  1. Syndicate These are some "in the ball park specs" * NOT KNOWING YOUR SETUP, HOW YOU USE THE CAR THIS IS JUST A RECOMENDATION * * You really need to go thru and inventory what is installed now * Chokes - 30,32 mm Emulsion tubes - F-11 Main jets - 125,130 Air corrector jets - 160,170 Accelerator jets, idle jets you need to see whats installed! Webers are not hard to set up IF you understand how everything works together! I would recomend you find someone in your area who knows the carbs AND get yourself a weber book or 2, read it, understand it! I have 1 book from BTR Engineering Limited(they are in Austalia)(try a search on the web, I`ve had this book 4 about 12 years) that I think is the best! It`s title is, Weber-Guide to parts and tuning You can do some damage if you don`t get thing close and then it`s a matter of some fine tuning!
  2. After a few months of some mods to the car (installing new head(N-42)and cam) and other minor teaks, it was time for a little ride! It was a very nice day, about 55 and sunny! Off to the interstate I go, maybe to find some one to play with! Wasn`t long I found a Honda Civic R (rice)(imagine that), he came up to me and well what the heck, we (or I) went! Wasn`t long but it was fun! Late model Vette, OK! There wasn`t any traffic so we played a little! It was only up to about 100 and he backed off, so I slowed and we went again! Just some fun, no race! On the way home did a little corner carving on the on/off ramps, heart pumping fun! Anyway, back to the head line. My Z has a L28 block, triple webers an to here these carbs sucking air, watching the tach climb, It just makes it all OK! WHAT A RUSH!!! It`s a sound everybody should hear! So, back in the garage for now, have some other mods to do to get ready for some track action next year. Just had to vent!
  3. Here is a helpful link! http://www.amsoil.com/products/tgr.html This lube works great! NOTE the 75W-90 "pour point" temp rating in chart! I bought my Z in 81, first thing changed all fluids over to AMSOIL! The trany in car is original with 163,000 miles and has never had any work done to it! I use this car for HPDE`s and the trany shifts better and smoother than some new tranys! I`ve been a Amsoil dealer since 82 and use products in everything I own all the way down to my mower!
  4. Some Additional Info http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/amsoil_vs_mobil1.htm
  5. Has there been any word / thought on where this list is going to be located on this site and how to gain access to it? Don`t know all who are involved with this topic, but THANKS to all!
  6. Mark, Sounds like a good time to get the jack stands out and do a all over ck and tighten! Good thing that the drive to work was short!
  7. Just for reference... The rear drum on the Z measures just under 11.5"(outside fin to fin) I think the rotors for the 240SX mod is pretty close to that???
  8. SWEET, looks like a project for Terry O!!!
  9. Welcome Poco GT 2, If you are talking about rear outers, yes (IMO) you will need a press (for the pin)! Fronts, burn them out!
  10. Hey Miles, Just a thought, you might want to look at mounting your pro valve inside the car where you can get to it to ajust it! Depending on what brake set up you have, changing wheather, race and driving conditions it may be nessary to ajust the brake bias! I have a couple different setting I use depending on the above mentioned!
  11. I`ve got a (85)Z31 factory turbo hood scoop. The opening faces forward. Don`t know if this was anything you were thinking about? I use it on my early Z to get air to carbs(triple webers), I thought it looked good. It was functional! I got a deal on a vented 280 hood and went with it!
  12. What year 240SX rear calipers are used in changing over an early Z to rear disc? What is the size of the pad area?
  13. Thanks Very much Terry! I hope you read my previous posts(Ithink about 3 back)
  14. Terry, I want to be clear here??? You are talking about the REAR maxi bolt on mounts / not some frt maxi bolt on mounts???
  15. What about the maxi caliper that goes with the frt maxi rotors? Any details on these?
  16. Thanks, I will be going with a LARGER frt set up, I already have brake pro valve installed with my set up now! So I will probly try it, if it doesn`t work well with something bigger up frt, I`ll do something different! And Terry I must say, your web site, the work you have done to your car...WOW!!!
  17. OK, I anwsered some ?s from your site! Do you have a part # or what car the frt caliper mounting bracket came from?
  18. Thanks Terry, That`s what I wanted to see! Are those frt maxi rotors? If not, what? What about mounting brackets? Has this rear set up worked well for you?
  19. Does anybody out there make any brackets to mount 280ZX frt calipers on the rear of an early Z? Also will the Maxi frt rotors work with these calipers in the rear? If so, pics and info please! P.S. No E-brake OK!
  20. Mine is "street legal" / borderline, with things being gear towards track use (road courses) I think everybody has fun going fast in a straight line, but theres something about going fast thru leftys & rightys, braking, setting up for the next turn or even better the next car you can see ahead of you and going after it (and hopefuly over taking it)! Then going around again and doing it all over!
  21. Thanks for the link Jumbo240z I have searched alot, but have not come acrossed that one! There has been some amount of conflicting info in some articles, I just need to do some testing on the frt 1.5 feet of hood to see what happens up there!
  22. In terms of getting the word out to members about this list, is there any way to bring attention to or about the list when a member logs in? ??? aditional info at log in ???
  23. I think you would be better off to just replace them with some new(better)inserts! Unless you are going for a total "keep it original" package! Just 1 mans opinion!!!
  24. This is a great idea!!! I`m on the list! The ? about "SPAM" and persons "just droping in" does need to be addressed! Maybe a info box as to who`s got beer!!!
