extremely nice looking car. you should paint your headlight buckets black to match your air dam and hood, In my hipster opinion they look really clean that way, and maybe the wheels could use 10mm spacer or so ,but all the work you put into this thing is remarkable! Looks great!

I have the feeling that it still runs and drives just fine, sometimes you need to go places, i like vehicles that take me places, coming from a Daily driven standpoint. What motor are you putting in this shell poke?

a running z is a good z, id rather weld in and fix rust than worry about making it a car run again. be happy with what you have lol

what does he charge to do the coilover conversion, and send him your strut housing and lower mounts and the whole shock/spring setup? or just the strut and housing?

he is in belgrade Montana, where i just moved from. I called a pick and pull in Spokane and they had 2 new 280zxts and they both had motors, he didnt know the condition though. He also had a smashed 350z with an intact drivetrain he wanted to get rid of for 2k.

So far I haven't heard anything negative about techno toy, they are respectable as far as im concerned. anyone who builds parts for older sports cars is usually not as terrible as your run of the mill "honda performance" parts.

anything newer than a 280zx motor will not bolt in to the 280. If you really want to do a swap, buy an Rb20det from ebay, you use the same driveshaft, same motor mounts with a little bit of grinding and almost the same tranny mounts. very easy swap and you stay in the L6 family. not to mention turbo, or you can just go with an l28et, try the classifieds here on hybrid, i found quite a few.

if your looking at the VG on craigslist thats from a pathfinder, and its a v6 but it does have a 5 speed.

we had one in my shop, only ever used the arc setting. worked well, just have to know what your doing, but I would expect the same quality from the other settings

really? on my 12gal tank I usually get about 24mpg on the highway, and in town about 18-20mpg depending on the fuel I put in and how im driving that week Then again its about the same as my v8 tundra so...

after sorting out a problem with wiring, my Z car has been fan-freakin-tastic for daily driving, while unemployed most of the time, Highschool sucks. Can't wait for college though. My advice, go test drive some Z cars that you like and see how they feel, some people have a good sense for cars and others don't it all depends on how the car feels, I test drove a 240z and it was unreliable feeling, change in idle, fluctuation in the electrics, some seals and doors werent really fitting right, little things can tell you alot about a car. Oh yeah, one more four letter word to worry about, RUST, check for rust, then check again. As for people saying a certain car is generally unreliable, thats a common thing to hear ,but couldn't be more wrong. I had two Saab 900's that were known for being super reliable and safe, but I had THE MOST PITA moments of my life with those two, my Passat was very reliable, and so far the Z is very Reliable as well.

ive heard of people building carbed 240z's to be a comfortable 3k-9k race motor, but nothing street friendly anyway, on the upper RPM's topic, whenever my fan clutch is engaged when the car is hot, it seems to take away alot, alot of my upper RPM's I.E. above 3,000rpm. If I need the power for auto-x I usually just pop the hood and tap the clutch loose and it'll stay off and then Ill have torque for days.

I forsaw that being a problem, but havent looked into it further, you could always get the gasket making material and make a gasket that pops up that far to block it off, or do what you did.
