  1. I do not have the JTR manual, its being ordered though. Oh, it isn't like I am wailing away at the damper with a hammer. I just tap in a circle with a rubber mallet until the thread can be caught by the damper bolt. Trust me, I would just the loan install tool, but my 'local' autoparts stores either don't have them or they are too stupid to know what it is (both totally possible) in order to give it to me.
  2. Well crap. It never crossed my mind about the damper size when I was ordering all the parts for the thing. I guess I'll end up bitting the bullet and forking the money over to get a 6.75" damper. It isn't so much about buying the thing, its that I just REALLY hate re-installing dampers on motors. I know I should break down and buy a damper installer tool, but I always end up using a rubber mallet until I can start the threads on the bolt and have it pull the damper the rest of the way on. The other thing that sucks about that is my timing chain cover has the timing mark tab just for the 8" damper, and I didn't want to remove my water pump or the cover if I could help it. I guess I could buy a bolt-on timing marker, then I wouldn't have to remove the water pump or the timing cover.
  3. I too have built a 383 w/ the 8" damper. I planned on buying the JTR kit tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to "space" the engine alittle higher with the JTR kit in order to get the required clearence? Thanks guys!!!
  4. Old post, but do the Summit block hugger headers work on the 1st GEN Z's?
  5. I am facing the same issues.
  6. The title pretty much sums it up, do you guys think any of the following headers will work with a straight-plug SBC without any problems? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7915768280&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7915619414&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7915199466&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Thanks guys!!
  7. Which part number for the poly motor mount is the one's needed for the JTR convo? I am ordering my JTR kit tomorrow and just wanna make sure I have everything here at the same time. Thanks guys!!
  8. Cool beans Tim. Are you running the same wheel/tire combo for the front and rear? What size tire(s) are you running? Lasty, off-topic, what rear spoiler do you have? Does MSA sell it? If so, which one is it? Thanks again!!
  9. Awesome!! I can't wait to see those. I am dropping in a mild Chevy 383 stroker/TH350 combo real soon and it would be great to see the diff I might be using.
  10. Should be same as the car, 1975. From the books I have 3.54 was the only gear ratio offered that year.
  11. One more question. Do you know of anything that will keep me from just swapping the LSD in place of the open carrier? I plan on all new seals and bearings of course, but I am looking at any mods to make the LSD work in my R-200 rear? Will my companion flanges just slide back in?
  12. Forwarded to me, even some of my democrat friends even laughed: Steps to becoming a GOOD Democrat Virtually anyone can be a Democrat. Just simply quit thinking (about it) and vote that way. If you want to be a GOOD Democrat, however, there are some prerequisites you must have first. Compare them below and see how you rate... 1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of Federal funding. 2. You have to believe that the same school system that can't teach 4th graders how to read is somehow the best qualified to teach those same kids all about sex. 3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law abiding Americans, are more of a threat than US nuclear weapons technology, in the hands of Chinese communists. 4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding. 5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected by Americans driving SUVs'! 6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural. 7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on demand. 8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity. 9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists from Seattle do. 10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it. 11. You have to believe that the US military starts wars--not evil tyrannical regimes. 12. You have to believe the NRA is bad, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good, because it supports certain parts of the constitution. 13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high. 14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E. Lee or Thomas Edison. 15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not. 16. You have to believe Hillary Clinton is all about "progress" and not power. She just wants to help us out of the archaic system of governing that we've been subjected to since our founding. 17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried, is because the right people haven't been in charge. 18. You have to believe Republicans telling the truth belong in jail, but a cheat, liar and sex offender belongs in the White House and you would vote him back in there in a New York minute (if you could). 19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag and transvestites should be constitutionally protected and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal. 20. You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the Chinese is somehow in the best interest of the United States. 21. You have to believe that the vociferous minorities who protest against prayer and saluting the flag in school, the 10 commandments in court, have far more rights than the majority who believe in God and country and want these values to be instilled in our young children. If you are locked in solidly to most of these beliefs - you're gonna be a big asset to John Kerry.
  13. Thanks Matt, I called to get a price today and they are $600 in-stock, ready to ship. I think I'll end up going that route, less than half of the price of a Torsen and still better than rebuilding a '88-'89 clutch unit.
  14. Hello, have seen the 'Power Brute' on http://www.precisiongear.com/powerbrute.htm# . Has anyone run these yet? Looks very promising for me. The only thing that bothers me is that I thought I read that my R200 has 10mm ring gear bolts. The 'Power Brute' lists for 12mm R200. Has anyone come up with a type of sleeve that will allow the use of the 'Power Brute'? Would I need anyother special parts to do this conversion? I plan on keeping the stock U-joint axles until I start breaking the Spicer U-joints. I also heard somewhere years ago that TracTech was planning on building and producing a Detroit Locker for the Nissan R-200. Did they ever build it? I am building a drag car from my 280z and would prefer to stay with the IRS, at least as long as I am running in the 10" tire DOT radial class. Any help is welcomed and thanked in advance.
  15. Do you think the JTR or MSA SBC mounts could be used to mount a BBC in a 1st GEN Z?
  16. I wonder if the JTR or MSA mounts could be used to physically mount a BBC since the mount location is the same between SBC and BBC. Plus the length difference between a SBC and a BBC is in front of the mounting points, the length from the engine mounts back, is the same. Might be worth a shot to buy them and find out. Of course headers and other things would still be an issue.
  17. The pics aren't showing, any chance they could be reposted? Thanks!!
  18. I look over your site (loved the 409 Impala). I was curious if you had any pics of the section quoted above? Sounds like a great way to mount the S/S bars' date=' but a picture would be great to see the 1 1/2" x 3" tubing running under the car. If you want to email me the pictures: [email']Project_BBZ@ComCast.net[/email] Thanks in advance for the help!!
