  1. congrats on the find! I don't like the rear "bumper" or whatever that is. The stock z body lines look sexy back there without any help. ridin' kinda low there aren't ya?
  2. Plans so far: put pico injectors in the float bowls of each carb, use EXISTING fuel lines to get fuel to injectors. Wiring will have to be run underneath the carbs, possibly hidden by some sort of heat shield.
  3. well, thats just a give away for having fuel injection. I kinda want it for the wow factor. Like I tell someone my car is fuel injected and then they see webbers, and they argue that its carbureted and that I don't know anything about cars. I think it would be cool and its a creative way of doing ITB's i just need to get the $$$ together for a set of pico injectors, and a weber setup I can just hack up.
  4. no, I am talking about dynamic. If i were talking about static I would be throwing around numbers like 10:1 and the like. anyone else?
  5. You should build one... Everyone I've talked to says they're easier to build than a reciprocating piston engine. maybe you'll beat aux
  6. I think i made a post like this a while back, but i have searched for a while and can not find it! The question is... Does the dynamic CR (as read from a compression tester) Help to determine if you car will be able to run on pump gas? for example: (reason for asking!) My engine, gets 215ish psi, and that is too much for the stock head design and 93 octane. the stock z's came with an acceptable 164-178 psi, which will run on 87 octane once I get a bigger cam should I be in the sub 200 psi range to be able to floor the car under load without expecting detonation? obviously with other engines and efficient head/piston combinations and crossflow, hemi style head available, results may vary... ... but is there a general rule of thumb?
  7. In the case of zerrari gto, it looks like he's already cut the roof and is doing the rest of the convertible conversion along with the re-body. Looks good! can't wait to see the finished product.
  8. those were the mr2/fiero style cars right? the only place I see them is rusted out behind old body shops.
  9. I had a problem like that twice: once was when I was autoxing and the tach would drop for a split second, ad the engine would keep going. Turned out to be my fusible links were going. (don't know if you have that on your zx) another time was when I had fried my voltage regulator jumping another car's battery. That was when my engine would shut of kind of randomly at a stoplight.
  10. I really think it is the exhaust. Check out the way the headers are aimed right into the firewall.
  11. sounds like fun! Integra guy does sound crazy.
  12. I really like the way the front end looks!!
  13. ah yes another 8 spoke panasport/watanabe inspired wheel. I'd probably rock 'em if they were light enough and looked good in person. double post btw
  14. How are you using "engineers" ? -as in a mechanic who works at a shop and deals with cars all day? -or a PE (professional engineer) who works at a firm in an offics all day and signs off on drawings that his draft monkeys make? also, that sounds very tough just to modify a car!
  15. hey guys, Here is the deal. I'm getting frustrated with all the wetsanding involved in this. I think I have put in a total of 10 hrs on ONE FENDER!!? I don't know if this is normal of any paint job, but I can't justify spending that much time on paint, which will not make my car go around an autox course any faster. My options for the rest of the car are as follows: 1) finish painting the car with this method, if a faster way of wetsanding makes itself apparent to me. 2) Paint the car with a gun... Yes, I have several friends with painting guns, and I could use the same paint. I am assuming that spraying it on will give a smoother surface and result in less wetsanding. (I HATE WETSANDING!) 3) abandon the project and let a reputable shop do paint it sometime down the line... (money is an issue) That being said, here is today's progress, which, contrary to my current attitude towads rolling on paint, is very positive. thoughts?

here is some reflection shots from further away.

    more reflection

    From the album: Rustoleum

heres some more reflection off of the fender. This was after wetsanding with 1000 grit, then polishing with my vibrating sander and a shammy with some turtle wax. (not exactly the best combination for polishing but it did the job.

ok here is where I get excited about my results... see how it looks like a real paint job? yes, but thats after about 10hrs on one fender!
