  1. Hmm, dropping a cone OUT of a moving car I've done...see the What's the evilest prank you;ve ever played thread Owen
  2. Are we talking side markers or side indicators? Where I am, side markers are right in front of the leading edge of the door, like Porsche, Saab, etc. This was the big thing back in the days before the import craze. Ahhh, I remember hunting the parking lots (not junk yards) for those Saabs. I was thinking of adding these to the Z, but am debating...they are pretty played out border line cool. But safe nonetheless! There WAS a way to make the lites blink alternately from the turn signals, can't remember though... Owen
  3. I hit the "END" button on the computer after the 3rd line but welcome! Owen
  4. Duuude, are those Long Champ wheels? What size are they? Sweet! Owen
  5. Sorry for the ignorant question but how much of an advantage going to the larger rotor and larger pad? The size increase doesn't look like it's all that much. My application is street so I don't think I could justify it but I'd still like to know how much better this setup is. Also, those look like coilover setups, this is the stock strut right? I love the rear setup, is the ebrake usable? Thanks, Owen
  6. Funny, I thought they came from a later Z like a 280Z...was debating whether to buy them or pull them at the yard. But if they'r e not recommended for street use, forget it. Owen
  7. They're 30A 12V relays, should be enough, no? Owen
  8. Kinda dangerous place for them if you intend to look at them. Also may cause a problem if you install a rollcage and the bars pass right in front of them. I took out the stock AC panel (and heater), made a sheet metal plate and opened up holes for two more gauges there. Other than that...how about cups mounted on the windshield pillar, the dash, or the cover for the fuse box? Crazy thing I saw was three mini gauges mounted right under (or above?) the rear view mirror. I can send you a pic if you want. Owen
  9. I've got my headlites wired and everything and they work fine except for one thing. The high beams... Both the low and hi are hooked up to their own relays, and the lows work fine. But when I try to turn on the high beams, the lows either turn off without the highs turning on; or, everything turns off... It's not a problem with the switch because I installed a new assembly, so it must be that the hi is shorting out the low at the lites somehow? I can hear the relay for the hi beam click but no lite. That means the turn sig assy is sending a signal just fine to the relays I believe. Once in a while the highs will work fine, like once in 100 times... Oh well, gonna do some more checking tonite... Owen
  10. While FRP and carbon are nice, I think the parts are too expensive to replace or repair. Watch how the parts just shatter off this car when it hits a rather soft object. http://199.190.101.49/movies/hare.mpeg Owen
  11. The correct rim/tire width? I don't know actually, I would try to find specs on the orignal 240ZG and use that as a the smallest wide tire you can use. I have 245's on the rear, coilovers, no fender rolling (haven't driven it though so...). The wheels are 16 x 10inch with -12 offset I believe. Even then the tire edge does not come out all the way to the fender lip. Owen

    recaro seats

That would depend on what type of Recaro seat you're talking about right? Did you try their website? Owen
  13. Are you implying that I'm not working??? Just kidding Owen
  14. Pulled my R180 off this weekend, the manual says theres a nut holding the shaft to the flange on the diff, and it shows it on the outside of the two. After a while, I figured out it was inside where to two meet. The R200 seemingly does not have this holding nut? Owen
  15. We were talking about this in one of my threads, but it seems that the stock prop valve is located in different places depending on the year of the early Z. My 73 has it on the firewall, near the tunnel on the drivers side. Does anyone know...if it is illegal (track wise) or unsafe to route the brake lines thru the interior of the car? Owen
  16. Howz this? From 1st to 2nd and up, keep the gas pedal mashed down the whole time. When it comes time to shift just hit the clutch pedal. But get a rev limiter! Owen
  17. I mounted my indicators in the bottom right of the AC panel (where the radio goes). Since they're bright LEDs they don't have to be right in front of me, I can see them clearly out of the corner of my eye and I can hear the flasher clicking. Moved the high beam indicator there too. Owen
  18. $800 for installation AND tuning I assume? Still, it's just a bunch of wires, nothing incredibly special. Just route the wires, crimp the terminals and that's it. I did mine myself but have not started the car for tuning yet. Now I know who to ask the questions too Owen PS Check your wiring against the manual, mine was different and upon contacting them, they gave me the right colors, etc. PPS Haltech USA is no better help than the guy at your local gas station. Contact Haltech in Australia directly.
  19. Mark, I'd be interested, where is Chico anyway? I have a set of chrome rims that are flaking like crazy. Also have a set of fender mirrors I need to get chromed or polished too. Owen
  20. I don't really remember which freeway but I have the business cards at home. Email me and remind me. The engines were all out of the cars and lined up in the yard, I wonder how one could check the quality of a removed engine without actually tearing it down? Owen
  21. Are you talking about the tach with built in lite or a completely separate lite all together? I think someone here has one with the built in, otherwise you can just mount the external one anywhere, looks kinda weird just sitting by itself on the dash though... Owen
  22. Welcome! Under $2002? Wow! Make sure to document that as doing a cheap swap is a hot topic around here. Good luck! Owen
  23. I went aftermarket too for the same reasons, but with Pete's info about Autometer gauge inaccuracy (mine are electrical)...but at least they look a lot better. I have a '76 gas tank and am using the fuel/voltmeter gauge from that car. Lite is not brite though! Not a problem. If you have the bux and can stomach it, go with the import aftermarket gauges from Trust, HKS, Apex, etc. They are much more reliable and accurate. "Uhhhh, $200 for oil temp gauge? I'll take the Autometers" Owen
  24. Documentation for sure, how much time and money would it take to mount an inline 4 in the Z? Unless theres some kits out there we havent heard of. I would either go L6 turbo or V8 for ease and the amount of knowledge out there. You said you're in Palmdale? Have you been to the junkyard heaven over in the Burbank/Glendale area? Couple of weeks ago a friend that went with me was quoted $350 VG30DETT and $350 for the 5-spd tranny. Come to think of it, there was an '83 turbo longblock for $300, tranny was automatic though.
