  1. I like the stripes toecutter has. Very tasteful. The ones in the original post are a little too much. (for me at least)
  2. there is a 2 part adhesive that you put through a special nozzle that mixes the two parts while you push on the trigger of the gun. A buddy of mine used it to mold on his 944 gt flares, and this stuff is strong. I wish i could remember the name of it!!! all I remember is that the mixing nozzle snaked the 2 parts around and by the time the epoxy reached the tip, both parts were fully mixed.
  3. Wow. Congratulations!!! I don't think I want to go quite as far as you did to retain the stock wiring to the relay. I notice megasquirt has a ground for the fuel pump. I also assume that it is important for this ground to be hooked up to the ground of the fuel pump relay, otherwise the ecu is not controling the fuel pump. This is a safety concern for me, and I don't like the idea of not hooking it up. that was the only thing i am really confused about. Can you elaborate your fuel pump wiring? thanks!
  4. If you still have the engine lift hooks on the car, DO NOT USE THEM! mine sheared off as I was pulling one of the previous engines out of my car, and luckily it didn't do much, but if they had sheared while the tranny/engine was in the air, it could have killed some one. Use grade 8.8 bolts wherever you can, to attach the chain. be very careful.
  5. Can you get a close up of the hood vents? They llok really good but I can't see the detail. Everything looks good so far!
  6. I don't think its that, Its just that they look plain ugly in my opinion, and alot of people feel the same way. However, most of the 2+2's that I have actualy liked, have been flared or g-nosed. The maserati concept is great, because maseratis have the same body style as a 2+2. I see the Z as the hot slender chick, and the 2+2 as her fat sister. oh no, I wonder how many 2+2 guys i just po'd.... (sorry ed )
  7. bump. Don't miss out on this guys! the discount code is good till sept. 2006
  8. Are you going to be selling these... if so will they be cheaper than lonewolf's set up?
  9. I'm pretty sure green is rich and red is lean. Don't forget that nb O2 sensors need a little while to heat up, even if they are heated.
  10. Heres the deal, I don't want to have wiring running all over my car, so I want to use the existing main relay and fuel pump relay with the MS. Trying to think of how to wire this thing, since megasquirt only grounds the fuel pump relay (seperately), and the stock main relay has a built in fuel pump relay. I'm thinking of just using all the wires that are in that location and using my own standard relays, but separating the FP and Main relay functions. Is anyone running the stock fuel pump/ main relay, if so how did you wire it to MS?
  11. Junkyards are good sources too. I picked one up for 50 bucks, with no rust.
  12. Wow, Looking at the maseratti from the side you can really see how the 2+2 shape will help you get the look you are going for. maybe this conversion will be the 2+2's ugly duckling story?
  13. umm... 24 gauge seems kinda thin, 20 seems to be more like what you should be using. i don't know what this "1" thing is...
  14. I think this should be in the vendors or classified forums, but if by flywheel you mean flexplate, I can get you one from my local junkyard. There is an 80's maxima with l24e sitting there, And If anyone needs any parts off of it, (and if you provide some monetary incentive for me) then I will be willing to go and pick it off the car.
  15. mmm itbs on a v8. that is the sex. I could see the airhorns just poking out of the hood...
  16. to powder coat something it must be heated, and the rubber in the harmonic balancer could melt. This is what I have heard in the past. I think there was a thread with a similar question. want bling on your crank nose? go ati
  17. looks good! when are we going to put it all together?
  18. I have no idea what the heck that is. It could be a piece of the camshaft oiler, but i think you already pulled the valve cover, and you would have noticed that. I highly doubt it is a piston oiler, because the L6 pistons get their oil through a little hole in the rod right abve the bearing.
  19. Yes you can. I did it, and you can too! The oil pan bolts will come off, maybe with a wrench on some of the ones behind the crossmember. Once the oil pan is off the block, stick your ten wrench in and undo the bolts holding on the oil pickup tube/ strainer. Oh, And I say you should rebuild your own engine, not pay rebello too much money to do it for you.
  20. That is a clean car!!! 18's on a z. Looks a little wierd to me
  21. I'm not trying to win any classes, the whole point of the cheap autocrosses is to provide a "driver's ed" for possible FSAE drivers. ok there i spilled the beans... No worries about class restrictions here. and i ordered these used tires: http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29392-2357-0?uid=36901670&site=0&ver=EOIBSA080805&lk=URL&Item=230003665981 and http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29392-2357-0?uid=36901670&site=0&ver=EOIBSA080805&lk=URL&Item=230003671947 I hope these will fit on my stock steelies... otherwise i'm definitely thinking about veritech-z's 14's
  22. sounds like maybe a rod thats about to fall off the crank. Pull your pan and see if anything looks odd.
  23. what about used slicks? I would assume that slicks would last longer than any street tire in a racing environment. There's a guy on ebay selling some that I might buy. Oh yeah, I'm trying to stay under 300 total. (broke college student with a part time job )
  24. Here is the deal... I will soon be getting double entry autox's for very little money through a club at schoo, and I will also be sharing my car with a friend... so that's double driver- double entry autox's in one day. With houston region scca that amounts to 16 competition runs per race day. Here's the problem TIRES! There is no way I am going to run any tire I put through this kind of abuse on the street AND the autox. I want to run my steelies with some possibly 195/60/14 size tires, with decent grip. My car is not a race car, so street tires will be fine. So far I have looked at: Yokohama avs-es100 Falken rt-615 (edit) -->Dunlop sport a2 plus ok so thats pretty much it for now. I'm really trying to stay under or around 300 shipped. I know that's cheap, but these tires are going to get chewed up so I don't want to spend that much money on 'em. I would put on some used tires, just don't know where to get them...
