  1. Pardon my humor here but... I'm going to be putting a few of those switches in my car (for various reasons ) and all I can think of, when I see them, is the sound of turbines winding up. "Fuel pressure - CHECK, Hydraulics - CHECK, Flaps full forward and detent - CHECK..." I've got a few extra if you're so inclined...
  2. 3/8" was what I had in stock. If I was going to order it again I would probably go with 1/2". The OE material on my car was worn pretty far down and it was difficult to tell what the original material height was. This foam can be compressed quite a bit while still maintaining its usefulness... so you can't go wrong by going slightly thicker. Thanks. I'm in body/paint stage right now so she's not looking altogether pretty at the moment. But there is nothing wrong with talking cars. Before I got my WRX WRB was my first color choice.
  3. Looks clean! Here is what I'm using: Go to: http://www.mcmaster.com put 8694K83 into the search box: BTW... my car isn't too far from you. It's in Riverside.
  4. I've found that it's mostly the Mk IV guys who are the pricks.
  5. IIRC many of the current aftermarket BOV's don't have much of an issue with releasing metered air into the engine compartment. There was a post (found in my search) where the HKS SSQV was discussed: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=97342&highlight=bov It was mentioned that the design prevented it from venting under partial throttle (vacuum). THAT, however... is the another topic. I think an electronic valve would be a good idea and I wonder why I haven't heard more about it. Seems, to me atleast, to be the logical evolution of the units common today.
  6. I ran across this article today and found it a bit interesting. http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2188/article.html
  7. Maybe sbc 400 and I could split the work? Get things out faster.
  8. We need to generate a list of candidates (with pics). Hopefully there are more than 12 Then we could have a poll to determine the 'top 12' Assuming the selected 12 are willing to participate and have pictures taken (or can provide them) the graphics layout process should take no longer than 3 months. There is then plenty of time for pre-production approvals and editing.
  9. My favorite part: "serious buyers allowed to e-mail me if you buy it with cash$$$$$ i'll lowered to $1600 CCCAAAAAASSSSH only $$$$$$$$$$$"
  10. I think Yasin is talking about the removal of the Crank Angle Sensor. IIRC the RB26DETT never had VVT.
  11. That's what I was thinking. I have a Japanese Skyline magazine (Club Tuning & Modify Skyline no. 20) in front of me now that's laid out very similar. Better than just one large shot. Hey, if someone wants to send me some hi-res pics of thier car and a small bio I'll put together a sample tonight and post it back up tomorrow? Anyone down? keith.hadley@hap.com
  12. I've been giving this a spot o' thought. I can do the layouts, composition and correction. When selected cars are in the SoCal region my wife can take the pictures (we have several high-res digital cameras, 35mm's...etc. and she is HUGE into photography) We can set up a 'panel' of selected Admins, Mods (whoever) that can 'approve' the layouts. Pre-production layout's (with several versions of each) can be submitted for general recommendations and then returned to me (assuming I'm selected for that role ). If the 'panel' is in my area we can meet in person to go over the final proofs. I think this is an awesome and very realistic idea and I would love to be able to be a part... to contribute back to a wonderful community. I think a good spread size (not including the calender section) would be around 16"w X 11-12"h. That would allow a nice sized main shot and ample room for smaller, amplifying, photos (detail shots, WIP shots...etc) and text.
  13. I'm pretty handy with photoshop and have done some graphical layouts before (fliers, ads...etc.). If there are no full time Graphic Artists willing to take on the task I can definately do so. Just have to watch color correction and be able to obtain high resolution pics.
  14. I have spoken with Rick Wong (Infinity Machining) and he has informed me that he plans to continue making these mounts. There was, at one time, some question as to whether or not they were still going to be made available. They are. Due to material costs Rick machines them in groups of 4-5. Several members have PM'd me asking how to contact Infinity Machining. I will include the E-mail address below. I'm not associated with Infinity Machining in any way I just want to provide the information for those who are interested in these mounts. Please direct your questions to: infinitymachining@shaw.ca Edit: Probably should have posted this in the RB links sticky. Do we have any moderators specifically for this sub-forum? If someone can show me how to move this I gladly will.
  15. No offense...but it doesn't sound like you're ready! Please read this first
  16. Our numbers are growing! Congrats Jamie! 400 RWHP on stock twins, eh? Every time I look at my '26 I want to wring my hands and laugh maniacally ("Excellent Smithers!")
  17. No pictures as of yet. I have to finish my stub axles before I can mount them up. I cut off the original stub axle flange and made up a new one (I work around a machine shop) and then had it welded up professionally. I've got one finished... I just need to finish the other one. 18's are big... for sure, but it'll look right in the end (to my eyes ).
  18. Don't be discouraged yet. Let's look at this from another direction. You have a garage. That's a big think in SoCal! Do you have the money for the initial investment? (atleast the motor... which I can get you for $2500) When the time comes can you afford to have your car down for 2 months? Are you SERIOUS about this swap? There are several of us in the LA area. IF you are serious and can actually afford to buy parts bit by bit (without getting killed by your wife) you will recieve mucho help. Everyone has something to learn and everyone has something to teach.
  19. Edit - MtCookson beat me to it! It's not a typo. It's a diesel engine (obviously). I don't think they were sold too much here in the states (I could be wrong on that one). It was non turbo, had 21:1 compression, 85mm bore x 83mm stroke, and came in the Nissan Gloria and the Patrol (I think).
  20. Well... McKinney Motorsports (in Murrieta) might be able to do the swap for you. Expect to pay BIG bucks to have a shop do the work. Parts alone may run you in excess of $8,000 ($3500 to $4000 - motor, $1000 to $1200 - tranny, $1500 to $2000 - EMS, $800 - intercooler, $300 - driveshaft, $300 to $500 exhaust, nuts and bolts, intercooler piping... etc.) Minimum total of above (that have dollar signs) = $7,400 Most shops work at (roughly) $50-60/hr Throw in any custom fabrication that is/might be required (like motor mounts and tranny mounts) and the price goes up. If YOU source the parts you might be able to save some $$. Motors CAN be found for $2500 and mounts can be purchased (Rick Wong at Infinity Machining). Other deals might be out there... When you say 'you don't have the means' are you meaning that you don't have the time, space (garage), tools/equipment, experience...etc?
  21. My Infinity Machining mounts came in today. In case anyone is wondering... this is what they look like: A guy I know installed an earlier set on his RB25 and had to do some trimming to clear the forward oil return line. This set appears to have a relief already incorporated. We shall see tonight!
