to bs with them.supervisor said they were out of riverside-your tax dollars at work paying for workers 300 miles from home.i have heard they hang out by drag strips in socal.if you trailer your car take the plates off-then its a race car.stay away from where the kiddies with hondas hang out.also tune your car so it doesnt smoke-there is an 800 number that tree huggers can call to complain.still no excuse to not keep car tuned well-you want to burn those hc's that you paid for.

  9. i have had chances to get a free ford ic-but its too big.got lots of aluminum i.c. piping from powerstrokes though.
  10. since i am a tech at a ford dealer i have thought about this..my guess it would be best to mount on left side under intake.i would run efi.that unit has plenty of air flow-it came from a 3.8l engine.there are big bolt holes for a/c brackit on left side of block and a flat spot-you could build a mounting brackit to put on there.i wouldnt try a carb-it takes mucho mods to a carb to work.think of boost blowing the fuel back down the lines.goto pick&pull and get out the welder.i wwould do this to my turbo car but i got a/c and dont want to take it off.it works too good.
  11. car is a 427 cobra replica made by era.there are many cobra replica builders.this car is a very <period correct> replica.the kind of car that is in a hybrid z's crosshairs.i would have put a turbo/efi 383 windsor in it .i hate holley carbs.had to change to power valve in the carb and reset advance curve in the distributor.this car is in my crosshairs-need to do a little more work on my z.the z and the cobra weigh the same.
  12. what i didnt like-have to wear those skinny driving shoes-peddles to close together.boat anchor ford 427 fe engine-the build sheet was $10000 .it would be better in the tow truck.steering wheel set up for short legged driver-if you run the seat back then you have to lean forward for the steering wheel.kind of like the alfa spider i had.for 60k it had better scare the shit out of me -it didnt.but then again i have a 18' boat that runs 110 mph and a street bike that ran a 9.8 on a dyno drag at a harley dealer open house.speed is like a drug-you always need more.
  13. get a ford dealer wire harness book called evtm.the aod is not electronically controlled but has the park/neutral/back up light switch on it.the ford pumps(ac,ps) will operate nissan ac and ps.what i do for hoses is cut crimps off of hoses .buy new hose in sizes i need(a/c ,hydraulic).fit hoses.then remove and have crimps installed on hoses at commercial rubber house.get to know your local commercial rubber supplier-better quality and cheaper.i have lots of commercial aeroquip hoses on my car.
  14. live 105 is a great station.cant get it in the valley though.use to hang out at a buddies house in sf in early 80's.never got any sleep.we used to stay out until 7 am then go out for breakfast.now i dont go over there any more because i hate driving back at 2 am-its 1.5 hours home.best plan would be to buy property to use on the weekend.
  15. i have instructed at driver schools before.driving a students car is not normal procedure at the schools i have helped out on.the student rides in instructor's car to learn the line.usually 2 waivers are signed.in court i doubt the m3 owner would get any sympathy.it was his risk to call.if i was to drive somebody else's car i wouldnt be speed shifting it.i like to be smooth.

  17. i have about 85000 miles on my turbo conversion.the problems come from the person who installed it.and his budget for proper new parts vs taking a chance on something form pick&pull.turbo makes a better daily driver-better gas milage on freeway.like 24 or so.since i am auto mechanic for a living i am having a problem working on my z lately.it has a leaky injector hose.would sell car and massive parts inventory for $4000 though.email for info.
  18. at thunder hill i get about 5 miles to the gallon.this is a 3 mile road course.you are doing either 1 of 2 things-braking or flooring the throttle.
  19. pyro-thanks for ic routing tip.ic tube routing is almost an art form.every cars turns out different.your set up would work good with my 77 280/81zxt .i have factory ac and its working.so why remove it.
  20. what kinda ecm to use?anything you want-thats your call.i have seen twm equipment on toyota off road racing trucks in baja.there are other places to get a weber side draft pattern tb though.injector placement is better on a complete manifold assembly like the twm unit.better atomization.
  21. most port fuel injectors are aimed at top of intake valve.fuel is shot on top of hot intake valve turning it into a hot vapor.atomised droplets dont burn as good.ever read about the pouge vapor carburator?or watch the smoke rolling off of a log on a campfire finally catch?for racing low speed driveability is not a concern.i have seen pictures of an offshore boat race engine with the injectors spraying down the middle of velocity stacks form the top.the use of intake valves to vaporize fuel is what causes deposits on them.gasoline has been reformulated to be used in this fashon of a gasoline formulation from the 60's.
  22. any carb is a good carb if you know how to tune it.the reason for egt's on each exhaust port-to check for fuel distribution.carbs work better with more air velocity-low rpm's are a little rich to allow for this.the reason for efi is to improve low and mid rpm driveability.if you stab the throttle on a carb motor you lose manifold vacuem and motors ability to draw fuel.efi just pumps it in.
  23. i helped a friend build a scca its z with l28 and we took off the l28 head and installed a 240 head with round top su's.more hp and easy to work on.the is a company called z therapy that makes parts for the su's.i would not consider any other carbs for a street z.i have a friend with a 3.1l robello motor in his z with su's and it keeps up with my turbo car at thunder hill.wouldnt mind trying to build a high compression 3.1l with aftermarkit efi though-a nice simple car.

  25. the yellow wire covering just makes the job look SO good!the guy probably works a car stereo shop.i hate working on cars after they come from stereo/alarm shops.that split loom is what the dumb s&*ts go for.
