  1. Saw one of those motors apart yesterday in an El Do. It was in for a burnt valve and had the intake and one head off. This is the only way to get a good look at the starter! Not what I'd call a really service friendly motor. Still, if I could get one complete for a hundred clams I'd do the swap. 400/400 with bolt-ons?!?! That would be one bad hybrid. 8)
  2. If you drive it so little you should get your insurance from Hagerty. I pay about $400 a year for $25k policy and drive my Z about the same as you, maybe a little more. They say you can only drive it for club events or to be serviced or to and from shows but they don't require the odometer numbers and their client literature even encourages you to drive your car for fun. They are more concerned that you own at least one other car for each driver in your home. They don't want you to be driving it as a commuter car. http://www.hagerty.com/
  3. The first C6 showed up here in Rio the last week in August. Our Chevy dealer says the next 6 are pre-sold. No word on if any of those are Z06s. I like the shape. Very clean, evolutionary. Not very bold of the designers though. I lament the demise of the hide-a-way headlights. Not since 1962, the year I was born! I think the "Stingray" design philosophy has gone about as far as it can be taken. I think it may be time to take the look of the Vette in a new direction. They've done it before, '63, '68, (and to a lesser degree in '84). Some of us Z guys gripe about the look of the new 350Z but at least the designers had the cahones (sp?) to go a new way. I read in a an unrelated post here that blunders can be forgiven, but lack of boldness cannot! To me, JMHO FWIW, no one can accuse the designers of the C6 of being bold.
  4. 10" wheels fit perfect in the 280YZ kit from Reaction Research. http://www.reactionresearch.com/280yzgallery.html And they're very easy on the optic nerve. 8) Shipping from Phoenix to Sydney could be a show stopper though. $$$$$$
  5. It is just miserable on these skinny little 305's. One little stab of the throttle and up in smoke they go.
  6. So Peej, what's with the notched firewall? Going for extreme setback?
  7. Well, maybe Mike's not the first, but he must hold the speed record for doing the swap! And this is a guy with a full time job that's not in the car biz.
  8. So Mike are you going to federalize it so it can be smog inspected and registered like a normal car?
  9. That's a joke, right? I mean, uh... right?
  10. "And on the selfish side..." All this hand wringing over G.W. has done wonders for my industry (air conditioning). All the legislation has done nothing but boost prices (and my bottom line! Ka-ching!) FYI, thinking about a new A/C for your home? Buy now. The Dept. of Energy is raising the minimum efficiency standards next year. More Ka-ching ching for me!
  11. Very exciting! I've been wondering how things are progressing. I'd love to do a LS1/VR some day.
  12. I was thinking that the Vortech SC would be perfect for my tpi motor. I already have gobs of torque out of the hole. It would be great if the power stayed past 4500 rpms. Just have trouble loosening up that much cash.
  13. Dude! Right on! I have got to get the dish back.
  14. Actually Bill, I've seen his act live. Trust me, it's better in print. J.K. buddy
  15. This was yacked about before. Several guys said,"Oh no! you don't want to plumb your return into your sump! Turbulance, and bubbles, and lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!" Turbulance schmurbulance. I've had my return plumbed into the sump since I built it and no problems. (baffled sump)
  16. They've got better jokes over there than we do! I was serious! LOL I am getting close to my swap. I was serious too! Have you read the jokes over there?
  17. Wife read while I slowly scrolled down. She got four right!
  18. Welcome to HybridZ! Quick and simple answer is: nope. Sorry, you're on your own.
  19. Sounds like your misstake was deciding not to buy the JTR kit.!
  20. Absolutely, no question. But still, ceiling fans? I see no forced air registers. Probably not even air conditioned.
  21. There are some incredable new adhesives out now that offer a viable alternative to welding to repair small rust areas like you describe. Proper surface preparation and attention to fit are essential for good results. I would drop a PM to Racer X. Ernie is extremely knowledgable in this area and always willing to share his expertize.
  22. Yup, there's that steering arm issue. Maybe the best thing in your case might be custom TC rods with the "cups" relocated to give more exhaust room?
