  1. Now, $399 for an 8 pt cage from SWRacecar.com is reasonable, but now my question is, can you have a bolt in style cage WELDED in by a shop? It would seem to me that it would be just as easy as bolting in.
  2. um, no my charcoal canister never had vacuum going to it, so it feels the same, maybe I should have it hooked up lol... and The "mess" on that side is my cold start and cold start valve lines.
  3. .12 thick tubing, so should be? Im doing road racing and scca, so it doesn't necessarily have to be qualified for NHRA, but Im all for having a cage that will save my life, not just get me into an event, seen to many people roll there cars here and die.
  4. When I do the padding I could just make more padding on the cage where the armrests go lol, then If I really had to brace... or hold onto something..
  5. thats really cheap for a cage, most shops quoted me at $500 for a 6 point SCCA/IMSA approved cage and with two contacts on the passenger and driver floorpans, and then the 4 others are in the back with the cross bars in the hatch area. can anyone confirm that $500 is reasonable, (sorry to threadjack )
  6. dont call the PO, one of the worst things you can do, it doesn't solve anything.
  7. Im still removing emissions, and I removed the charcoal canister and noticed that a metal line went from the bottom of the canister to the clutch master cylinder? Is that something thats removable? it works just fine without any vacuum going to it ,but im wondering WHY it goes there?
  8. well, right now mine is boring, but some local car club guys with datsuns are weisenheimers and have these: 1LSV8DN - one less v8 datsun ICURAQT- I see you are a cu-tee. FNFOR-Fast n' Full of Rust when I renew my plates Im doing Spkmz -my initials and then z (makes it harder for people to steal lol)
  9. dang, the techs in MT are slacking, some tried to tell me 78 280z's came with a turbo option :/ I guess I can getaway with turbo's here until I go to nationals lol
  10. damn now how am I supposed to go have lunch with this hard on... I think this last page of cars were exceptional.
  11. I wouldn't put it past a man who would remake a fender out of bondo to shaft the clearences with ignorance, just a fyi lol
  12. well, in my newb opinion, judging that one side has more room on both sides of the wheel and the other has room on one side, id say someone has rebuilt that fender before and did it wrong, but I would measure the farthest point on each wheel well and make sure they match up then I would assume the axles are jacked or whatnot because of an accident if they match up
  13. Possibly its because when the cars motor gets hot that one of your valves is sticking open and then when you hit a bump or it releases it stops smoking, then gets stuck and so on...
  14. lol nice, have fun trying to drift the datsun, major whiplash considering your resting your ass on the rear wheels... and have no power steering lol
  15. eh, Im getting my threads mixed up... In that case, yeah have fun with the ecu swap, its not as bad as you think.
  16. slow down there seabiscuit. I have a zx motor in my datsun, yes it bolted in, the only thing you HAVE to wire in is the zx distributor which can be done with the E-80 Distributor upgrade diagram or you can Pm me and ill get some pictures for you and actually you will have to UNDO more things than wire them up, I.E. I removed my knock sensor because the 280z wiring diagram doesn't have that, and I had to change the thermostat back to the stock 280z's, but most important make sure you have the o2 sensor hooked up, your computer should adjust and have it leveled out, regardless of boost. Merry swappings.
  17. from an auto-x standpoint, both tires are solid but the dunlops will last longer, but that is depending on the drive just a street tire? what kind of street tire are you wanting? a stick low treadware or a solid good grip all season?
  18. my evil pets, pedro on the left, the boston. and max on the right, the 12 year old german shephard dog... then there is eazy-zee the 280z in the middle haha
  19. I have a 78 280z with a Zx p79 head motor in it and even z car techs have put me in the stock class...
  20. there was a thread on the dynos and how different one put down different numbers... also, the operator can change the number unfortunately. still impressive, my tundra put down 390hp to lol but it weighs alot and only has an exhaust.
  21. thats exactly the answer I was looking for, thanks. The only reason I asked is because I removed and bled the freon in my saab 900 turbo and then went to remove the lines and freon was gushing out like mad and that stuff is terrible smelling.
  22. Hey, I have a 78 280z and I had a question about removing the Air conditioning Lines. Just as a caution my 78 is a vacuum operated heating system, so if removing the bronze A/c Lines from the engine bay will make me lose vacuum and lose my heating and defrost, then it wont work. I wanted to know if even if I didnt have compressor will it still possibly have a/c coolant in the lines? and Can I remove the bronze lines without it cancelling out my vacuum for defrost and heat?
  23. I searched in this forum section, couldn't find any pictures and I searched on google images and only found bmw's and show wheels. What I want to see a picture of is a z car with 205/60/R14 wheels, I get the odd feeling they will have that dinky to small look to them, I would like to stay in the 14" family for wheels and this 60 aspect ratio has the best option for tires, so if anyone has any pictures of S30's with 205/60/R14's on them please post them. Thanks, Sean.
