  1. Yes, but I switch between regular unleaded for the street and race fuel at the track. Alcohol requires double the fuel so it would be more work unless I also run alcohol on the street......but it sure would cool the boost.
  2. Not Much. Flat tops are probably over 10:1 CR in a 383. Long ago my 383 quickly burned up a "forged piston" at that CR with 10 psi boost and 100 octane race fuel. 8.5 CR dished pistons and 17 psi followed. Hanns
  3. I bought 3 Taurus fans for $20 each. When I got home I discovered that none of them worked.....until I eliminated the plugs. The wires inside the plugs had internally corroded. This was my experience and may not have happened to others. I'm just saying don't discard the fan when you connect it with the original plug because you may only have to eliminate the plug to make it work. Once I installed the Taurus fan my TTChevy engine never overheated again.
  4. Amazing....somebody worked very hard to put this together.
  5. Happy Birthday, Bart. You don't look that old!!! Have a great day. Hanns
  6. Currently I see 161 members logged on, only 23 of them are donating members. That may be part of the problem.
  7. FANTASTIC !!! Those are great et's and 60 ft times. Keep on making us proud.
  8. I vote for Z GAD!! No Question. Even though I drive my Z regularly on the street, I always tow it when I take it to the strip. Because stuff happens. I haven't had a chance to race my Z with the bigger turbos and larger 406 Chevy engine but my 383 was running mid 9's at 145 mph through the mufflers. Hanns
  9. The same Z does a good burnout in pic #127 of the 5-10-07 race date. There are several pics of my Z, over the past few years, on this site. Mike, the photographer, is at Irwindale every Thursday night taking pics
  10. Ben, "you talking to me???" This is an old thread when my Z was only running High 9's in the quarter. The 9.50's runs were last year with the 383. I haven't raced the new engine and turbos, yet. I have a Ford 9" rear diff- what did you mean??? When will we see some action from your TTV8 or are you too busy with the Mazda? Hanns
  11. Thanks Jerry, I'm using a combination of Holley and Proform parts 750 DP. Recently, the carb was modified by a local carb expert that I read about from Turbomustangs.com (CSU, Carburetor Solutions Unlimited). He modified my carb even more than I had initially done. Added 12 hole annular boosters for great street driveability, sealed throttle shafts if I want to use a hat instead of the box, and Boost Referenced Power Valves front and rear. The pv's can be adjusted to open at a predetermined boost level. So street cruising is lean until you get boost. Then they open up and greatly enrich the mixture. This also prevents bogging at launch due to an excessively rich fuel mixture. So far it works well on the street. Hanns
  12. I enjoyed meeting and talking to you. Thanks for asking me to start the engine. This gave me an excuse to violate the shows' ban on doing this. I'm hoping to get new 1/4 mile racing video before too long. Bart, I will post next time I race the Z and give you a call. Hanns
  13. This was at Irwindale, a 1/8th mile track where I was running 6.30's at 116 mph. Most recently, with my 383 and Rajay turbos, I was running the quarter in 9.50's at 145 mph. I have not yet raced with the new Turbonetic Turbos and the 406 engine. Candaddy350z, I don't know how to contact Fred Sangalang but maybe someone else on this site does since he is a member. Hanns
  14. Thanks for posting, Luis. And congratulations to our Hybridz winners. I was totally surprised about winning. I didn't even come close to winning anything at MSA for the last 4 years and I just enjoyed showing and seeing all the other Z cars. Maybe they just felt pity for this "little old Senior Citizen" this year. Ulises, sorry I never got a chance to take that long walk to see your Z in person. Although it is awesome from the photos, people have told me it is better yet to see it in person. Hanns
  15. David, Really enjoyed meeting and talking to you. Glad you got back safely. Too bad you didn't stop by at a lower traffic level time so I could have given you a turboV8 Z ride in the neighborhood. Hanns
  16. I can sum up the new ride as "SCARY" when it boosts up. I punched it a few times on a deserted road, while in second gear, and heard myself screaming like a "girly-man". I don't know how or even if it will launch cleanly while racing, but the sheer acceleration under boost seems greater than before. But then I haven't driven it for a while and probably forgot how it ran before. So maybe it's all in my mind that it's faster now. Last year I ran 9.53 at 145 mph. Bschiltz, My friend is reinstalling the Rajays on his 2200 lbs Vega for drag racing. Thanks for the comments everyone. Hanns
  17. K & N makes a foam strip that I can cut to size and then wind around both mesh filters as many times as there is room. It secures with velcro strips and should be sufficient as a fine particle catcher on the street. Or I can get a narrow round filter that is squeezed between both turbos like I was using with my Rajay turbos.
  18. Thanks for the comments. These are my "Race Filters" and I made them out of a $5 kitchen strainer. Keeps the big chunks out.
  19. If everything is equal the A/R ratio of the turbine and compressor determine spool-up time. On the same engine the smaller A/R will spool faster but trade top-end power. As you know, the Rajay turbine connects directly to the compressor. The modular TO4's separate the compressor and turbine with a bearing housing. The turbine wheel and shaft are different because of the semi floating bearings used by the Rajay.
  20. New turbos have been installed and the Z will be at the MSA Car Show this Sunday. While I was at it I also increased the displacement of my engine. While Dr Hunt suggested ,last year, that I stroke the engine, I told him that there would be "no stroking". However, I recently did a lot of boring and honing to my old Motown small block Chevy and now it is a 406 cubic inch engine. Not a whole lot bigger than the 388 but every little bit helps. It runs well, but no time for racing right now. Hanns
  21. I agree with Pete. My 383 had this modification for the last 6 years. This is extra insurance that all of my oil is filtered all of the time.
  22. I had twin 375 E 80 Rajays for my 383 Chevy. Running 145 mph in the quarter with my Z computes to 700 rear wheel horsepower at 17 psi. I believe the inducer was 54 mm for the compressor and is T04B size. The 60 A/R will spool much quicker for your L engine than the 80. However, the T3/T04B will be more efficient and it is a modular design. I recently bought bigger Turbonetics turbos than the Rajays at a cheaper price. Turbonetics, now the sole manufacturer of Rajays, stated no more Rajay parts and turbos will be made once the current supply is exhausted.
