  1. You dont have a horizontal harness tube as part of the rollbar. I thought this was required but dont see it in the NASA rules? What's the general consensus here? I was planning to do both what you have back to the rear strut tower bar as well as the harness bar but I would have to use a bent harness bar and after seeing your picture I'm questioning if it's really needed? Cameron
  2. I find the affect of the drip rails the most interesting. Cameron
  3. I think this about answers it. Front of bar is in line with back of seat. I think I'll remove the nubbin and slide the top forward slightly so that I can raise is closer to the roof. Should still be wedged in there still. As you can see, parallel to the window frame would be too close to my head. Cameron
  4. Around here A6 rule hands down. Even for 20 minute time trial (time attack). I'm too cheap to use them as I run used full slicks. Hoosiers slicks and now Avon which are faster than the Hoosiers slicks were. Cameron
  5. Is there enough open area to actually reduce temps? The long strips could mount nicely alongside the power bulge. Cameron
  6. I got the bar back. It's TIGHT. Here is it wedged in the car. I'm debating on where to locate it and looking for feedback. It is literally wedged in the there touching the wheel wheel down low, the side just behind the nubbin right below the front edged of the 1/4 window and touching the roof. You couldn't get a tighter fit with as many contact points. The only trade-off here is it's hitting the roof structure about 3/4" below the skin of the roof. 74_5.0L_Z put his in front of that previously mentioned nubbin which pulls it forward where it's in front of the roof structure and also away from the wheel well. This gets that extra 3/4" height but also compromises contact points and the ability to tie it in all around. Thoughts? Next question has to do with the bends themselves. I've never bent rollbar tubing and the tube bender used was a high $$ hydraulic production type of bender. He also used to build cages often as a living and his personal dragster was top notch. However the bends are perfectly round. You can feel the tube get a little oval in the bends and the transition from bend to straight there is a slight wave to it in a couple places. Is this normal or do I need to find another shop (or cave and buy one) to rebend this thing? You can kind of see it here but it's hard to see. Thanks Cameron
  7. What pads are you using? After upgrading to similar brakes (Outlaw vs Wilwood) I still faded pads but after about three laps instead of one with stock brakes. Balls were there but the pads weren't and I didn't expect that. These were with Hawk HP+ pads so if you dont have a true track pad and are running on a full road course then I would put real track pads on there. Cameron
  8. Not sure. Guess that's kind of a black hole for road courses? I read about a new track in Kentucky. My brother lives in Ohio so I could probably have my arm twisted to go to Mid-Ohio. Also depends on which side of NC your on because the coast is a good drive from here. Cameron
  9. Mark - If your ever in the Midwest it would be fun to run against you. Mine is about the same weight and has a stock '02 LS1 with full slicks etc. so it should in the ballpark with yours with a little less power which I hope to fix over the winter. Mine doesn't look nearly as pretty though. Cameron
  10. Add unassisted and at home then you have it. The unassisted part was not planned so I had to play pitch catcher. Your right about the pain - it's hard to imagine but at least this one went fast. Cameron
  11. I dropped your print off and he said it wasn't a problem. He starts from the middle and bends out to each side using the centerline dimensions and would adjust for the different tube diameter. He was able to order 40' (two 'sticks') of 1 3/4 x 0.095" DOM for $200 delivered to his door and I'm paying his cost. From internet searching this seems to be about as low as I could find without delivery so it's better than I could get by far. I dont have an exact date but expect to hear from him in the next week. It's an old shop full of well used equipment and the owner who is probably 65+ was hanging out with two other gray hears shooting the breeze when I got there. I would swear it's more of a hobby shop that used to be a business and he's more or less retired but he's still got signs out front and is in the phone book. Cameron
  12. Z - what's that? I haven't seen her in weeks .... It's amazing how little you can get done with a newborn. Before the youngest was 5 so it was fairly easy to work on the Z from time to time and actually make it to the track. We'll have to see how next season goes. Closest I've come to working on the Z is taking a print to the rollbar bender guy. Thanks guys. Yeah she's a big girl but I swear it's mostly in the cheeks. It's all good so far but definitely changes things. And one way or another we will not need a larger van in the future! Cameron
  13. ... and the weight? Reason I ask is I'm curious with these relative time slips how your car compares to mine. Cameron
  14. Nice car. Is the LS1 stock or built - any idea of HP? Also what's she weigh? Thanks Cameron
  15. In the midwest they call them Hornets. Most seem to be Saturns, Neons, or some two door fastback that I cant quit place what they are. I dont thing I've ever seen a Honda? There are even pro and amateur divisions and a national points championship series. Some take it pretty serious, others not. I've thought about it as they look fun but there is a LOT of beating and banging going on. Tempers also tend to be high with the dirt roundy round crowd. You can find gently used (there is no such thing) 'race ready' ones for a couple hundred $ if you want to jump right in without a lot of work. Cameron
  16. Last Thursday 10/8 at 5:40 AM she was born at home. I got the play catcher but not on purpose. Stats: 23" and 11 1/2 lb with lots o' black hair. This is the unplanned #5 so the minivan is officially full. It was a long and difficult pregnancy but everyone is doing well so that's all that really madders. I've been laid off this week so am home and have gotten zero things done around the house other than help out. Today we finally decided ... I think ... on Lucy for a name. Cameron
  17. You can probably see from the site name how I stumbled upon this. Cameron
  18. Would anyone have the CAD ability to take 74_5.0L_Z's drawing and convert to 1 3/4 tubing? I'm wondering if the shop can readily recalculate the angles because it would take some time for me to do it and he doesn't even have e-mail so I'm not thinking he will plug into a tube bending program and convert it. I'm heading there on Wednesday to give him the print. Thanks Cameron
