  1. I hate to use my Z as an example and I know its not an S30, but it sounds like you plan to route the pipe the same way I did. I posted pictures last fall showing my install. Scroll down a few posts to see pictures. Hope this helps!! Good luck!
  2. I've run across an 85 300zxt in a local junk yard. Coincidently, I had been reading about the 300zxt MAF / ECU within the last few days. I've searched the archives both here and on zcar and can't find the answer to this question....will the conversion only work with an 84 300zxt MAF, or will an 85 MAF work just as well? All the posts I've found either used the 84 MAF or didn't mention the year MAF used. MSA and Black Dragon list just one part number for the 84-89 300zx/t. Thanks in advance,
  3. Can't go wrong with Charlie Osbourne's floor pans from Zedd Findings. http://www.datsunzparts.com/NewParts/summary.htm
  4. Dave, the possibility of mice spending the winter in my Z is one reason I justified buying a Car Jacket a few years back. The jacket is like a sleeping bag, open it up, roll the Z in and Z it up for the winter!! It supposedly keeps the critters and moisture out. Your improvements look great BTW!!
  5. My son has a 240z, 350z and a 300zx he had shipped from China a few years back. Not sure what scale. I'll have to ask if he's interested in selling any of them. Now that he has a full sized car of his own, he's looking to liquidate his other "toys" to buy some performance parts...
  6. Most warm start issues for the 280zxt's seem to be caused by the power transistor. It seems be affected by heat over the years. The power transister is attachd to the distributor. I've heard that hitting it with some type of cooling spray when it's acting up is the way to determine if your's is bad. I believe radio shack has some type of aersol spray that will freeze stuff. A replacement can be difficult to find. I can't remember the sources that were listed. SUggest you do a search in the archives.
  7. Just got my wife's registration in the mail with a winshield sticker instead of the customary plate tag. The accompanying letter stated that Connecticut is switching to windshield stickers to aviod plate sticker theft.
  8. Ahh, but you guys miss the feeling of pulling the Z out of storage every spring and going for your first ride of the season...feels like the first time all over again!!
  9. Looks like I have some work to do... Nice job 240Hoke!!
  10. $1900 for my 81 280zxt in 2001. It was an impulse purchase. First Z that I found that matched the two tone color of the Z I had back in 82. I should have shopped around on the west coast and AZ before buying my east coast Z. But I love it!!
  11. I just find it amazing that something could withstand that punishment and retain its perfect round shape. Also amazing is the pattern of the dimples on the top of piston #6 matches the dimples on the head exactly. Goes to show you how little the tolerances are in an operating engine!!
  12. I paid $1500 to a body shop to replace the foorpans on my 81 280zx back in 2001, not including the floorpans(Zedfindings!!). I stripped the interior prior.
  13. Alex, What additional mods would one need to get to the 275 HP figure you mention at 14-15 PSI? Just curious...
  14. Vin, Back in 2001 I had the floor pans on both sides replaced by a small (one man) body shop. I stripped the interior and purchased the pans from Zedd Findings. The total labor cost was $1500. Ouch... He did a nice job but things are expensive when you don't do them yourself. I felt lucky that I was able to find someone wanted to do it. Two body jobs turned down the job because it was a t-top car. I quess 40 hours / $1500 = $ 37.50 per hour. Guess that's not too bad in retrospect.
  15. I'd pay just to be able to walk around a JY. Here is Connecticut I don't think you can go anywhere near the yard itself. Takes all the fun out of the hunt!!
  16. Mopar, do you have a larger version of your signature picture? Is that your Z? Looks interesting...
  17. I too have been frequenting HybridZ more often of late. I still visit Zcar, but it doesn't seem to be as helpful lately as it once was. It may be that I've grown past the basic questions all newbies need to come through and its time to move on. I've also seen quite a few of the more knowlegible users fade away over the past few months. Anyway, I definitely feel like a newbie here and research my questions before asking, don't want to be frowned upon by the HybridZ gods!! LOL
  18. I took a break from raking leaves and washed the Z today. I hope to be able to drive it to work a couple of times this week. It's only a matter of time before we have to deal with salt here and the Z will be put to bed for the winter. I was asked to provide a few front shots with the hood on, so here they are. You can't really make the cooler out unless you look close, but you'll see how it sits perfect between the bumper shocks. I keep forgetting to install the rubber strip at the end of the hood and I have a new set of bumper covers to install when I have a few extra minutes.
  19. Well, I'm almost done with the intercooler install. After a couple of bad welder experiences, all I have left is a little clean up and put the hood back on. I thought I would take a few pictures before it gets buttoned up for the winter. I've only been able to take it for a couple of spins around the neighborhood. It seems to be surging under high boost, which may just be a leaking hose coupling. Though I plan to recirculate the BOV in the spring, for the moment I'm enjoying the sound of the HKS SSQV. Please ignore the label on the CAI pipe, its already been removed.
  20. I've been waiting almost two years for Klearz to get my lightly smoked clears made up. Long story, but they tell me that we're really close. With my luck the Z will be down for the winter before I get them. Can't wait!!
