Thanks for that, good ideas indeed.

I have Motorsports Fiberglass II body kit, and well though it fits close. Its really not close enough and i would like to fill the spaces in. Some shops told me they either wouldnt do it, or couldnt, as it would crack under stress no matter what I did. Now I have seen several cars with this done, why cant I or they do the same to make it a seamless look. Is there something that Im not seeing in what they are trying to tell me?
-
They will fit, what Im not sure of is if they will work the the half shafts, as the others have said. I know for fact that 240sx users that have gone turbo use the 87 LSD in there case. So I dont see why it wouldnt fit. Its just what axles will you need. I dont know if the CV's for teh 240sx are the same as the 280zx 300zx.

Im the same way, you get the feeling when you see someone flying up behind you and your thinking are they going ot stop, and you start inching forward. UGH sorry to see that, hope you make out.

Maybe you could ask them where they got the pic from, they would surely not just use anyones pic or a random from the net? I know I would like to own that Z, engine bay looks exceptional.

brake problem on 280 opinions please
EZ-E replied to innerware's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Sounds like you could have air still in your lines, you might also want to make sure that your booster is in good shape as well. Check for leaks. Also remember when bleeding start furthest from the MC and move up, ie RR, LR, RF and finally LF. Good luck -
What have you eliminated yourself as possible problems? Have you gone through the simple checks first, ie, vacumn leaks, leaks in the boot from the afm to the turbo, pcv bad, tested injectors, looked for bad grounds and or connections, cleaned those grounds, checked fuel pressure. Have you done any component checks to the afm, o2 sensor. What have you eliminated? I went through a hell of a problem and did a lot of testing from the FSM, maybe you could go through your system yourself, most tests can be done with a multimeter.

My god those wheels look fantastic. hehe I really like them, put me on your list for potential buyers of your car when done, hmmm if I could sell my ZX now (evil grin) Id love to have that Z. Even without the wheels, always wanted to have a 7mgte in a Z, figured it for great things.

Yes I see some of you get the same attitude, I mean to me my car is not really fast by no means whatsoever. I do know what I can beat though and cant, just makes me really mad to be made to feel inferior, I like the new Mustang myself and think they finally did a good job with the car. Its just the mentality they have that really gets to me, hell I raced a Corvette at the track, being .7 seconds faster then me, still only new to the owner and bone stock, god I couldnt believe how that car could fly, especially off the line. Even the newer Camaros are pretty nice in stock config. The Vette doing 12.9 consistent through the night, and the Camaro at 13-13.1. Those are great numbers. Only one fast mustang out that night was a supercharged Stang, at 12.8. There was a 1998 Cobra, but it wasnt doing any better then I was. Most Ive seen and these were the 2002 up only in the high 13's with exhaust and something else one guy told me, he was pretty cool. Most I find arent like that, others though, think the roar of that V8 makes there car fast, hmm I dont know this was just a rant I had to get out, I like all cars and give where its given, just hate to be made a fool of because of the car I love. Hell Ive watched a 5000 lb lightning do 11.36 @ 124 now thats one fast ford and its there truck. That is simply amazing vehicle. Anyway im off my soap box.

I have to agree that car and motor both look fantastic. Lets hope there are no problems with it at all, and your up and running without a glitch, though that might scare me more lol
-
That he was talking about, he kept saying new, new, new and so on. Like you Mike, I know it can be made to go fast, of that there is no doubt. The thing is that they BOTH make me feel, one being 63 and the other 34, is that my car is a POS. I know its not, and I cant wait to shove his mustangs in his face.

Its a bosch unit, that is pretty good I use it myself, its available from summit racing for erm 50 dollars if I remember well. Its a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Well I have seen the concept car for 05 which was the Mustang GT-R. With 440 bhp and 400ft lbs of torque thats a pretty impressive car, but I think Im with you, they find it hard to believe anything that doesnt have 8 cylinders and well is 21 years its juinor can beat it. Just makes me laugh at theyre close mindedness Link to the GT-R concept. http://www.conceptcarz.com/view/vehicle.aspx?carID=7926

Looks like the 240 Turbo needs a little love though, but what a great collection of cars. All beautiful.

I was talking a little bit of smack today to my father-in-law about having a little fun and embarrasing a 2003 Mustang today. Well his boy was with him, and started saying there is no way that I could beat a new 2005 Mustang Cobra much less a GT. I laughed and told him I beat the regularly at the track, and they dont mean much to me, well he chimes in with "I highly doubt it", the father-in-law, was like well they must have been a bad driver. I went with well all Mustang drivers must be bad then. Then the son, mind you who works for Ford says, and I qoute, "the new cobra runs like 9.8 in the 1/4", I just said oooook, I seriously doubt that from 2003, numbers I know for the Cobra, which was 12.9 in the 1/4, to 3 seconds faster off of the same motor. Now this is stock mind you as well. So I invited him to come to the track with me anytime he wishes when I go to watch me spank some Mustangs around. hehe. Why must they hate. Well here is my best 1/4 to date R/T 60ft 330 1/8 ET 1/8 MPH 1000 1/4 ET 1/4 MPH .535 1.886 5.610 80.05 8.592 11.189 13.434 101.54 I have a 82 280ZX turbo. Now from what Ive seen and done, I beat the easily. The new GT that he says I cant beat, puts out the same numbers pretty much. Wonder what the 05' Cobra does, Id love to be able to beat one by the time the summer is back around.

I hear you, it was strange that they were out, as I had said, it all pointed elsewhere, I hope it isnt as expensive as injectors too. It can cost a pretty penny rather quickly!
-
The best thing that you could do right now, is to take you car, go over all the systems, suspension, brakes, and motor. Then adjust your valves, do a complete tune up, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, change the oil and new air filter, tranny and diff oil. Make sure your car is in good tune first, then start with some modifications. Thats how I would go about it.
-
Actually that is exactly how I did it. Started there and had gone a bit more technical after the fact. Glad I had 4 injectors laying around. Seems they must have been going for a while as other small problems 2 to be exact have not disappeared as well. Im well chuffed.)
-
After much thought and time consuming affairs, the problem has been resolved, it was the injectors!! 3 of the were open and one not two like I had though were leaking. Basically just dumping all there fuel in all the time. She purrs like a kitten again, thanks to everyone for all theyre suggestions and help.

i had a 71 with ac completly stock with the spare and everyhing included in the car and about 8 gallons of gas, weighed in at 2250, now I have a 82 280ZXT, weighed in with 5 gallons of gas at 2750.

Well I was able with the new CHTS to get it running tonight. It did run really rough, and was still running extremely rich. No power and seemed to be flooding still. When I first tried to start it, it wouldnt start but tried. number one cylinder was carbon fouled, number six, not at all, 2-5 fuel fouled. Pulled the plugs, cleaned them and started over, it then ran but still like i said extremely rough and rich. I am at my wits end as to what is wrong with this car! Something I might have missed is that two injectors were leaking, I had listened to each injector, 2 of the six I could barely hear clicking on off, the rest were quite audible, could the injectors be stuck open? Could this be whats causing it to run so rich and flood out? Thanks for all the help you have given so far.

LOL Actually though Tim 240z couldnt be more right, the best and only way to truely know what kind of oil pressure you actually have is to use a mechanical gauge. With that there is no room for failure. Be forewarned, it might scare you a bit to see what your pressure is at idle. Its not as good as I know I would like it to be.

Still no start, car cranks, fuel, spark but...
EZ-E replied to EZ-E's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Good idea, I did test it, if what the FSM says about the temperature rise and fall when component testing, then at the temperature it was outside, it should be at this reading with what the outside temperature is. Thumper, yes we are talking about the same the Cylinder head temperature sensor. I had also replaced the sensor in the t-stat, that is the signal sensor not the gauge sensor as its wire was frayed and actually fell off as I was removing it to replace with the new sensor. The parts guy at Nissan had no problems with getting me a new Head temp sensor, it will be in tomorrow and I will see if she finally starts. Least I hope she does. Thanks again!
