  1. Thanks for the PM Mike, I consider my chops busted from this string. Hopefull you got my responce, I saved it in case you didn't get it. I truely believe there are extreamly knowledgeable people here. I don't trust too many engineers, . They tend to make claimes without backup. True or not. BTW, please keep your helmet on when going over 140 on a MC, you'll probably regret it, although you might not fly off that's not too fast. But above 150? Watch out for that swarm of lucusts or the bottlecap in the road. OUCH! Point being, be careful out there before some kids on this site try it and hurt themselves or others. I don't think there is any road in the continental us that you can go over 100 and not get arrested on the spot. They shutdown the open roads in Big Sky Country I heard.
  2. He's be better off with a whoopass dad, he's a spoiled brat for sure if this is his third accident. Even my wife only got to total two cars before her mom took her liscence till she was out of the house. (mostly because the insurance was like 1000/mo at that point.) C'mon! (not her fault in both cases, both drunk drivers, but I think said they had stuck throttles). She doesn't cause the accidents, instead they are drawn to her like crazy. She parked my honda and a skateboarder hit it and dented the heck out of the side, he also left his faceplant and hand print on the back window. It was perfect back then, $2100 in damage, of course he didn't leave a note. Crinkled like tin foil! Hondas suck.
  3. Just buy an inground safe and put all the weapons you want in it, put floorboards and carpet over it and even the dogs will miss it. But for god's sake don't put anything else in there you don't want the dogs to find. Martial law sucks. Espeically when 18-year-olds in uniform are telling you what you can or can't do when they don't even know what they are saying. One side of the fence says we are just a short while from martial law, it's not going to be fun. The other side says it could never happen. I wonder what the jews were thinking in say 1935 Germany? Or the Asian-Americans in America on that note? Did they see the concentration camps coming? I don't think so, but the ones who did got the heck out of dodge believe me. If you don't learn from history you are doomed to repeat it.
  4. Isn't geiko a government subsidized insurance co? I bet they have special restrictions like, "you're paying nearly s*** for this policy, don't get into any accidents, or drive on sundays or you're dropped." Read the fine print.
  5. I don't think it would be unsafe, but the performance should improve slightly. Probably not noticeable except on the race track. But you are in essence increasing the width of the car which will give it better stability.
  6. My 73 suburban with a 350sbc broke a connection to the piped factory oil pressure gage. Of course I had no idea and ran an estimated 1 mile at 35mph without oil (that's where the oil trail I left in the road stopped). The entire trip was only ~4 miles, but the oil started dropping with a huge puddle at about mile 1.5 and stopped other than a drip at mile 3. That's just the oil pressure gage and it was a tiny little brass line. The car engine survived and I didn't notice anything wrong with it the next 6 months I owned it.
  7. don't you just hate it when your warp core breaches and causes your throttle to stick? Almost every dang day for me and I just turn off the key. But that's just me, this guy must have thought a fence would be better than the brakes. you know he didn't stand on the brakes or there would be at least some sign of burnt rubber on the street. but I only see a small streak just before hitting the curb.
  8. you da man MrWOT! I especially like the picture of the trashcan under his rear bumper. I think he was hitting trash cans and then lost control. Did you see how close he was to hitting that suburban? He'd be dead. Why was he spared, but my poor cat had to die of cancer at the age of 21?
  9. I know that look, it's the look of a puppy just before he launches at your face for a severe licking. DON'T GET TOO CLOSE or it may slip you the toung!!! BBBLLLLLAAAA!!!!!!!!
  10. Of course I was joking and any FBI agents out there, my name is Jack Mehoffer 123 Screwy Lane San ... uh... Dorado Texas , yeah.
  11. There are a lot of bitter people out there. A lot of jerks, a lot of losers, and a lot of inconsiderate brats. Sounds like he's all of the above. I'd say, thank him, pray for him, then report him to the IRS, FBI and claim he told you about burring some bodies in a nearby field after cheating on his taxes , oh and if he's married, call up at 3am crying and asking why he won't come back to you (you'll be doing her a favor). If he has kids, call CPS, you'll be doing them a favor. You'll feel better and haven't actually done anything wrong (technically). He was blithering and blathering about the inner workings of a wankle, those words could have been easily misunderstood. 8) Did I forget to mention do it all anonymously?
  12. That ford looks nice, too bad it's a ford, they'll find some way to screw it up inside that nicely sculpted body. I really don't like the idea of buying a car that is exactly the same as another car... There is just something wrong with this. Cheapens it somehow. I like that first gen Z. It's probably my favorite design, but the GT40? Well that's just a masterpeice. Would give one arm and one leg, but then couldn;t drive it so no deal, I'll take the 240Z Or *ahem* 570Z.
  13. Hmmm... The only thing I can think of is, get a carburator. A lot less headache when troubleshooting.
  14. I totally agree to what he has said, but I was taught on much older engines than 1980 and those engines are more sensitive to, or create more shavings and dirt. Just keep the oil changes frequent, don't go by that 7000 mile change interval that manufacturers are saying now. It just doesn't sould right, and remember, they want your engine to fail the day after the powertrain warrenty. I think we have some good info here.
  15. There, I'm glad I got those out, now I know my source is not necessarly correct 100% of the time. I've been watching salt flats races too much maybe, sorry. But the truth is, it's dangerous above 150. So just say no. Hey, laughing with me, laughing at me, what's the difference. I obviously need attention. Hopefully my B.S. is exceeded by my words of wisdom. Remember a 10ton plane can still fly, don't think that the 1000 lbs of front end will keep you grounded, but when you've gone 175 in your Z and your "floaty front end" is still on the ground, I'll personally send you a free gift certificate to Oscars (worth $5.00 off with meal). And what happened to the emoticons? I lost half of them!
  16. Those honda have low gears, the turbo will be worthless in 1st and 2nd (no time to build up), but watch his jump to third ~ 55mph he'll be in full force. But at this point you'll probably be back at the table eating a stick of BBQ corn. Good luck, and keep us posted.
  17. Of course those who went faster than 155 cannot currently report it. RIP. One of two things will happen near this speed and above in a stock 1970's Z-car body. 1. The front "floating" will turn into flying catch air and could flip the car. If it doesn't flip then when the back of the car hits dirt it will slam the front back down and probably wreck. 2. The rear tires will lose traction when the force of the air on the front of the car exceeds the traction in the tires. If you maintain control of the car (nearly impossible at that speed without airfoils) you will possibly spin, possibly flip, possibly catch air sideways and take off (notice the air flap which opens every time the race cars are sliding sideways, without that the car could become a crude wing and actually lift off .) They don't put those truns on a track for looks, they're for safety. So be careful when checking this on your car. And if the front end feels "floaty" you're at your limit and you've probably just cheated death.
  18. great info! All I want is a "daily driver" man, maybe I shoud just stay under 300hp?
  19. the dang nox killed tow of my cars, I hat smog checking that's why I'm going all sub 1975. But the NOX is specifically heat related the chamber is too hot. What causes heat? High compression Lean condition Carbon build up Make your play I'm out!!!
  20. Wow we really beat that horse to death and then kept beating till dogfood came out his butt!
  21. Well it does have two more hamsters, and they don't have to run as fast so they'll be happier. Now go spank some overbuilt 280's.
  22. Sorry, not "AS MUCH" protection, but how much "protection" do you need, and will 5 quarts full synthetic give you so much more protection that it's worth doing every XXXX miles? In my experiance 4 qts of conventional and 1 qt of synth will have significantly less wear than straight conventional. Replace you oil and filter on a new engine as follows. 100 miles. <-flush out the bad metal stuff 500 miles. <-check for bad bearings 1000 miles. <-double check for problems 2000 miles. 4000 miles. 6000 miles. 8000 miles. 10000 miles. then every 2500+/-500 miles forever. This is within the breakdown limits for the worst SAE oil you can buy. Of course if you buy name brand at $1.50+/qt. then why not keep it in for a couple thousand more. But to get above 5k miles, you really need a good filter because that carbon starts to build up and could work like a slurry instead of a lubricant. This will ensure all the metal is out of the engine and as good protection as possible. I also feel that you should wait 10,000 miles before adding synthetic, but if you don't believe me, tear the engine down after 5000 and see if the rings are seated, if so, go ahead. If not, wait 10k. Back to oil... So you could add just full synthetic, but then how often do you replace it? If you followed manufacturer's specs you'd think 7000k is fine, but not unless you buy the most expensive straight oil and the best quality filter. I buy cheapo filters and lowest quality (but SAE rated) straight oil, throw a quart of syntec in it and boom the oil feels different, the idle seems smoother, and the car runs better (subjective). After two cars that both got over 200k before the first sign of burning oil I fell this works pretty good.

I like that engine, but I heard it's crap. Search for this engine mentioned in this forum. Don't knowmuch beyond that.
