  1. I was thinkin the same thing! especially when they were going down the stairs on 2 wheels. Heres another one that shares some of the same scenes, but is a lot longer. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-152534067332271854
  2. I was looking at that g-force reverse rotation tranny for a project of mine, because i liked the stupid power those engines made. And then i found out the price of the tranny, $5500 ! Cool concept though. The more i look at that integra swap, the more i think it's fake. But who knows..
  3. srgunz-I visit that site on a regular basis, it's an awesome reference. For a while there was guy named Rick Gibson who had a single turbo 13b motor making in excess of 420 horsepower and 380tq, but his site seems to have disappeared. Have you seen it? Tannji - I'm trying to retain the driveability of the spit, so yes, i can imagine the perils of welded doors. I plan on keeping this car for a while, and giving it a serious beating, so it makes sense for me to go over the top, rather than under it and be fixing stuff all the time. I talked to a couple guys about the 2.3 ford, but i have such a network of 240sx friends, that parts are relatively easy for me to get, and tech support is abundant. As far as the front suspension goes, i planned on a custom brake kit, and tubular adjustable control arms with a set of coilovers. edit: found ric gibson's website, talk about humbling! Cool pics: video: http://www.ricgibson.com/Spitfire/Donuts.wmv The chassis:

  5. Davyz - I've got plans for a narrowed and lightened Jag irs going in there. I dont think the stock rear end is good for much over 120 or 130 hp (granted, there are exceptions). Besides, who want's that unpredictable transverse leaf spring in there anyway? However, i'll be keeping the rear end stock while i break in the motor. Edit: and yes, they do have a tin-like essence to them. Feeling like your car is going to fall apart when you punch it adds to the thrill and seat of your pants feeling!
  6. Hey guys, i need an opinion. My 1968 triumph spitfire is going to be back from the shop early next week. It's having a custom chromoly roll cage installed, as well as mounts for a ka24de (or sr20de). I have a built ka24de (turbo) engine, expected to put out 350-375 horsepower at the wheels, torque being close to the same. The stock spitfire weighs 1760 lbs, and when all is said and done, i'm going to be about 100 pounds over that. Do you guys think that 350 rwhp is too much in a >1860lb car? Maybe not too much power, but usable power? I would like to do some autocrossing, but more than anything, have fun with it. Any opinions would be great. -Cam rustrocket Here's a couple reference pics that i posted a while back:
  7. If so, then you MUST watch this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtwwNKqRyxc&NR If you havent seen them, check out this one FIRST so you know what i'm talking about.
  8. The adult entertainment industry needs to get in on this...
  9. I've already got a 68 triumph spitfire with a ka24de turbo going in there. I think the hydraulic suspension you're talking about looks like this : They're called lever shocks, very interesting! And yes, it has them. And also, i love the BGT!
  10. Like the title says. Was it a good car? Any major issues? Parts/performance upgrade availability?
  11. 510 all the way, but it's gotta be 4 door.
  12. I like my women like my coffee....ground up and in the freezer. tasteless, i know...i couldnt resist. edit: i would've had something better to say about the world cup, but at of right now, i'm sick of it, because all the guys at the gym were sitting on every piece of equipment not doing anything except staring at the damn tv.
  13. I know there is a pikes peak event for semi trucks... Actually, here's an ad for shell oil that shows a couple of the trucks in the hill climb, SWEET http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swK1y3uvibY
  14. It takes a real man to drift a funny looking semi truck...
  15. I picked up my holset hx35 from a 1999 dodge 2500. I also have a rebuilt H1c that's waiting to go on my volvo 740 wagon.
  16. An exerienced driver once told me that "there's a big difference between driving fast and driving stupid." This video is nothing but the latter.
  17. That Fiat belongs to Gary Paulsen, a close friend of mine. I believe it has been sold already, but may still be for sale. The engine is a tight fit, the distributor sits right underneath the dashboard, and is a pain in the *** to work on. The jeep cj chassis was shortened, by about a foot if i recall correctly. Foot room is rather limited, but the car has plenty of get up and go. It also has a cool pistol grip shifter. I've ridden in this car several times, and also took some pictures of it last year when he towed his GT2 club datsun to the Duel at Deanza. He also has a mazda b2600 truck, with a z28 camaro motor in it, and a toyota dually rear end. It also has fender flares from a mid 90s stepside chevy truck molded in the rear. and a pic of his Z :
  18. this was posted a few weeks ago in the "other engines" forum by grumypvette. Upon seeing this link, i e-mailed the owner of the car. My e-mail included some flattery, and asking if i could come check out his ride. This was his reply (cut and pasted directly from my e-mail) "My level of engineering exceeds most people. That said, get off your *** and do something about it. I’m far away from you and generally don’t like meeting people. RP" He's not only insane (being insane is a requirement to dump a quarter million dollars into a volkswagen beetle), but a complete TOOL as well. Here's a video for those interested: video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xo5G...h=jet%20beetle

  20. Perhaps he was going to use infrared heat lamps to do it? There are also other methods that i'm looking at, such as flame spraying. see the Pg-550 http://www.alamosupplycompany.com/pg550.htm . It allows powdercoating without the use of ovens.
  21. 3 years ago i was driving my friend's 240sx, with him in the passenger seat and his girlfriend and 2 of her friends in the back. His car was bone stock with the exception of a fartpipe. As i was driving down a empty backroad, a cop pulled me over because "my muffler caught his attention". After 3 hours of sitting on a curb, i was arrested for use of controlled substances (after 3 court appearances, and my police report never being filed and drug test never coming back, the charges were dropped), and my friend was arrested for the same thing, and later charged for statutory rape. However, as i was in the back of the cruiser on the way to the station, i asked the cop if i would've got pulled over if i had an straight pipe with no muffler. He said "no". Profiling is rampant, and for lots of people, is nothing but a major inconvenience.
