  1. Brian, I think I have one. Let me check when I get home this afternoon. How soon do you need it?... I can drive it down or you can meet me half way. Keith
  2. I won't be ready to buy it for another month, so if you find another buyer... go for it... I'll understand
  3. The motor borrows heavily from the GSX-R, so it can be quite potent. I'm going to look for a 600. I don't need the power that the 1200 offers... my Z will be fast enough!
  4. I know there are alot of riders here so I thought I would show off what I want to do in the future (1 year). It doesn't have gobs of horsepower and it's definately NOT exotic... but it's cool none-the-less (to me!). I've always liked naked bikes... I just don't want to spend the money on say... a Speed Tripple! Thumbnails: And another variation: These bikes are 'Streetfighter' versions of the Suzuki Bandit.
  5. Is that for real? I just figured it was computer generated.
  6. I couldn't find my box on thier website, but this one is close to the size (25"x15" working area) and did not come with a light.: Small Cabinet (bench top) IF I had the space I would get this one: Large Cabinet (stand alone) Although mine did not come with a light we went ahead and installed one that we had laying around the garage. The media recovery is a nice feature... but I need more room. I guess it just comes down to cost. If it's something you're going to use ALOT then perhaps you can justify a larger cabinet. I use an old window screen to filter large particles from the media. Works great.
  7. Depends on where you live. Look at the 'RB30' post... there is a brief discussion on RB costs (in AUS). $2500 is a pretty good deal. Will they provide compression numbers? Can you view the motor prior to the purchase? If not... have you seen pictures?

RB26's are that expensive there? I didn't realize there was such a price differential between the two (US and AUS). $8000 AUS is equivalent to ~$6300 US. $6300 is pretty pricey. So... in light of recent evidence... I retract my statement.
  9. I got mine from HF as well. I got the smaller box and... I'm not too happy with it. It's great for small parts (say...12"x12"). My rear control arms, valve covers, intake manifold... too hard to manuever in the box. I like Tim's idea the best... even if room is not at a premium.

RB26's have come way down in price. You can find motors from $2500+ and motorsets from $4000+. I paid $2500 for my R33 and $1200 for the GTS-T transmission.
  11. I have R32 GTR brakes for my 240z. I will NOT have a stock disk setup because I am converting to 5-lug. I'm about 99% positive you will have to fabricate (machine) brackets to mount and position the brakes correctly.
  12. I can tell you, though, that they had to widen the trans tunnel to get the center console to fit correctly. Bear in mind that if you are a tall driver, like me, this may cut down on some of your leg room. I didn't get a chance to sit in the Vildini car (d'oh) to verify this, though... so it's only conjecture.
  13. This has been done several times. SR240Z (Vildini Motorsports) has done an amazing job of fitting an S13 dash into the S30. IIRC they had to shorten each side by roughly 1.5 - 2.0" and the front by 6". I would suggest PM'ing SR240Z. Alex and his father are great guys and can definately point you in the right direction. http://www.vildinimotorsport.com/ Pic of dash: http://www.sr240z.com/srpictures/20.jpg
  14. Correct. The mounts shown in the picture above are the Infinity Machining units. You will also need to buy the Supra isolators (or mounts... however you want to say it). The infinity mounts bolt to the block and the Supra mounts bolt to the crossmember. You then bolt the engine/mounts to the crossmember/mounts. Cool? I hope I'm not being too confusing... its 4am.
  15. That has a habit of happening, don't it?
  16. I only make a respectable living , and I have to drive 54 miles one way to do it, too. I still can't afford a house! Lol I'm hoping the California market will eventually adjust itself (it has to level off sometime). Recent demographic surveys showed that only 17% of Los Angeles residents could afford to buy thier homes at the current market value. That number drops to 13% in Orange County. I'm thinking there are alot of people getting 'interest only' loans to do it.
  17. Sorry for the delay. Still have the motor. Haven't been trying TOO hard to sell it since I've been pretty busy with work and life (haven't even had much time to spend with the Z). I might be out of town next week. I don't know if I can get pics up in time... but I'll try. Specs: Internally stock and in good shape Approx 40k miles Greddy intake manifold Not much... but hey... it's stock!
  18. I know...It's crazy. My house in Oklahoma (stationed there for 5 years) cost 63k and was 1200 sq ft. with a 2 car garage and a large yard. Sometimes I miss the affordability that region offers. Pay is greater out here (typically) but it's not proportional.
  19. I'm sooo tired of CA. We've been talking about moving to Arizona or Nevada. The cost of housing there is beginning to climb in responce to the So.Cal market. Starter homes in my neck of the woods cost $380,000. That's a crappy two bedroom, 1 car garage @ ~1000sqf.
  20. That's why you have to buy a dailer driver that is fun right out of the box! That satiates some of the impulsive desire to modify and allows you to spend money on the Z.
  21. Was that $200 JUST to paint it, or did that include final fitment and prep? If so... $200 isn't too unreasonable. I can't vouch for the quality of the Japanese part, but mine required a fair amount of sanding and filling to look right. What type of finish are you looking for? If you're not overly worried about color matching then a rattle-can job can look pretty decent
  22. Well... get the learning curve (experimenting) outta the way in the engine bay before you apply color to the exterior panels. Save you quite a bit of hassle in the end.
  23. I did the same thing Mat73GNZ did and it worked like a charm. I ordered my spoiler from MSA and the fitment was absolutely terrible. I guess that's to be expected considering the age of the tooling and the cost of the part.
  24. Glenn, who owns Upgrade Motoring, is a Z-car guy. He is extremely knowledgeable and can probably answer this question for you quite easily.
  25. without conspiracies some people wouldn't even have a life: I agree with the grain of salt tactic. On a side note: In the AF we used to fly missions (post 9-11) all over the US 'guarding' potential 'targets' (Superbowl's, G8 summits, Presidential vacations...etc.). I can't tell you how many times we were asked (even by AF personell) if we ever shot any airliners down. This rumor/speculation/whatever has been going around for a long time... [sigh]. You would be surprised, however, at how many commercial/private pilots would forget to change (or check) thier transponder codes... even after 9/11. Silly guys.
