  1. Thanks Man. I just got in from the garage. Cut that muffler off. Blew the seam apart. I never did like the muffler ever since I put it on. Just did it for the neighbors but oh well. Welded on a staight piece of 3". That will sound better. Shift light comes on at 7000 rpm and rev limited at 7200 right now.
  2. Been trying to get the exposure right on my camera. Anyway this is a vid of me and Cindy in the car with the new intake and BG Mighty Demon. Unfortunately at the very end There was a large off throttle back fire. Not sure what that is due to. Locked out timing? Some carb tuning? Remains to be seen. But it pulled good and hard with both of us in the car. Got to about 5000 rpm in 4th gear. Enjoy the ride!
  3. Yeah I have been trying to figure out which way I want to go. It will shut with no air cleaner but not alot of clearance there. I was thinking to cut hole to fit just the air cleaner throught and then get a cheap scoop. something inexpensive like this: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D470090&N=700+400304+1003+115&autoview=sku
  4. the last dyno made 283rwhp @ 4000 rpm and 330 ft/lbs Davy and Jason today's initial test run showed some backfire during of throttle events. Does this mean to rich of an idle setting?
  5. They are cheapy 2 pieces valve covers i bought to adjust rockers due to solid lifters and yes it is a 1st gen sbc. Yeah I gotta get my throttle linkage setup goos and do some grinding on my dizzy clamp. But she is holding water so that is good. So far I am very pleased with the setup. I will post the new dyno results when I get them. Man send pics of your setup. From the looks of the avatar it looks very interesting. Do you have a webpage or a spec page some where?
  6. Well my new single plane and Barry Grant Mighty Demon is in. Got some tightening and tuning to do. But here are some pics. Now off to the dyno to see the difference. Doesnt feel like there is much holding it back now!!!!
  7. http://www.torquenstein.net/movies/imv/IMVFilms_JoesGTTT.wmv Just saw this and thought I would post it. Awesome Power.
  8. Good thread. Very honest. It is always good to here about another who chases one issue only to find it is another. Thanks for telling us about it.
  9. Man I hear ya. I cant see how that could happen unless the cam timing was off. If it is not off and it is due to decked block and shaved head it would be nice to know if it where the intake or exhaust. With the decking and shaving do you have alot of slack in your timing chain or have you compensated for that with cam tower shims? Just trying to get a feel for how much material is missing? Does the head still have the reflief marks or has it been surfaced past those? #1 up tdc, lobes at 10 and 2?
  10. Bought a single plane intake from Racer's Outlet and a BG Mighty demon . I will get them on and get back to the dyno soon. That oughta help on the top end!!! Anybody want a great deal on a set of sidepipes? Stainless Steel!
  11. Is it possible or is it cost prohibitive to convert an Alky Holley to a Gas Holley. I see alot of Alky holleys on ebay going cheaper than the gas ones.
  12. Been searchin ebay and such for a decent carb at a good price. Thought I might ask here as well. 750 - 950 Holley HP Double Pumper Choke not needed Mech 2ndaries thanks Joe
  13. Ok maybe it was just the weather. We had a couple mild days. I took the car out for a drive. It has been awhile. I always get chills when first driving it. That old feelin came back. Looked around town for something to F%^K with and there was nothing. So I headed out to the interstate. After getting temps and pressures stabilized along comes this '02 '03 GTI with a black fart can and Cali plates, I guess it is a 1.8 L turbo maybe some aftermarket crap on it. So i tail him in the HOV for a few when he punches it. After I recoverred from the plume of black smoke he pumped out i nailed it and closed the gap. WE then let off. He went to the inside lane and I pulled up beside him and gave him a thumbs up. I then rolled ahead then pulled into the slow lane in front of some traffic. I waited for him and saw him pass me in the far lane. I eased up on him and got window to window. Then he jumped. I got into it and we went from about 65mph. I pulled away from him slowly then I looked at the tach and saw 6000 rpm so I got out of it. Bout 120mph. Felt good and man what a great sound is a sbc v8 at 6000+ rpm.

  17. Yeah Thanks guys. I have been doing burnouts in 2nd cause they last longer and provide blue smoke wheel spin. Should have used first in hind sight with the extra weight. When launching in first it hits the limiter almost immediately. 2nd provides a little more time to shift.
  18. Well I been spinning my tires all over town. 1st gear... 2nd gear... no problems. The car weighs 2580 and I go 220. So I take it to work to show a buddy. We both pile our fat a@#es in it and head down the road. Launch from a dead in 2nd and the clutch smokes. Now the clutch doesnt owe me anything. I guess the extra 200 lbs of the riders was just enough to tip the scales. Now the question is After it cools will it ever grab again? I guess we will find out. anyway recommendations on a 10.5" 10 spline setup for a 1st gen chevy. Nothing to elaborate. Budget. 330 rwtorque posi 255/50/16s. Muncie 4 speed. Thanks Joe
  19. Forces Awesome Man. Nothing like the first crank. Congrats. Please send pics and VIDEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! with Sound
