    Life?

An on site computer-repair business would be a nice thing to try if you can fit it in, while going to school. Around here the on-site rate is $70-130+. It will keep you until you find what you like. Retail computer repair sucks, I know that's what I do know. BTW, if anyone know good corp. IT postions open I'm looking
  2. do you have a picture of the broken edge?
  3. Well, it's suppose to be a Kaminari body kit. not sure subtle applies to that and I'll take the wheels.
  4. I hadn't seen this one yet. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=840806
  5. I thought I read that they had almost a years supply of those already built. I'ld have to check again, maybe some good clearence sales about to happen.
  6. I don't remeber the years, but some of that body style had weaker motor mounts. They break dropping the engine on the rack. Happened to my brothers friend.
  7. The auto air has a slider w/ temp markings on it, i.e. 60 deg. 70 deg.
  8. The alt. makes AC power that is converted to DC. no problems there.
  9. the "black face" on my dead one is 4.75" across. any certian dim. you want?
  10. Ditto, how do you keep coming across these cars? I've heard that the sbc/ls swap is a very good combo. But that's alot of third hand info.
  11. If you're more into the "hands-on" stuff, hijack-this seems to be nice, more for detection of stuff that has happened to your computer. The Casltecops fourm seems to know their stuff and recommend Ediows (sp?) alot. I've not tried it very much so I don't have an opinion. Firefox is becoming more popular and as such, comming into the crosshairs of the people writing these. Just because you don't see pop-ups doesn't mean the stuff isn't on your machine. I've had machines so stuffed that only after running spy-bot, ad aware, and MS, that I started to get pop-ups!
  12. About 1/2 my work is cleaning that stuff. Not one of the programs gets it all.
  13. I don't know the specifics, but do a search on the Sunbeam Tiger. I'm told one of my uncles had one. Looks like an alpine but had the v8.
  14. From my understanding you are right on the pistons. But your head has much smaller chambers than the P90's. That makes for your compresion to be higher than the zxt engines.
  15. I would like to clarify that the heat is not doing the work of spinnig the turbo. It's the pressure difference. With tempature and pressure directly linked, it makes for an indicator?. I think that's a good word, but the pressure change, at least for a system like an automoblie, must be accompined by a tempature drop. Well, my understanding.
  16. My main DMM is a fluke rip-off from radio shack. The one that's in the car is that $5 harbor freight jobby.
  17. After combustion there is more gas than before. The gasoline breaks into many smaller molecules. For typical gasoline -ideally (2) C8H18 + (25) O2 = (16) CO2 + (18) H2O PV=nRT n= the # of moles of gas. The top formula shows 27 moles of gas combust into 34 moles of exhuast. So even at equal temps before and after, there is a greater PV. The higher exhuast temp just makes the PV side even greater. ( my web skills suck, btw.)
  18. You don't NEED pci-express but, AGP is dead. No new chips use it, it's only going to be harder and harder to get good AGP cards in the future. PCI-Express cards are already faster and cheaper than AGP. And yes, the cards cannot currently use even 8x pci-express to it's fullest. If you're doing the work yourself, and have stuff like windows already, i prefer building to buying pre-made. It's slightly cheaper and comes out just how I want it. spare hardrives? I use spare computers for back up
  19. early athlons did not have good enough thermal controls to prevent this type of overheating. Modern stuff does. If you upgrade cpu you prob'ly want new mb and ram. After that because you game, it would be silly to limit your video cards to a dead AGP standard. You want PCI-express for fast cheap VC,s. I'd look for a replacment cpu, most likley the MB is good, but I have seen them die in this situation as well. New MB/Ram/CPU/VC is spendy, luckly you have two HDs. that makes saving data easy. When you get the parts sorted out, try running it and see if windows will find the new hardware and run. It's worth a shot. If not, boot to the cd, enter the recovery console (2k,XP) and copy the wanted data to the second hd. You can try a recovery install ( installing on top of, w/o erasing) of windows also. Good luck
  20. With all this talk about cams wearing out and the new blanks not holding up. Does anybody know about heat treating/ hardening the new cams?
  21. my dad like his TA. had it about 6 months in the basement shop, so it's not getting heavy running. But so far so good.
  22. I think this was the thread stating the long rod engine had better detonation resistance. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=94959
  23. features for the price($2K abouts), thermal arc is about unbeatable. I helped my dad look though the specs. Now I don't weld, but he liked it the same as the millers, control panel looks fidely, no real basis for durability, is more portable.
