ME AND MY EVIL TWIN ROAD ROAD RACING LS2 AND LS7 RX7'S (pics)
LS1 Z posted a topic in Non Tech Board
Mike (mas280) and I went road racing for the first time last month. What a blast!! Mike got me into drag racing last year and I enjoyed it alot and did alot of but kicking in the LS1-Z! Road racing is a whole different animal!! And what a kick in the pants! We were up at Thunder Hill! Had a great time! Going up again next week. Mike was running Nitto NT-01 tires and stuck like glue. I Had street tires and was sliding all over the place! Next week I will be using SSR GT-7 rims and Nitto NT-01 tires! Here is some pics! Mike http://gotbluemilk.com/web060913/6015/index.html and me http://gotbluemilk.com/web060913/bmjoey/index.html Enjoy! JOEY -

My Z has been on the road for going on 2 years. Trying to remember..... I believe it took me 7-8 months. My new baby, 95 RX-7, LS2 Stroker (402) and t-56 has been on the road going on 3 weeks. That swap took me about 10 months. Seems like long amount of times. I repair everybody elses cars all week. Sooo the times are alot and mainly weekends. I've pretty much have had zero problems with either one. I'll do a post on the RX-7 soon!!! I love the car! It's super cool!! JOEY

CONGRATS!!! Glad to help out! My exhaust also (same as yours) to me seems too low! Mike (mas280) thinks the exhaust could have been tucked up higher. Hoover told me thats as high as he could get it. Have you blew out those paper collector gaskets yet? Mine lasted about 30 miles! Copper is the way to go. O.K. I'll leave the exhaust alone....... Except.... Isn't the sound awesome!!! I believe the 15x8 with 5 inch back spacing is correct and my MT drag radials are 235/60/15. Thats the biggest you can stuff in there. Looking forward to seeing you at the track. Forget the seeing...... Racing you at the track! Again Nice, Nice job! JOEY

To answer some questions?? Yes the LS1Z is alot faster than that! My best with the car is a 11.39 @ 119.00. I've rolled off alot of 11.4's at 120 to 122. That was when the car was dynoed at 416 rwhp 402 torque! Back then the car HAD 2.5 to 3 crush bent crap exhaust and Zo6 intake. Now has 3 to 3.5 all manderal and stainless. The car also has the Fast 90/90 and a velocity stack. With this set up the car dynoed 445 rwhp and 415 torque! The problem? 1. My tech was driving the car and has never drag raced before! 2. The car is having clutch hydralic problems. At high speeds it is next to imposible to get into any gear. Meaning in most of the runs he was going from 2nd to 4th or coasting through the traps. Gonna switch out the s10 clutch master to Wilwood. The LS2-RX7 too will be alot quicker. I had a hell of a time trying to get the car to hook up. Alot different than the Z. Only been on the road for 3 days. Needs to be dynotuned. When the 402 was in MAS280'S RX-7, He ran a best of 10.8 @ 130 something! Stay tuned!!! JOEY p.s. Gonna go roadracing up in THUNDERHILL tomorrow in the LS2-RX7, With MAS280 in his LS7-RX7!!!!

HA HA HA!!!! LS1 240Z!! I will have the best of both worlds with in the month!!! Meaning my LS1 Z has been on the road for about a year and a half. The car is a work of art and goes like hell. The 95 FD will be super nice and sport 100 more rwhp and 100 more foot pounds of torque. I kind of consider it a modern day version of the Z. Soon to be completed! JOEY

Turbohoses never got back in touch with me. Sooo I decided to go with Justin. For those of you that don't know Justin, He owns Samberg Rod and Custom in Bencia. He did all of the fabricating and metal work on Darius's Z. Maybe LS1240Z will chime in here. We talked about 3" oval off the headers to a resonator, to 3.5 round, to a round Magnaflo out the back, Similiar to yours and Mike's. Oh yea, all stainless! JOEY

Great job Mike!!! As for the shop.... Anytime! Wish I was here to help out! I'm glad all worked out with my tech! JOEY P.S. FD is going out for exhaust tomorrow! Stay tuned...

Cool hanging out with you guys on Sunday. Oh yea and excellent food! The vidio does give the car justice but not what it deserves... Meaning after you guys left, Mike (mas280) and I came to the conclusion the Z wasn't runnining right. Something was off. We spent a couple more hours going through the LS2 wiring, which is nothing close to an LS1! Pretty much in the vid only one bank was firing. All was fixed and thats when we called you! Sounds mean!! Soo close you can feel it!!! Will help Mike with brakes this week!! Looking forward to racing you or your bro!!!!!! JOEY

Seriously, I don't even need a witty topic for this
LS1 Z replied to auxilary's topic in Non Tech Board
HA! HA! Thats funny Alex! On another note. My brother is a cop in S.F., Tenderloin and works graveyards.(bad bad neighborhood). He says it's super common to see porn in "peoples" cars or suv's! Weird and demented! -
JTR! They have them in stock! I believe they are the only ones that will fit.
-
I agree with Dan. Put a mechanical gauge on! They don't lie.

LS1 Z replied to a topic in Non Tech Board
Hey guy's! Not sure if I'm too late for the raffle. I just purchased a bunch of raffle tickets or if not, J give it to Mike's mom!!! You guy's ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JOEY -
Good numbers and ofcourse GOOD JOB David. What kind of exhaust did you put on? What kind of intake? JTR w/ Z06? Funny I have a Mike on this side of the country. Speed is very adictive, especially when you have somebody talking in your ears! Alot of it is getting the most out of your swap. Meaning, where your at now with basically a stock motor. I believe your numbers are good. If you decide to go with a cam. I would do heads at the same time. I pulled 419.3 rwhp and 402 torque, with heads and a cam. I'll do a post in a little bit on my latest numbers after having my exhaust redone! JOEY

Nice!!! Good job! Some details on how you made them.

LS1 Clutch Switch Circuit Malfunction P0704
LS1 Z replied to iflyfast1's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Humm. Good question on the tuning! I'm sure Rick at Synergy can get something out of the motor. How much? and Bang for the buck? Give Rick a call and ask him. Super great to deal with! 510-796-1282. The Mazda is coming along. Dropping the motor in this weekend. I will do a post when I get some motor specs from Mike (mas280). The motor was ripping in his FD! He is a "sick man" and went with a larger motor. I bought a very complete long block for a good price! I don't think there is even 1k on the motor. He was very happy with it and kept on telling me "Your Z feels like it has no torque!" I'm starting to think this "sickness" is addictive!!!! JOEY -
LS1 Clutch Switch Circuit Malfunction P0704
LS1 Z replied to iflyfast1's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
If your racing they will check to see if it's working. Otherwise deliet it with HP tuners or LSI edit or your tuner. Will not effect performance. I know a good tuner in our area. JOEY P.S. Hey Tom nice to see your sig again!! All going well?? -
Wow HOWZDAT! Trashing on Brett's old Z! JK! I might have an axle at the shop. I can't remember if I sold it with all my other Z crap. Or there is ZPARTS.COM Eric has used and new parts. I can get his number on monday and he is located in Richmond. Or if you want to swing by my shop today. I will be working on my LS2-FD. I will have my Z with me. It has the Q45 diff swap in it. JOEY
