  1. yeah, I went to les schwab and got some $1 a lug, lug nuts but they dont have a washer, so he said to return them if they dont work and he can slide some washers into place for no charge so they will fit, 3/4 and then 1.25 pitch was the size on the lugs.
  2. some old turbine wheels and some new ones in the machine shop currently
  3. well its certainly not as nice as some, but I finally got my springs on. these are on the "to mount list"
  4. I got them on, and WOW! aside from the few lessons learned, they are alot stiffer, and were literally half the length of the stock springs, ill get pictures. car sits pretty now, now I just have to get my wheels on.
  5. hey kent, nice to see you out and about in the z world! and yeah, I have a replacement lug nut set that I use on my car from napa, and they work fine I inspected to see if they were angled but the stupid acorn LNs I have are not luckily. I got the wheels for dirt cheap so I dont mind spending $100 on machining the wheels, im just excited for race season to start finally. On a side note, I picked up an extra set of tokico hp springs, but they are for a 240z, I cant remember if it was just the strut housing that was a different size on 240z's (2" for 240z, and 2.5" for 280z) I just need the spring perches to match, correct?
  6. why not just buy new lug nuts to fit the wheels? they have tons of options now a days.
  7. I had the exact same damn problem, my alternator went out when I shifted down due to the power jumping all at once and the stress on the ancient alternator was to much, it bucked jerked and then It would be fine in upper gears, but would have little to no power, then i pulled over and then tried to start it and got nothing out of it. absolutely nothing. charged the battery up at some old bikers house who had hells angels vests hanging every where, and then hobbled the 2 miles home. plopped in a new cap/rotor and alternator and vroom back to normal, tach was back to normal to.
  8. people will offer to help and show you stuff if your paying for a grand of work. Really though, you could have a running L28 in your car for less than $500, alot of people would be willing to help you get it in. Plus you can learn valuable info for anything in the future as far as swaps go. You'll probably have it up and running in a day or two for atleast half the cost.
  9. holy turn signals batman! is that an actualy sticker on your fender? It looks good even if it isn't real! and hate to be a troll and ask this question, but what airdam is that?
  10. no its not a joke, and at that price its rather tempting.
  11. I had the misfortune of owning a saab c900 as my first vehicle which was supposed to be extremely reliable and industructable, well I put it through hell and I can argue with indestructable, as far as reliable, forget about it. +1 to the chick/people magnet comment, they have no idea what kind of car a datsun is 60% of the time, but its loud and looks muscley but its mysterious enough people love it. Ive had a cop follow me to an auto parts store lot and say nice car and what no (when I really thought he was gonna give me a ticket for no front plate ) and assorted moments like that, it seems like everyone has owned one of these cars or knew someone who has. Go for it, I dont think you will ever regret it in the long run.
  12. oh, okay. pictures clear up alot. to paulo: how much did you have to machine on them?
  13. nice, I need to get one for the back and front of my car. damn tracks around here are sticklers.
  14. heh its kung fu panda with a good voice. thats insane.
  15. could the extra two wires your missing be the battery wires
  16. hmmm, opening up the center hole isn't an issue for me, the machine shops are a dime a dozen around here and wont charge much to open them up to the appropriate size, and new lug nuts arent to hard to come by lol. Im getting these for a steal so its worth it still. to paulo: or I can run spacers and not have to bore out the center hole? what size spacer, like 7mm or larger?
  17. you mean like the grease hub is gonna stick out? or the wheel literally wont fit over the front hubs?
  18. 100% bolt in coilovers. Turbo headers. and more wiring harness conversion kits for motors like Rb20/25/26 and VQ35.
  19. Hey, I was looking for some experienced peoples opinion, im picking up a set of 14x7 8 offset celica supra P-type's and I wanted to confirm that they will fit on a 280z? I recall that they may need spacers to clear the suspension, but if anyone has any other red flags that I should know about please share. P.S. they are on a ae86 so I know the hub bore and bolt pattern are correct, hell I even think the lug nuts are the right thread.
  20. im 6'2" 190 and I fit with plenty of room to spare.
  21. TTT favorite place ever. *the more you know*
  22. +1 Just reinforcing my earlier comments on having a shop build one to correct safety and driver specifications
  23. I weighed my 280z with no bumpers/bumper struts and no A/C and emissions garbage or air cleaner boxes, and no spare/tools with a full tank of gas, it weighed in at 2590, I have no Idea how much it weighed before all of that, but id say whatever stock is lol.
  24. exactly, reinforcement and the spread of force over an area. Same thing as when you use a hammer on metal, you use a block of wood to give a dead blow instead of a sharp peircing force. and mentioned above "autocross hits 60mph" up on the air force bases here in MT I hit 95mph coming out a sweeper according to my data recorder, regardless of driving by yourself on an auto-x track or on the road, having a cage that is properly built and installed will be an added comfort knowing that your safety isn't neglected. The world is full of stupid people, and stupid people with cars can be an issue anywhere you are, thats my idea anyway.
