  1. Took mine out with the Sawzall. Quick and easy. Lay on your stomach and wear your goggles.
  2. It would be easy to build. The G-nose would match right up to the SubtleZ front fenders above the bumper line. Below that, the airdam line, you would need to get the ends of the SubtleZ airdam (John will sell you just those) and blend them into the G-nose airdam. I think it would look great. I'm not a big fan of the G-nose myself, my wife loves it. It ws developed, as I understand, to improve the miserable airodynamics of the S30. I don't like the fact that it moves the front wheels farther back visually. I like the "pushed to the corners" look of the stock nose. I've got to run to breakfast right now. I'll post some more pics of my car on this thread later today after work. Dan "JUDAY"
  3. I am sick sick sick of all the politics on this site. No, this site was created for the Z car, that's it. Every damn political joke gets turned into a big argument that does nothing but separate us. It's the common item, the Z car that brings us together. Earlier this year I almost posted my final farewell because I'd had enough of all the political crap here. If you want to have a stiring political discussion there are umpteen sites out there to do that without being perturbed by people talking about Z cars. A good buddy here on this site reminded me that, "You don't have to read those threads, Dan". And I can't argue with that logic. It's just that I don't come to this site to be presented with those types of discusions. I've never brought this up to a moderater because I see them participate in the political posts more than most others. Figured they wouldn't be very simpathetic. Well, maybe I was wrong (Thanks for your post Mikelly). There, I spouted. But it's been boiling under my shin for quite a while. Now it's out.
  4. If you are going five lug then you can get Ross's hubs with the Chevy bolt circle. There must be more options with Chevy wheels.
  5. Hey! I have a rat, and that is an insult to rats.
  6. First off I have a bias. I love my tpi for the big bags of torque down low. The tpi is a great platform for boosting, either TC or SC. The long intake runners that are reponsible for that great low rpm torque also rob the motor of high end power. Add boost and you have the best of both worlds. As far as reprogramming the ECM, you will have to do that anyways if you add boost. And you have options: get a PROM burner and use the stock ECM or go with any of the aftermarket engine management systems currently on the market, or buy or build a Megasquirt DIY system for a low buck alternative. Either way there is a learning curve you will need to traverse. IMHO it is well worth it. Turbo Meister, a member here, has a cool sbc twin turbo/carb setup in his Z. Very fast! Very cool! But even he has told others when asked to go EFI. In the end tuning will be much easier and much more precise.
  7. I can't believe how short sighted you guys are! The problem is that you are so self-absorbed all you want to do is spew your own slanted thoughts just to see your words on a monitor that you don't take the time to read what you are responding to!!! We all have needs and a right to express our views, don't we? Now pay attention!!! David is looking for an LSD! L S D!!!!!!
  8. The valance (the part under the headlight bucket) will be different. I believe everything else will bolt up just fine. The later 280's had plastic fender liners and their fenders had holes to bolt these to. The 240 fender will not have the mounting holes for the liner. You can let it hang without the bolts or just remove the liner, if your car has them.
  9. Wow! The piston strokes in a rotating cylinder that is also the output shaft and the the intake (and exhaust?) valving. Vary cool.
  10. Hey Myron, (Yes, I'm still fuming over the great deal you got. GRRRR!) Try dropping an e-mail or a PM to Mike, a.k.a. mas280, or Mike Knell of JTR. I think his marker is JTR Mike or something like that. These guys are working together to produce a new JTR kit for the LS1.
  11. The best results I've had washing dishes and extracting rusted bolts have the same motto,"let it soak". Since you are not in a big hurry I would recommend that you spray the penitrating oil on a couple times a day for several days before you do any drilling. Actually, this would have been good advice before you started wrenching.
  12. Now stop that. You're making the French look like hypocrites.
  13. I love my tpi/T5. Gobs of torque and looks cool when you pop the hood. But I'd have to recommend the LT1. More power and more potential. Reasonably priced JY examples are still out there. Lighter in F-body trim due to aluminum heads. Bolts up with the standard JTR kit and no hood latch mod required. T5 or T56 will bolt right up. If you go T5 you had better beef it up though, to handle the power. Only downside is the high price of getting the A/C compressor to mount in the right spot to fit in the S30. If you go LT1, '95 is the prefered year. Last year of the OBDI ECM and first year of the upgraded opti-spark.
  14. I like the idea. He just chose the wronge ZX to rob the lights from.
  15. Terry, I'm glad you're alright , really! But I was reading each line in fear that you were going to say that you knocked something heavy over onto the Z!!!! Remember, flesh heals, cars you've got to fix!
  16. Eh, looks a little puffy. Like someone popped it in the mouth and now it has a swollen lip.
  17. I'm with Terry, it looks just right. Best exhaust tip solution I've seen on a VR.
  18. From a guy who has been there and back... Wannabe is giving good advice. When I took my car down every assembly got bagged and tagged. Ziplock and Sticky Note pads. I didn't take pictures and that would have helped. Even if you plan to replace the hardware when you put it back together (most of my bolts and screws where rusted up good) you will want them for reference so you buy the right size replacement stuff. My car was apart for years. When it went back together I would have given up from frustration if I hadn't have done the "bag and tag shuffle". You have no idea how many nuts bolts and screws there are in that little Z of yours. "Billions and billions"!
  19. All S30 ('70-'78 ) hoods interchange with no modifications. There you go! Tell us where you live. There may even be a member here that has a hood for sale in your area.
  20. Like Zach infered, there are fiberglass and CF versions of the stock dash. Vintage Tech Z makes an "improved" version of the stock dash. ArizonaZ makes a swoopy doopy custom fiberglass dash and center console. Reaction Research sells a couple types of a Ferrari 250 GTO style dashs for it's Vello Rossa kit. And Rory Bateman makes a dash "cap" that fits over the 280 dash (and the 240 with a little massaging) that accomodates a forth 2 5/8" gauge. This cap is from his Cobra-esk Tomahawk Z kit and while all scientific tests indicate that it is made from fiberglass in reality it is made from the untra-rare unobtainium. Those are all the ones I know of.
  21. Wow! Masterful. Are those opening compartments in the door panels?
  22. If your fab skills are wanting you may find that your frustration level will quickly rise to the $300+ level of the JTR kit. I found the kit to be very well made and a bargan. Even though I could make it myself I chose to buy it (twice) and I'm very happy I did.
