  1. Thanks John Back together. Bought me a $1.77 pushrod and a $7.67 intake gasket set. Readjusted all valves. Honked Down on each allen/set screw. Then took her out. Of course Valve covers are puking oil again, Man I sound like Forrest. So we will need to seal that up as I am due to go to a purist z thrash this weekend at the local autox track.
  2. John Got the limiter set on 6300 right now. I have found some one local that hasa racig background that builds motor and has a salvage yard full of stuff. We have talked about building another motor for the car. 1st gen sbc based. Fast and hi revver. Talked alot about tall rods and short pistons. Squaring the block. making the bottom end bullet proof. Oiling windage valve train stability. I am looking forward to it.
  3. I finally got one horse moving and could turn my attention to the z. Here is what I found. Only one. On the loose rocker Well just replace it and adjust all as per directions given or do I need to look at something else. Valve stem and pushrod cup on rocker look OK some dings in the rocker outside the cup. Thanks as Always. Joe
  4. Hey Mike Let me know when you want to sell your existing heads.
  5. Mike please buy some other cars. that way you can keep sending discount used parts my way. BTW you got anything for sale? heads ? trannies? engines? cage material? brakes? So when are you gonna part out the z? Can I paypal ya for first dibs? No Joke Hey Mike. I applaud you interest in so many disciplines of motorsports even the dirt biking. HAHAHAHA. Performance is performance. Dragging is awesome. Road Racing is awesome. Z06 is IMO $4$ one of the best values. M roadsters are awesome. I like the Big M3 what is it an M46 a v8 stuffed into a 3 series chassis? I love australian/new zealand jet boat circuit racing. Isle of MAN TT and especially the german tractor trailer road racing. One thing that really blew my mind was the Movie "The worlds fastest indian". Now that was awesome. So forget about those who are closeminded and take some satisfaction in knowing what they are missing. Joe BTW do you take payal at this address? HAHAHAHHA
  6. Well I had it all wrong then. Lemme see if I understand this. feeler gage between roller and valve stem. With both the outter nut loose and the inner allen screw loose tighten the inner allen screw until lash is loosely set. Then turn both simultaneously in the same direction to lock?
  7. I adjust with the outer hex and lock into place with the inner allen bolt. Is this correct? What is the trick to keeping them in position. I am not sure how hard to turn the allen bolt. I just snug it after setting the lash. Solid cam. Thanks
  8. What a great car. I humbly bow to your efforts. What kind of laps times did you get?
  9. Doug I will get with Brady soon. Gotta get to the dyno for some baseline before I slap on a new set of heads. But when I get serious about going to the track I will see him as well. RPM is right up the street from brady. Maybe you have seen it. They usually set the race cars outside. The owner is an old aquaintance and actuall built the house we are in now as well as the next one. Mike As you probably remember I have had this chassis for 18 months. since completing the v8 conversion I have been working bugs and driving it on the street. this was a first move towards getting it track ready. all of the things everyone has mentioned will be gone over. As far as upgrade in suspension just sectioned strut towers , coilovers, adjustable camber plates, new cartridges. all stock control arms so far. Toyota brakes up front with carbotech race pads. Home made rear disk conversion. It will be awhile for I get to the track but being in a race shop again and talking the the talk started bringing it back.
  10. Well yesterday i went to RPM motorsports here in Yorktown VA. They are a Grand Am cup team here in my area. Anyway they were setting up the owners z. So I asked while they had the scales and strings setup could I be next. So on the scale I went. Car weighs 2570# with a 1/2 load of fuel. Found that the right front was toed in 15mm and left front was toed in 12 mm. The right rear was 0 and left rear out 1.5mm. String alignment. Well we corrected the fronts to 3 mm in. Front to rear the car was almost 50/50. Cross was 53% without me in it. When I got in it of course the majority of the added weight went to the left rear. The tires I have are not allowing me to get the ride height correct. 255/50/16s. so I have 3 choices. Roll the lips even more. Cut them and use flares. Stretch a 245/45/16 on 10 inch rims. Can be done. What would you do? The coilovers are dialed most of the way up to help clearance the tires. I need to get the car down.
  11. Man that thing is built like a tank. Makes me feel completely inadequate.
  12. I got a cap in fair shape if you want a deal.

  14. What kinda hp should I be getting with the setup I have now?
  15. I suppose I am getting about 270 rwhp now. Would like to get 350 hp to the wheel. 410-450 at the crank opn pump gas. Looking to do it all motor no dope no blow. Any advice to get from wherre I am to where I want to be is most appreciated Wow that is a good selling price I did not know they were worth that much. Would you happen to know the 041 runner sizes? are they about 150 cc? 1970 350 4 bolt. flat tops. 041s air gap and eddy 750 street. BTW these cheapo block huggers seem restrictive. Any ideas there Also if I go with a longer vavle would I need to buy a + .100" pushrods to maintain geometry? Thanks
  16. the heads I have are 041 casting 1.94/1.50 with .550 springs. I had new seats, seals,, valves and springs replace for my current build. I need more HP. I know buy different heads. I am running a .508 lift cam. In order to go to a higher lift cam say .600 .650 does one have to buy .100 longer valves to accommodate more travel? I am looking at the feasability of putting bigger 2.08/1.6 valves in these heads with a bigger lft cam. I will work the sharp edges above the valve seats and the inside radius as well as port match them. What spring/retainer/ valve setup would be recommended?
  17. Anyone got some decent heads with 2.02/1.6 190 - 205 runners they need to let go? I promise to give them a good home. This is not the place for this post and I put a post in the wanted section. I just wanted the Chevy guys to see it. Just got my a#$ handed to me by a bolton 2000 z28 ! Ugh! thanks
  18. Thanks guys. Broke out the timing light and set it for 34 total. Went over valve train again to make sure nothing was loose. Much smoother now. 280Z28 jnj grump anyone have any decents heads they want to let go cheap?

  20. Sorry Man I would have to research it as I am using an old accell cd system. I think the new msd digital boxes would fit your needs.
  21. Great shot it is now the background on my desktop
