  1. was thinking more of a thinkpad 600e instead of a glove compartment
  2. I don't understand the short rod beeing slower @ bdc? and my eyes are bugging out, too much reading
  3. here's a nice stie to read http://www.geocities.com/inlinestroker/
  4. It would have to idle rougher than hell to get 330hp.
  5. search for jeffp. also on zcar.com
  6. And pictures. Then we can give you a good idea if you should run.
  7. The markets out there. Check this one out, I think you made the right choice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2486578721&category=6187
  8. You should be very clear about what the system is to sound like to you. I would make a very clear sounding system that would prob'ly be laughed out of most comps. as underpowered and little bass.
  9. Who can even think about questioning the judgement of TonyD.
  10. I guess what kind of power do you want?
  11. Make the car as quite as possible. And decide how loud it will be played. After my mazda, I won't put more than a 100W a channel amp in a car, it's too loud. For a sub I would stay with the best 8" you can afford w/ a high quality, maybe custom box. Most boxes you will find are to small for the speaker. This plays a very imporant part in the subs performance ( like viper motor with a 2" exhaust) and can kill and muddy up a good low end. It's refreshing to read a thread about car audio that has real advice on quality, not yeah just put 4 12" subs in the back.
  12. Try here, I bet they could help http://www.ultimatesubaru.net/forum/index.php?
  13. What is the reason for the belly pans? Stability and downforce, or, reduced drag? They are oppisite of each other, the bonneville car wants zero downforce. Different desgins are needed for the two purposes.
  14. my parents 86 held up very well. well rust, and towing a 2000lb boat took it's toll. Still it did that for about three years before coughing up the tranny. Was quick at wot w/ 60k on it.
  15. I know I got several answers when i asked a little while ago on the brakes. Jamie T had a thread on cobra brakes for the S30's, don't know about the possibles of that. Afshin, what width rim to fit the 225-245 on your car
  16. It takes power to change an items velocity, thank you mister newton. Moving masses that would change hp readings would be any that has to change direction and, or speed of movement, ie. pistons. At a constant rpm the flywheel would have no change in velocity, therefore taking no hp. The pistons change velocity( up and down), so lightening them would free up hp.
  17. Just finished reading a post on wiggling the ecu connectors. Loose efi connector and unlucky putting the car on the dyno?
  18. As i'm reading more... What's the stock rod lenght for the rb26?
  19. if you put a P90 on an N/A, would you, should you change out the cam?
  20. bump... It also Kinda ties in with my other post I guess. Any new news ?
  21. Yes, I guess I knew that, but I was thinking more of power potential. After new pistons, rods, ect. the L28 just doesn't seem to come close to the RB26. It seemed to me, that there must be a very important desgin change to allow that. 700hp sounds about the limit for the L28 and the RB26's limit is over 1200hp, thats a huge 500hp difference.
  22. It just seemed unlikely that you could get about double the hp by having a different head desgin. I've heard that the l28 heads aren't that great but wow. And it does sound like the bolt & cylinder holes line up on the two engines. (still reading the archives )
  23. Ok, so the rb26det has much more power potental than the l28et, but why? You can upgrade the internals of the l28et to handle the power. Is there a magical rod-stroke-bore combo we just can't achive with the l28? Or do the haeds just suck that bad? Still tring to learn more about these things. Thanks
  24. cutting a spring does not increase its spring rate ( making it stiffer). it only makes it shorter and have less travel.
