  1. Here's someone who's on some serious medication selling one on EBAY for $25,000. You would think for that price, it woud still have the original steering wheel... There were 500 red / black 10th anniversary editions manufactured. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-280ZX-1980-DATSUN-10TH-ANNIVERSARY-280ZX-BLACK-RED-8291-MILES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ006QQitemZ160184279576QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  2. KTM, were you able to make any adjustments to the clutch engagement point for your ACT clutch or does it still engage just a few inches off the floor?
  3. I made sure all my cuts were straight and used a hack saw and mitre box. I tried a chop saw, but it tended to melt the aluminum a bit and was a bigger job cleaning up after...
  4. Dave, all you would have to do on the warm winter days is unzip the bag and you're off...
  5. Dave, I purchased a car jacket bag for my Z several years ago for the 4 - 5 months it sits unused in the garage. The car is entirely enclosed by the bag. Supposedly it keeps the moisture out and even comes with a few pounds of moisture absorbant material. I'm not too sure about the moisture part of the sales pitch, but I feel better that the mice will not be sleeping in my baby over the winter. http://www.autoanything.com/car-covers/69A1798A0A0.aspx?kc=G9077&&s_kwcid=car%20jacket|1038186908 BTW, I have friends who swear by the 5 gallon bucket trap.......
  6. KTM, Thanks for the info Bo, I'm getting used to the low engagement point. I was just spoiled by the stock clutch engagement I guess. I will need to remember to warn anyone who drives my Z. In the six years I've owned it, I've never stalled it out, came close the first time after the install!!
  7. KTM, I just installed an ACT Street clutch and HD pressure plate and found that it engages almost right off the floor, not much room for slipping. I was considering trying to adjust the pedal, but it sounds like yours is set up the same way. It does engage nice so far though, just takes a little while to get used to.
  8. You can download a free copy of the factory service manual at carfiche.com. They may not have your exact year, put pick one that 's close and it should be fine.

    Oval tubing?

Here's a link to Jeff's exhaust system page. Vinhzxt and I were lucky enough to get in on Jeff's last group buy. Three inch is no problem on the ZX. http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/280zxt/page11.html
  10. Make sure you play some ZZ Top on the way out there!!
  11. Mike, just rent a UHaul trailer and truck if you have to!! That's how I got my Z home from Pennsylvania....
  12. Thanks for the info wannabe, unfortunately I don't know of any junkyards let customers wander around their yard here in Connecticut, but I will be on the look out for Volvo's as possible donors for this part!! Thanks!!
  13. I swear I've seen these before, but after several days of searching, I'm coming up empty. I want to recirculate my BOV back into the AFM-to-turbo boot on my 280zxt. My searches have found posts where people are using an AFM boot from a 1G DSM on S30 applications with minor modificatios. I'm researching whether this would work on an S130. Other people also build a custom hardpipe between the AFM and turbo. I seem to remember seeing on television some type of hose tap where I could drill a hole into the rubber boot and install a tap of some type that would allow attaching the 1" BOV hose. Has anyone seen these before? If so, what are they called? or if anyone could share how they plumbed their BOV back in before the turbo, it would be appreciated. Thanks,
  14. Is Mr. K there this year? Always a thrill to see him attend the conventions!!
  15. Just to clarify one point, the label cold pipe is normally reserved for the pipe leading from the intercooler back into the throttlebody. You want this pipe to have the shortest path and most direct path. The pipe I passed behind the radiator is the hot pipe (for lack of a better name) from the turbo into the intercooler. To accomplish this, I had to crisscross the pipes over the AFM. Some people do run the cold pipe in behind the radiator though. Yes I did retain the AC compressor, removed the stock fan and shroud and replaced it with an Zirgo electric fan and thermostat. There's probably an inch or so of clearence between the radiator and engine pulleys. I used 2.25 inch pipe. I've been running 12 PSI for about a year now without any issues. The only fuel mod so far was to install a Porsche 944 turbo fuel pump. I have a boost referenced adjustable raising rate fuel pressure regulator sitting on the shelf, but have not istalled it yet. I was planning on installing an wide band A/F gauge before installing the the regulator. I am running an Autometer A/F guage with the funky led lights and I seem to stay in the "green" area of the gauge under boost.
  16. I agree with Brad's opinion on the EBAY intercooler. Most people agree that intercoolers that have both the inlet and outlet on the same side are easier to plumb into the Z's. The preferred bar and plate configuration for this same side layout is one where the flow goes top to bottom not side to side. As you pointed out, the EBAY cooler you indentified has the bar and plates running left to right, turning 180 degrees and returning, rather inefficient. BTW, you probably ran across my post about a year ago asking basically the same question. Not that my install is ideal, but it or the responses included my get the creative juices flowing!! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113425
  17. I ran an turbo auto ECU for several months after my conversion from an auto to 5-speed without any issues. When I did finally install a 5-speed turbo ECU, I noticed that the RPM's dropped off slower with the manual ECU then with the auto ECU. I had found that I needn't to "blimp" the throttle during slow shifting to keep the revs up. No need to do that after the manual ECU install. I also heard that the auto ECU has no rev limiter. And for the record, I did permanently connect the neutral/park switch wiring. Not sure if I had to, but I remember the Z not starting if the gear selector was not in neutral or park prior to the swap.
  18. AE2ZX, was your 280zx a 5 speed to start with??
  19. The black wrinkle paint on Dave's car looks 100 times better in person!!
  20. Vinh, I'm in shock. Like everyone's already said, cars can be replaced. On the other hand, people can not. Glad everyone's OK. Give them all a big, long hug from the Z community!
  21. I spent most of Friday sealing my driveway....hmmm, never considered covering it in rubber......looks like a much more enjoyable process then what I went through!! LOL nice Z, sounds great!!
  22. Haha Tony, I noticed the same thing, but that's for another post....
