    Welded R200

Digging up an old topic..... I am highly considering this since my car isn't daily-driven and has a serious peg-leg issue.
  2. I am thinking its a ground issue with the LS1 harness.
  3. Overkill. A 280z tank would help with the EFI though since it baffled. I am running a 400+ HP LSx and I am still using the stock 280z fuel lines and I don't have any issues past 6500+ RPM. This is also with a bone stock GM LS1 fuel pump.
  4. Why would you want to? I am running the DBW and I love it. That's interesting.....
  5. What about Tokico HP's and/or Illumina's? How much can they handle?
  6. I've heard some say that Tokico's limit is 250 lbs/in with coilovers. Does that also apply to the KYB GR2's in terms of spring limits? Thanks!!
  7. Hey guys, I have a '75 280z. My stock headlight bucket was trashed so a buddy gave me a bucket from a 240z. My question is what color wires from the 240z harness need go to the correct color wires on my 280z harness. Thanks!!
  8. Where did you get that center console? Thanks!!
  9. For the price difference, I am sure you'll be happy with the LM7 and a mild cam like the Lunati Voodoo 60510.
  10. Thanks guys, I am no stranger to do cam swaps LSx motors themselves, but I've always done it on an engine stand. Now SBC/BBC is another story, I've done dozens of in-car (Chevelles, Camaros, etc) cam swaps with those motors. Just never with a LSx AND installed in a S30. Hopefully I'll never need to worry about it personally since I did my cam swap while the motor was still sitting on the stand getting re-assembled. Thanks again.
  11. Miles and I were planning on swapping out the stock cam and valve springs in favor of a '02+ LS6 cam and springs in his 5.3 powered '73 S30 this weekend. The oil pan has me somewhat concerned since it has to drop alittle in order to get the front cover off. I have a Corvette LS2 oil pan in mine and its damn near resting on the rack and pinion. He has a '98-'02 F-Body oil pan on his and has alittle more room than I. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys have done a cam swap while the GEN III/IV motor while its still installed in their S30 (using JCI mounts)? If so, any helpful tips/tricks that we could use? Let's keep this thread from going off subject. Please do not post about doing a cam swap in any other type of motor or car since it doesn't pertain to this situation. Thanks guys.
  12. I live 2 hours North of Los Angeles just off the 99. There are two of us LSx powered S30 Z's here in Bakersfield too.
  13. Even if that is true, I'd think a '98-'02 F-Body oil pan would be cheaper and easier to find. In order to get 427 cubes with a 6.0 block you'll need a 4.25" stroker crank. That sounds nice on paper, but in the real world its another story. The problem with even the 4.00" stroker kits is the piston skirts are very short and they tend to rock in the bores and the make matters worse the the cylinder bore skirts on iron LS (4.8/5.3/6.0) blocks aren't as long/deep as the aluminum versions so the pistons leave the bores more on bottom dead center. Both of these issues will ruin a set of pistons over time. I can only imagine the length of time that a 4.25" stroker piston will last.....
  14. Nope, the truck pan will not work without lifting the car 8"+. Your only oil pan options (that I am aware of) are LS1 '98-'02 F-Body or '05-'07 Corvette LS2 (only the Corvette pan, not the TBSS, GTO, CTS-V, etc).
  15. JTR doesn't make a LSx mount kit, JCI does and that is what I am running as are dozens of others. JTR does sell LSx swap headers that are made custom for them by Sanderson. They are designed to work with JCI swap kit. I am also running these. I hear you on the gas mileage part. My last Z had a built big block 454 Chevy and got horrid mileage, but sure was fun! From someone who has run both a 2004 LM7 5.3 and a 2005 LQ4 6.0 I can tell you that both are awesome motors. IMO LS1/LS2/LS3/LS6 motors are way overpriced. I believe DoD came out in 2007 with the truck motors, but I wouldn't mess with the DoD. If mileage is a goal you don't need to worry. There are several here that have reported 30 mpg with their setups and many more I know are getting 25+ mpg.
  16. I imagine he is seeking better mpg and street manners. Both of which are easy to get with LSx power.
  17. The truck intake and alternator bracket will not clear the stock hood. In order to use the stock, unmodified hood you have to swap to a LS1/LS6 intake and Camaro accessory drive. That means you'll need a LS1/LS6 intake/fuel rails/injectors, '98-'02 LS1 Camaro alternator brackets/tensioner/idler/water pump/crank pulley, and you'll have to change the injector plugs on your harness since the car injectors are different from the truck injectors. In other words you'll spend some coin to make the stock hood work with a truck intake setup. There are lots of stuff like this on LS1Tech.com.
  18. I'll venture a guess you didn't read the whole thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=1057403&postcount=28
