  1. Scotty, you dog. I wish I could buy a Christmas gift like that for a buck! Cool, cool, car. Restore it right and it will always be a prize. Lenard, I knew you were going to regret selling your 327. That little huffer just aint gonna be nuff fo u.
  2. Automotive wiring is really very simple. Even the FI swap I did ('91 tpi, used the stock harness) was a lot easier than I first anticipated. I think you lose out two ways when you buy one of those pre-made harnesses: 1. $$$ Remember, it's only painless after you pay for it. 2. You don't learn anything. Before I cut my first wire I wouldn't know what to do if the motor didn't run right. I didn't have a clue about FI. When I was done I was confident that I could troubleshoot any problem I might have. And, I gained a new appreciation for my motor. IMHO, do it yourself. It will cost you less than $40 and you will richer in knowledge.
  3. Not the route I would go. I'd find a T5 out of a V8 F-body. I've been told that the T5 for the V6 is not as stout as the one for the V8. So, you spend money on mis-matched parts to begin with, then brake the tranny and have to re-do it the right way the second time? Even if this a very mild 305 now, you will want to at least pump it up in the future. Maybe even swap it out later for a strong 350? Put the right tranny and clutch in now and avoid headaches and wasted money in the future. Just my humble opinion.
  4. Ah yes, the dreaded SCOPE CREAP. We can all take them apart. But can we all put them back togather?
  5. Take a look at my sig. They fit like... well... they were made for it. But where are you going to get a set?
  6. Rocker Bars! Dude, that is just way too much information. Come on man this is a family site. Oh, and, ah... you mixed up those pics. I'm looking at somebodys Jeep.
  7. It would need to be flexable. Is what you have seen corrigated? Maybe a thin corrigated tubing over the rubber hose? Unless the engine is ridgidly mounted The tubing/hoses must be flexable.
  8. Thanks John for your studly insight. Seriously, I was about to ask the same question Alex did. I've just been lurking, waiting for your reply. Longer wheel studs are part of my next phase, if I ever get the car back.
  9. Jon, do you really think it's right to be talking about your wifes rack on a public forum? Ah...BTW those pics didn't load. Do you think you could e-mail me a set? And title you e-mail "z car pics" if you wouldn't mind.
  10. I had the same problem finding a modern wheel wider than 7" or 8". Then there is the whole offset/bolt pattern/wheel spacer/adapter thing. In the end it was just cheaper and simpler to buy semi-custom billit wheels. Measure, give them your specs, send a check, done.
  11. Jon, you wild man. I was sure you had just blown us off! In fact, I've been going around telling everyone,"That Jon, he's just blown us off". Just kidding. Hey glad to hear from ya. And you've made a lot of new mods to that FoMoJap. I love your strut braces. What did all that cost you? You have to help me with mine If I ever get my car back. Are those new valve covers too? Hey, I know it's late notice, but a friend and I may be taking a little local hybrid tour tomorrow. Are you interrested? If so, e-mail me tonight. Dan
  12. This swap has been done. There are a couple of Australian guys that post on this site that you should talk to. The motor down there is 4 litre Rover motor (Land Rover?, something like that). I even saw a site once where a guy must have spent something like $20K to get 300 ponies out of one. Doesn't make sense to me, but to each his own.
  13. Very col Mat! I gotta know. Who won the strut cartridge Tug-O-War, Ford or Chevy?
  14. New vintage look VDO set. VDO set on ebay
  15. I would agree with you John that the "correct" or most consistant way to measure backspacing is from the inside of the bead. The thickness of rim beads can very and thus be an inaccurate way to measure. Although, most are close to 1/2". That being said, when I ordered my wheels from Billet Specialties they measure backspacing from the outside, or extreme inboard edge of the rim. So, according to the guys who made my 15x8 rims with 4 3/4" backspacing, they have a positive offset of 0.25", not 0.75". Just make sure you know how they measure if you plan on ordering custom wheels.
  16. Hey Mark alsoransomewhereinthemiddleofKansas, I like your sig. But if Sam Clemmons said it , he got it from a jew named Solomon. Proverb 17:28 "Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and decerning if he holds his tongue." NIV Oh ya, and a little wisdom on that trailer thing from an OLD guy. Build it stronger than you think you need it to be and don't worry about a few extra pounds. Years down the road you'll, undoubtedly, want to move something much heavier on it.
  17. Oh paw-lllleeessse, Len. That thing looks like too many trips to Pep Boys "adhesive speed accessories" department. And this is coming from a guy that LIKES to glue plastic to his Z.
  18. Like this? Or this for side pipes? Then finish it like this? Or maybe even....THIS?
  19. Sorry Oz, They are NLA. They may be produced in the future if things work out. The molds are currently in the hands of the non-owner and the owner doesn't want the business anymore. Do a search in this forum for John Washington to learn more. If you monitor this site you will be one of the first to know if, and when, they become available again. BTW, welcome to Hybrid.
  20. Must have happened when I was "between" computers. Hey Super Dan, any chance of getting it back?
  21. You Bet I will!!!! I owned a '85 Dodge GLH turbo. K-car based, 2.2L. That thing went liked a raped ape. BMW actually had to change their ad programs that year. They were going to bragg that they had the fastest accellerating four door sadan in America, untill that humble Dodge shamed them. Oh ya, it turned out to be a piece of crap.
  22. $2k is a very good price for that combo (LS1/T56). I would expect $3k would be a great deal, $3500-$4000 is the going rate I've seen. I paid $2k for my 305 TPI/T5 combo. Like Tim said, "Jump on it!"
  23. Very nice John. I can't wait for my body man to get finished with mine. Or started for that matter.
