  1. I didn't think they even made 75 of them. Beautiful car. Too bad it's associated with one of the worst disasters in racing history at LeMans in '55. I thought this would be a good opportunity to brag. Got a ride in an Allard about 5 years ago at Road America. What a blast, almost like a motorcylce. Caddy V8 on straight pipes. I beleive it was Lowell Blossom's, he owns a dealership in Indy. Also has a 1971 McLaren M8F, must be nice being rich!
  2. I can't get past the styling. Maybe it's a cast away from Starsky and Hutch? Anyway, I could have sworn they did a supercharger on a Z in Zsport Magazine a few years ago.
  3. They're listed under Parts and Accesories/Parts Cars. Once there, I'll do a search for Datsuns. I thought maybe these were Ebay's best kept secrets and there wouldn't be too much bidding, fat chance! Phil
  4. This guy's on something...$2300 starting price, you gotta be kidding! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2463894110&category=6783
  5. I'm "the guy" who can't remember. Soileau, are you sure the "80" trans you have pictured is in fact original from the car? As far as I know, the early 5 speed (77-79) has two ears, and the later (80-83) is the other, and not just an 83. BTW, the one that Mark's getting is the single ear one. Mark, I was thinking if you want to know just to know, worse case senerio, after you put the trans in, just calculate out 5th by your RPM's and rear end ratio. Phil
  6. I agree totally lame. I had much higher hopes when I saw the 240SX...always had a soft spot for them.
  7. Wish I could do a search, but oh well I see these mentioned from time to time, specifically on a GT2 car which I posted a link to recently. Finally did some searching and couldn't come up with anything. I did read somewhere that they're Weber clones, but was thinking more along the lines of highly modified webers? Are these guys still in business? Any links?
  8. One thing I learned the hard way, always return the "click types" to zero as soon as your done using it.
  9. My bid was cancelled by the seller, with the reason listed as "The vehicle was stolen"! I sure hope that's not true. Phil

    Just Z Photos

I'd like to see more pic's of Brad Frissle's championship IMSA car, from Scottie's link!
  11. Looks real good, I'm so jealous of that dash. I just hope you don't get bit by the body shop turnaround time. Most prioritize insurance collision claims first, and only work on the other stuff just to keep busy. Nothing like waiting for 2 or 3 months for a relativley simple job, and then have to rush to complete the car in time. Phil
  12. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=38335 Just got it a few nights ago...works good. No press required! Phil
  13. Does NOT!! The search only finds recent stuff since the beginning of the year. BTW, anyone have an ETA on when it will be back up?
  14. Here's a really good page with all the tracks available as well as add ons for them: http://trackdb.d2g.com/welcome.asp GPLEA has some really good car graphic updates: http://gplea.racesimcentral.com/ Thought I'd put a sample with my favorite, the Eagle:
  15. Actually I think they were running discs by that time. If Jaguar had discs on their LeMans car in '55, I'd think it would have made its way to F1 over ten years later. But even so, like you said, they're a handfull! I found a patch to add Jackie Stewart to the game. Thinking of trying that out.
  16. With this winter being a bit harsh here in Wisconsin, I've been passing the time on the PC. Finally got Grand Prix Legends, which is an older game, but has a ton of add-on software for it. This includes updated car graphics and pretty much every track you can think of in the world. Anyone else play it?? Phil
  17. Here in the states, the doors were completely redesigned with new door latches and window mechanisms in '77 and nothing is interchangable. As for the European cars, anyone happen to know if there the same? My first guess was yes, it wouldn't make sense from a logistical standpoint to stock two different doors. But on the other hand Datsun may have been using the old stock up?
  18. I agree, Quaife! Lifetime warranty, never have to open it up and replace clutches again, superior design, and your already over half way there at $700.
  19. There was a guy I talked to years ago, Rob Sime, who was swapping out the electronics with the earlier years and selling them. He had one on his own car and said it helped. I've talked with others since and they said the results are marginal at best. I wonder if one would be better off going with a completely retrofitted 300ZX system with the hot wire AMS, or an aftermarket FI using a MAS. Phil
  20. I had it on a previous Z as well. It was a quality oil pan, and I agree it was heavy. I kinda wished it had more capacity. It was something like 6 qts. The other thing I wished it had was crank scrapers. But on the positive side this will add some block rigidity, although I'm not sure how much more the L-series really needs. Phil
  21. Too bad the big dogs don't run there anymore...would love to see the AMLS run it. I'm waiting for Sebring, 3/20!
  22. The "Spirit of DC" team with the white Z has been running that race for quite a while. They've won it overall more than a few times too. Phil
  23. Just a thought. This mainly applies to "race only" cars. Has anyone experimented with an alterative steering column? I've seen ones with basically a shaft and rod ends to support it. This might be a good way to shave some weight off the car. Did some searching and found a place which sells intermediate (rack to column) colapsable sections. This seems to make more sense. Phil
  24. I failed to mention, the "modified" pulleys are all used...with no problems.
  25. My motor guy puts the 2 groove unit on the lathe and takes off the 2nd groove! 8) He said he's never had a problem with any of his customer race cars. Phil
