  1. Just an update: Yesterday I shipped 4 (individually boxed) 18x8 wheels out using Fedex Ground. Delivery time 1 to 5 business days, tracking numbers included, and insured... all for $48.92. Granted this was from California to Arizona, but hey... not bad.
  2. OMG... I didn't realize that chickens were people too! I'm so ashamed of myself.
  3. LOL! That is hilarious! Now if only we could find the drink that contains male hormones... and then market it for women.
  4. I'm in the same boat (18x8 Gram Lights). Check out: Fedex Rates I've run throught the rate generator and for 4 packages (25lbs ea, 20x20x12, declared value $450) I typically come up with estimates of ~$50 West coast and ~$110 East Coast. $50 seems kinda low to me... so I need to contact Fedex and make sure that this is not the cost PER package.
  5. I'm watching the auction, too. My wife's uncle owns a shop that produces fiberglass molds and parts and I work in Torrance (live in LB) and can pick them up quite easily.
  6. Cool... another SoCal RB'er. I'm moving to Long Beach this weekend (from Ontario).
  7. Ooh... I want. Hopefully they're not too banged up
  8. True... but I'll let my company purchase it.
  9. I teach/tutor SolidWorks on the side and my experience introducing individuals to use the program has been bitter-sweet. Many of my students are making the transition from AutoCad to SW and have a difficult time de-learning some of the AC mentalities. Solidworks approaches design differently than AC (or any Autodesk products) and this is often the biggest hurdle in the path of any individual attempting to learn how to use it's features and functions (to maximum effect). SW, perhaps because of its parametric design, is much more intuitive and efficient than AC and free's up the designers time and mental powers for more 'design-oriented' tasks. But, like anything else, it takes time to learn. I'm not going to say that its BETTER than any other solid modeling product on the market, but for me it has been a great tool. I use v2004 and soon will have v2005. It's affordable enough also that I can purchase a copy for personal use.
  10. I'll take my copy of SolidWorks 2005 over anything (that I've used so far). I started using AutoDesk products in 1990 and... I'll never go back. LOL
  11. The civil war starts in 2004! Oh no...
  12. NZeder, Custom steel flares is an option I have considered, too. Since I already have the VB's I'm just going to modify them to accomodate my wheel/tire size. It's going to be a bit o'work, but it will turn out just fine. I still have 2 weeks or so until my MML stubs arrive. I'm hoping my coilovers will be here this week so I can begin cutting them down and installing them on the struts. CCW's will be here in 2 weeks... Probably by the end of June I will resurrect this thread and post pics of the progress.
  13. You're right. With some manipulating I think I can stretch that another inch. I don't have too much time right now, but when I start the project I'll document it.
  14. The ones used in the link posted by Dudeboy are fiberglass. The pantera flares are (cosmetically) very similar to the VB's. I'm going to wait until the suspension is in place and the wheels are mounted before I move forward. I think I'm going to make the VB's fit... just going to be quite a bit of work.
  15. I see what you're sayin... I was just looking at it from an overall width perspective.
  16. And here's the Engine bay cleaned up and primered. I removed the latch mount (I will be running hood pins) and filled in a few holes on the firewall that will no longer be needed:
  17. I know that BigJim recently installed a set of these for another member... and they came out awesome. Looking at the last picture above you can definately tell that there is not a 3.5 inch difference from the stock fenders. If you lay them flat on the ground and measure to the highest point along the inner fender edge you can come up with 3.5"... but NOT mounted on the car. Now... on a more positive note: I reworked the radiator support panel to accomodate the IC I bought from JamieT. Cut some holes to make is sit back inside and somewhat flush with the panel. Turned out pretty good. Some finishing touches are needed, but hey: From the Rear:
  18. Well, Mocked up my VB flares today and I was a tad disappointed. The quality of the pieces are excellent... but they don't flare 3.5 inches in the rear or 2.5 inches in the front. Here's a mock up shot: And from the rear: I love the way these flares look! But I bought these bad boys so I could stuff my 11" wide CCW's and a 315/35 in there. I don't think that's gonna happen. Here's a shot from underneath:
  19. I'm with ya. I was anticipating this stuff... I just find some of it humorous.
  20. Now... not all people are cheap. Let me get that out of the way. LOL I'm constantly amazed by the 'cheapness' of individuals in the car-loving-community. I've had two fairly large ticket (over $1500) items that I have put up for sale recently. The first was a blacktop S13 motorset. Pristine condition, excellent compression, good leakdown. Cleaned, polished and meticulously prepared to install into my Z. Got an RB instead and put the SR up for sale. I paid close to $2000 for this bad boy and all I wanted out of it was $1500. Fairly reasonable I think. There were some serious individuals interested in the motor, but I was absolutely dumbfounded by some of the offers (and questions) I recieved. I had one guy offer me $700 (and could I pay for shipping to NY?), another one $800, and was told by one gentleman that the motor was not worth more than $1000 (He'll do me a favor and offer me $1200). I eventually pulled the ad and traded the motor for a GTS-T tranny and some RB parts. The second were my 18x8, zero offset, Gram Light 57-Pro's. I paid darn near $2000 for these bad boys and they had to be custom ordered from Japan (due to the offset). Well... switched to CCW's... put the GL's up for sale. 8 million questions about wheel offset and bolt pattern (hey, good practice)...2 offers for $500 ($750 after I explained that they had only been out of the box twice and were in supremely excellent condition). One offer to trade for a GSR (I think) motor, two requests for monthly payments (but they wanted the wheels delivered after a small deposit), and one wanting to know my minimum price (which they then undercut by $200). Oh, yeah... 1 email telling me my wheels were fake because of the shade of gold on the rims and another because Volk Racing never made a zero offset wheel like this. Sigh I realize (acutely) that this hastle comes with the territory (selling items on the internet)... so I try to laugh some of this stuff off. But sometimes it makes me wary of selling things. The wheels never sold... perhaps I'll hang them on the wall... so they can be admired. Too bad they're the wrong bolt pattern for my Sube. SO... I'm sure we've all had some sort of issue peoples audacity. If you've got a funny, or outrageous experience... post a reply.
  21. Cool... so I'm not the only one who likes the second gen camaro! Lol
  22. It's a great looking car. I love the stance. One more question: Do you know if the flares were worked to be wider? I'm a tad paranoid that my wheels will end up wider than my flares. VB flares ain't cheap! Lol
  23. Thanks Mike! Had you not said anything I wouldn't have figured those were 18's. Great fitment. How wide are his rear flares? They're not IMSA's are they? You said he has ample coilover clearance... is he running a 5" bs or a 5-3/4" bs?
