  1. DO a search here for a thread on V8Zcar handling and you will find over 100 posts about the Scarab Vs. JTR type setups and just what everyone's opinion (At the time) was... You will also see an interesting back and fourth between Kim Blough, myself and a few other members... Regardless of the outcome of the thread, that topic had some of the most interesting information to date captured in it. Mike Kelly
  2. HOLLY Cow!!!! And I thought I was nuts... Randy that is crazy fast on the water! Mike
  3. Well what you guys fail to understand is WHY the price is the price. The materials to make one of these isn't that expensive, ONCE you have the mold done. However, the time it takes to MAKE the perfect mold, plus the materials used to get TO a perfect mold are what you are paying for! If they don't get enough interest maybe they would adjust the price. However, As Les and I found out with the G-nose mold, it takes skills and Lots of practice to make something out of Glass... You guys are paying for their skills, and the time they took to make them... Congratulations and welcome to the world of Fabrication! Good Job Ron C! Mike
  4. It KILLS me to give them business... But here goes... I used Motorsport Springs on my 383 stroker conversion. They worked fine, and lowered the car about an inch, which is plenty. I'd look for a decent aftermarket spring from Suspension Techniques or any of the big makers...Eibach still makes them I think! Just keep at about an inch, and make sure the spring rates are in the 160#+ range. Good Luck! Mike
  5. ....If you guys keep policing yourselves so well, Pete, and the rest of us moderators will be out of a job! Good job bringing it back into civility. This is GOOD information, so lets not lose site of THAT! Mike
  6. Guycali, Chris is no longer a member of the board. I now own the car, and we pulled measurements off my other car, a 74Z to approximate the measurements to the 76car... The rails turned out really nice, thus showing the true worth of a nice rottisary! Mike Kelly
  7. Just do HYBRIDZ a favor and don't go "Representing" our views and opinions in any letters to such a group. One thing I absolutely DIDn'T like about the MSA show was seeing all the "In Work" cars there. They took up space that could have been used by true Show Cars. One or two cutting edge cars in "Build" state is cool, but having one out of four cars with rusted (*Insert your favorite cacnerous part here) is a real let down for those of us who travel so far... If it isn't Show Quality, then it shouldn't BE in a show. Mike Kelly Adminstrator
  8. Super Dave, YOU WANT A JOB??? Well written and spot on on EVERY Comment. I personally didn't see anything wrong in the original post over on Zchat. The guy didn't get the info he asked for because no one here could help him. It happens all the time. I personally didn't think he was bad mouthing HybridZ, and the responses that followed certainly did NO good to promote this site, and as stated by SuperDave, were VERY immature. Lets move past this... My daddy can beat up your daddy has no place with regards to anything associated with HybridZ. Mike
  9. Actually I read in Sport COmpact that they use those bars to assist/ load the front wheels...Basically acting as a lever... There was a race civic in Orlando that ripped off 12s on motor alone... No power adders... The car was FAST! Mike
  10. Just got back from St. Augustine and I can tell you guys that this car was the ultimate sleeper... So quiet You could barely tell it was running... Scottie that is AMAZING! Huge improvement! Good meeting you and your wife, and then hooking up with Jeff at the track! Mike
  11. I got a Frankenbike yesterday, and transfered the other bike to my Buddy Barry's house. Hopefully he won't read this since he doesn't troll this board much and he is in North Carolina this week! His wife bought him a track bike for a gift, and had me find it for him... Anyway, the bike I wound up with is a 94FZR600 modified with a Kawasaki ZX7 swingarm, shock, rear brakes, and wheel. This makes the bike handle MUCH better since it has a MUCH wider rear tire. It also came with YZF600 R6 front brakes, and the bike was safety wired... and came with extras. So for $1500 I just got into a track specific motorcycle for track events... I'm already signed up for an event the Day after the ZF Racing Sponsored HybridZ East Coast Bash. I'll be at Summit Point the next morning EARLY for a full day session! And I'll attend another one in October, and I'm gonna try to get down to VIR by November! Fun Fun Fun! Mike
  12. I swapped all of my suspension out of the white Z and into the shell I'm starting on after the garage is done. I put all that suspension on the white Z in preparation for it's transfer to Les at some point soon. The one thing of note is that (And I wish I had taken my camera to my brother inloaws where I'm storing the car) I have a set of painted 17X8 5 luf Mustang wheels on the car (Factory for 2001) with 245-40-17 and those wheels on that primer coated body LOOKED really sweet. If I could just get center caps that DIDN't have the pony on them, might be an option. Fitment in the wheel well might be doable to without flares, since I'm running a 5/8inch spacer on the back and won't need it! Wish I had taken pics... Now all I need to do is get my brake booster out of the white car, and swap doors, bolt on a hood, bolt on a rear hatch, and fill it with interior parts and extras for Les. Mike
  13. Doing the five lug conversion also increases track a bit. I think it is between 1/8 and 1/4 inche per side... That coupled with adjustable control arms would assist you... Mike
  14. Yup...20/15 is better than 20/20...My best friend has 20/12 and is all natural... Just born with great vision, and he is 38 and still has great vision... Bastard! Mike
  15. OK, so I put on the BBK Regulator and now the thing won't regulate below 40PSI measured at the rail... Why is this??? Anyone else experience this one??? Mike
  16. ...Well I had my five day follow up this afternoon and I have 20/15 vision in both eyes... One thing I was warned was NOT to go to some "Special $999 PER EYE this WEEK only" Dr. The money is spent on the prep work for the Dr.s to map your eyes and make sure they are thick enough to withstand the surgery. You need to do your homework when considering this type of procedure, as with the case SpeedRacer mentioned... This is a SERIOUS procedure and is SURGERY... I got the best Dr. money could buy, and I wouldn't have had it done if I hadn't known going in that this guy was on the list of top 10 in the country. 20/15 guys...That is amazing! Mike
  17. I think Lone pretty much summed up the general consesus here... Everyone has an opinion and how it is expressed is the issue. As I pointed out to someone else earlier today guys, we're all here because we want to be. This site is a free service... Those who take their time to run it and keep it orderly have the rights to call the shots... They don't have to make sense to you, as long as you keep in mind that it isn't free speach. Would I personally spend $1500 on 250HP? Heck no. Would I tell another member that "I CAN'T believe he recommended that someone else do it???" NO. If you can't see the difference, then there in lies the problem. As Lone said, those types of comments are better left for the list of other sites quoted to me by the member who made the above remarks. It won't fly here, Period. It is not an option. Sorry for...Actually, no I'm not sorry for the hard stance. It is what it is, and it is what has been the corner stone, the very foundation of this site. enough said... Mike Kelly
  18. The store is no longer... You can e-mail most of the venders here... Basically Mike/Scca Craig Borden and myself are selling stuff... Ross Courigan also sells items, but he wasn't in the store at the time... Mike Kelly
  19. For those vision impared folks out there I've recntly had Lasik surgery performed on my eyes. I don't have the card in front of me, but I was near sited, had an astigmatism, and needed glasses to drive at night. I just had the operation performed on Friday afternoon at 2PM. The total procedure took 20 minutes and I was done. The next day (16 hours later) I went back in at 10:30AM and the Dr. examined my eyes and I was at 20/20 in the left eye and 25/20 in the right. I go back in today to be checked again (For any signs of swelling or infection...Funky drops I've had to put in...) and they will check to see how much more my vision has improved. I can't recommend it enough... I'm so happy to be without the glasses (Which I just refused to wear unless absolutely needed) and I can't believe how much better I can see! Mike
  20. Yup, my pistons were supposed to be a higher end casting and I ended up with CLAIMER pistons... I paid a large amount for the roller valve train, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, four bolt block, decent crank and a few other bits and pieces that I ended up being able to use. Bottom line is you get what you pay for, but I suspect there are a few good crate builders out there, but you better get it in writing before you sign on the line and spend your money... I had $3600 total in the package and they DID screen the block and paint it as asked, and they did use ARP bolts, just not THE RIGHT ARP bolts... Remember, ARP makes CRAP stuff, and they make good stuff... Now I have an additional $800 in forged rods and pistons/ rings, and I'll probably have an additional $400-600 in the rest of balancing and then more parts to get it back together... Mike
  21. Well I've seen guys build cheap motors and have them last forever because they aren't romping on them, even though to them, they are. I've also seen expensive 383 strokers pull less than 350HP on the dyno, but be built to last forever... It boils down to what the individual wants... I spent $3600 on a crate motor that lasted 3000 miles. But it made good power until I screwed with the carb. As for the "Being Frigging Crazy" part, lets remember that not everyone here can turn a wrench, and paying $1500 for 250-300 RELIABLE horsepower is MORE than reasonable to someone who isn't THAT savy with a torque wrench and a place to build a motor... It's all relative guys... Lets keep in focus here... Mike Kelly Admini strator
  22. I don't think I've ever mentioned this, but Donna was the one who encouraged me to start ZF Racing after my partner and I split BEFORE the company was started... I was ready to say Screw it and just bag the whole idea of making control arms, but she encouraged me... So those of you who haven't been happy with the product have her to blame... Mike
  23. I bolted on the BBK regulator on Saturday bumped the timing up to 16 degrees.. Interesting thing of note... I couldn't get the presure below 40PSI with that regulator... It isn't pinging, and it seemed to like the added timing and fuel, but I still would like to have had more adjustment in the regulator. Might order an Aeromotive unit and send the BBK unit back... Any experience with FP regulators??? For what it's worth, the car is noticably faster with more throttle response... And yes, I did check the presure with an external rail presure gage with the vacuum line off... Thought that might have been a question you guys would ask... I'm learning about these ford things... Mike
  24. ...Looks like I'm gonna own atleast one full on race bike, if not two... I made a deal with one guy in North Carolina who is delivering a 1994 FZR600 to me on Saturday, only to find a second 1994 FZR600 cheaper in Virginia for less money that will be delivered on Thursday... I'll have $2500 in both bikes and a BUNCH of spares... I'm running out of room in the old garage... Fortunately my buddy Barry's wife wants to buy him a track bike and she is gonna take one of them off my hands... Decisions... decisions... Thank god Donna loves me and doesn't flip out when I spend money! Mike
  25. Perfectly good waste of a 600Radian... That guy is an Oxygen thief... Brain donor... Mike
