  1. No dyno #s. It weighs 2950 with my big butt in it(2710 without).
  2. No, there is a full exhaust with mufflers dumping by the rear end. The exhaust sound is more noticeable at idle then when there is backpressure under boost. That's why spectators in the stands tell me they can hardly hear the engine as the Z accelerates down the track.
  3. Davy, Some experts have told me that I'm giving up 100 HP by not having decent exhaust headers. They could be right but I like the square tubing for several reasons: * Custom headers for the Z were quoted at $2600 * Square tubing at $20...and additional for welding * Low profile tubing means everything fits in stock engine compartment * Thick square tubing is quieter for "Sleeper" effect. On my recently posted racing video, You can clearly hear my tires screeching upon transitioning out of the burnout but barely the engine. When I shift to 2nd you can also hear the tires chirp part way down the track. Thanks for the interest. Hanns
  4. This is a short video of the major components of my 409 small block Chevy engine. Kind of boring but the engine looks good. Hanns http://vimeo.com/8141967
  5. From the windshield back there is an unknown enamel paint job that was on the car when I bought it 10 years ago. The front has a custom 2 step paint that was applied to match the existing color. The hood is 2002 Porsche red and is close but not perfect match' Thanks, I appreciate everyone's comments. Hanns
  6. So the "Battle of the imports" is only based on chassis, not engine? Thanks for the comments, guys. If you have an imported car with a domestic engine you can only compete in bracket racing, not a specific class. Then they take the quickest 16 cars out of all the bracket racers and form Quick 16 Bracket so that fast cars wouldn't have to race against the really slow bracket racers. Let me tell you there were a bunch of slow cars there....but they had fun, too. I ran 9.44 last year when the engine leaned out and burned pistons. My current tune is still too rich, but it's safe. Hanns
  7. Thanks to a Hybridz member, Corpcrim, for alerting me to internet pics of my car at the 11-22-09 race in Fontana. Here is the link to a video of my race. http://vimeo.com/8007667 My first qualifying race was against a GTR, driven by Ed Bergenholtz. And as the announcer said, "This could be a pretty good matchup here". Not!! I was the # 1 Qualifier in the Quick 16 bracket and had to give everyone a 2 second headstart.
  8. 8.5:1 40*-1* per psi of boost with MSD BTM(15 psi) Found out Thursday night at Irwindale that WOT is 9.5 AFR. Will go to BOTI at Fontana next week and jet down.
  9. My engine always likes a lot of timing. Race fuel also requires more timing in my experience. All engines are different but I would suggest inreasing the timing, little by little, until she blows up!
  10. Awesome performance and great video!
  11. Yes, solid mounted with 2 grade 8, 3/8" bolts on each side. Plate is 1/4" thick...standard Chevy plate from Summit Racing. But I added a small extension on the driver's side to attach the alternator. The rubber material on that side shields the alternator electrical output wire from contacting the plate. Ends are doubler welded for additional attachement rigidity...but not necessary. Ride is not harsh because I still have stock springs and struts in front and I loosen up my rear adjustable shocks when street driving.
  12. Here is my plate mount. No mid-mount used. No travel limiters because the engine does not move. Urethane trans mount without problems for almost 10 years. But frame rails and mounting flanges well fortified to hold estimated 800 + HP.
  13. Yes, they will look the same but you are faster. Haven't you gone 9.10? Hanns
  14. The poster pic may not be the one with M/T tires but this one is!
  15. 17-20 psi with 3-5 psi at launch. bleakdragonmage.....no control.... the exhaust turbine housing A/R dictated how fast and how much boost was produced. My Rajays with the 383 had .80 A/R and made 17 psi. I changed the A/R to .60 and made 30 psi but it was too much. My new turbos had .96 A/R with the 406 engine and made 20 psi. when I fabricated the wastegate system I also changed the new turbos to .81 A/R. This will create boost with less lag yet max boost will now be controlled. I'm starting with no more than 15 psi until I know the fuel system can properly handle it. megatherion... I have a thread in Motorsport section about a website with some videos. VIMEO.COM.. search for Turbo Meister. rusorbust....The plexiglass box worked well and looked cool, but I wanted to try the carb hat idea for a while. stony...the wastegates enter the downpipe....because I'm such a considerate person and because my Z is all about being a SLEEPER. Thanks for the interest everyone. Hanns.
  16. Finally decided to get wastegates for my turbos. After years of running the twin turbo chevy engine without them, I decided I wanted to control the boost instead of having the boost control me!! I'm hoping everything will work properly. Soon the engine will go back into the Z. Hanns
  17. I would like to know how you got that shirt you are wearing from the mean looking guy pictured in your avatar.
  18. Doc, You should not need restrictors. Most problems with turbo oiling in the exhaust is due to insufficient draining or excessive crankcase pressure. 1/2" drains are too small. 3/4" or 12 AN is better. Make sure that CC blowby does not create too much pressure, thus preventing drainage back into the pan. Hanns
