awesome awesome vids. Thanks!!

I can't wait. thank you!

Wow Evil_datto thats awesome! Would you be willing to send me your files? I hadn't even considered Arduino but it sounds like exactly what I am looking for. I have worked with VB in the past (6.0 lol) and would really benefit a lot from reading through your code. Let me know man. Thanks for posting!

What did you use for an RPM converter? Im interested in concocting a homebrew datalogging setup but need to convert the standard Tach signal into something I can output to a serial port.
-
Im posting to see if there is anyone who has set this up successfully on a carbureted L24. Im trying to figure out how to log AFR/Lambda with RPMs. Nothing else is really necessary for my application. I have found all kinds of information on recording AFR, and recording RPM from EFI/ECU setups but I have to figure a way to record the Pulse/Tach signal and output and output to a serial data connector. I have seen some stuff from Innovate that will do it but i wanted to try and get a more affordable solution. Do you guys have any suggestions? If you did set it up: What modifications were needed? What products were used? Are there any good resources that I have overlooked? Thank you!

Just pulled the tach last night and tore it apart. If the Gauge face was flexed to the right it wont spin, if to the left a certain degree it spins free. Just stuck a washer under the gauge face on one side and put the screw through it. Worked like a charm! thanks again everyone for all the help.

That's music to my ears! I started to pull the dash yesterday to try and pull the clock and replace with a Wideband but it proved to be a lot of work just before the move (buying a new place). Great to hear that I can get the gauge out without yanking the whole mess out. You are the man Zman. PS. I did try stuffing my fat self under there to try and see how to get the thing out but failed miserably. One of those things you really hope nobody saw. heh heh

ZManco, You were correct. My Tach needle was just resting on the face of my gauge. Do I really have to pull the whole dash out to replace the gauge? Big thanks Zman! I thought sure it was a wiring issue.

cygnusx1 I owe you one. Email me your address and favorite brand and I will mail you a beer. http://dirtys30.blogspot.com/2010/06/thank-you-cygnusx1.html

ZMan This diagram is lightyears better than the one in the Scanned FSM I have. Thank you very much for posting! cygnus, I had no idea that that was possible. I will run through every fuse there is. Thanks guys!

Zmanco, which wiring diagram have you seen that shows that? I was looking at the scanned FSM on XenonS30.com and did not see that anywhere. I really appreciate your help though. Galloguy, that makes perfect sense. the Right Headlight is dim and it looks like it is wired into the same harness as the tach. I will check that harness for a loose connection. If that turns out to be the fix I'll mail you a beer.

Woops! My fault. I park a 1973 Datto-san 240z. I forgot that the EFI cars are probably going to be different. I just re tipped the Fuel Tank Sending unit connections also. Those seem to be working much better. And my front right headlight is very dim and I have yet to figure out why. I'm going to hit it with a multimeter tonight or tomorrow to find the cause of that. Not sure if any of those things could be related but i thought I would toss them out. I really just need to know where the hell this tachometer gets its signal from. After looking through the wiring diagram front to back I can't find the sensor anywhere.

Hey guys, I know there have been a couple of threads about this but I didn't find any that were helpful. My Tach is acting sleepy. Basically I mean that When I rev it up to about 2k it does nothing at first and then will eventually rise up really slowly. Then after I let the car idle, the needle stays there around 2k. this is not RPM specific as the same thing will happen at 1.5k or 3k if I'm driving around. So I downloaded the FSM from XenonS30 (Thank you), and I have been looking through the wiring diagrams and I cant for the life of me find where the Tach gets its signal from! I know for a fact that the Tach itself is good. Please bail me out of my ignorance!

Bought Me A MaxJax Car Lift
xonix_digital replied to RB26powered74zcar's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Cant wait to see how these install! I had my eye on the same set. I think most of these kits have Garage floor thickness regulations so I am going to have to investigate to see if I can get them. Post up when you get it installed. -
Pete is correct in saying that it looks better in person! I just got back from a Z meet in Norwood, MA and I got to inspect this car first hand. I have to say I LOVE the graphite handles and bumpers. No-one but Pete can tell that they don't quite match the wheels. Also, the RB25 motor looks AMAZING in the engine bay of that car. Makes me second guess the route I am planning to go. Really great build Pete. You will be seeing emails from me with questions! - Alex

I think this is awesome! Cars look great for the few seconds they gave them. Should have had them tearing off down the runway at the end!! Props man for making the vid!! I thought the track was dope haha. -
Where to put LC-1 Wideband Sensor?
xonix_digital replied to damianofhouston's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
Unfortunately I do not have the answer to your question but am interested if there is a most accurate position for the sensor. But I have to wonder why you chose the LC-1. Are you going to be data logging Fuel map over RPM? How are you pulling RPM? Thanks, -
Anyone know where to get replacement hard Brake lines?

Nice! Good link on the Fuel line too! That's next. Much appreciated guys! -
Anyone know where to get replacement hard Brake lines?
xonix_digital replied to xonix_digital's topic in Non Tech Board
Thanks guys. It is difficult to get results for this by a straight up search because everyone has the SS braided brake lines coming up instead. It didn't even occur to me that you might be able to get flared and fitted lengths from Black Dragon or an auto parts store. Its the Bending that makes them unique. Great info. Much appreciated! -
I have found one person on ebay selling a whole kit, which would be great, but I dont have the $$ for all of them and there are just a few that I need. I am hoping to be able to buy a select few hardlines pre-bent. I wouldn't mind making them but the tools and supplies are expensive and would rather have them professionally done until i have the space/time to overhaul them all. Anyone know? My searches are coming up empty. Thanks!

I always haggle a little. You should expect it. If I had tons of money I wouldn't be buying peoples refuse on Craigslist. But I am broke, so I do. Sure its lame that people offer with no intention of buying. But there's nothing we can do about that.

Anyone have a cheap used wideband gauge kicking around that they would let go of cheap? I have a sensor that is made for an AEM setup but the gauge went with the last car I sold (stupid). I think it would go nicely with a gauge that somebody has that may be missing a sensor. Let me know what you got cause Im broke! Thanks.

Awesome pics!!!! I was wishing I could have gone to this so I am very excited to see these. Thanks! And nice Z!

Yeah I've sleuthed through those and found good info, but they rarely say whether or not their suspension needed to be modified or the offset they are running etc etc. The Wheel show off was definitely the most helpful even though I wish everyone posted their exact configurations. These two resources along with being able to measure my current setup is what I think I will have to use. Offset and Wheel width Clearance Calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp Tire change Calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html I guess I was hoping for a writeup on wheel fitment for a factory spec 240z. Something that includes brake caliper fitment and tire width/height, suspension etc. Maybe I'll have to write one myself if it doesn't exist.
