86 Skyline R200 fit in a 240z that has a R200 currently?
briann510 replied to briann510's topic in Drivetrain
By the looks of it the Skyline R200 looks like its a long nose. Hopefully looks arent deceiving. -
I have a R200 in our 240z now, but have access to a R31 R200 lsd thats in a Skyline. The Skyline is also a R200 but I dont know if its the same dimensions as what ive got now and will go right in without any modifications. It looks pretty much exactly what ive got now, but not sure if it will use the same mustache bar etc.. Im pretty sure the cv shafts I have will pop right in as a direct swap.

Maximum achieved HP/TQ out of a NA L motor. (just curious)
briann510 replied to a topic in Nissan L6 Forum
actually it was 278 and with Mikunis and 9.7:1 compression... but we are going to do a cam change and up the compression some so should be a squeeker more when done. BUT I liked your 298 comment! -
i raise my hand on having a N42 making a little bit of hp on our carbed stroker.

For all that think Centerforce clutches are good
briann510 replied to EZ-E's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
The CF DF in our 320 hp L6 stroker has about 4K of intense driving, clutch dumping and constant 7k shifts and is just fine. I also have a CF DF in my 600 hp Pontiac and it has well over 3K hard driven miles on it and is just fine. I know dozens of other people with high hp engines that have no problems either...BUT I know people with problems just as well. Its like buying a steak from the same place, sometimes its good and sometimes its not. -
the videos are on my site listed in above post.

My son kicks WRX'S AZZES with his NA stroker.

I figured you (Tony), was in some 3rd world country with nothing else to do while off work. I mean how many burro shows can a person actually go watch....LOL
-
Oh man... 5 in a row Tony!
-
Well I wouldnt argue with Tony on this as for the most part it is there for a reason as he pointed out quite clearly and factually and probably for the average owner should be left intact. I recall asking Tony for advise on this a couple years ago when I bought our Z and it was plugged off because it leaked.

Well that makes sense, but since when do people drive their street cars around with no nitrous bottle in it? Or were you referring to it actually "inside" the car instead of the trunk? I was told by 3 seperate officers (2 city cops and 1 CHP) if they pulled me over (or got me parked i na parking lot when they raised my hood) and found the nitrous hooked up to a bottle period they would tow me. Thats enough of a incentive not to put it on. Ive seen 3 cars towed so far this last year from the local hangouts when the cops decided to come in and raise everyones hoods.

We have stock radiator with 1 14" electric cooling fan and use water wetter and water only and we have yet to run any hotter that 200 degrees even on 95 degree days in traffic. Most of the time the fan isnt even turned on.
-
Just drill and tap the intake runners for the nozzles. If you want to hide them drill em underneath where they are hard to see and can be covered up. We had a 150 shot fogger system ready to go on our triple Mikuni setup and then decided against it after the local cops told me they would tow the car if they found it on there on the street (the local cops know the car well and havnt been able to legally nail us so far).

Actually the starting bid for that car on ebay was 9K, the ebay reserve was 12K. Ive had countless offers on it for trades and payment options. No one has that kind money with out financing unfortunatly.

FYI: Rebello told me not to run the bypass just like he tells all of his customers who have his engines its not needed. Its his motor and warranty so I listen to him since hes been building these engines for 30+ years and probably knows what hes talking about. I even asked 4 of his workers that drive and race Datsuns what they did, and they all said they dont run it either. Its not in the norm not to run a bypass thats for sure, but different strokes as they say... "Make twice the HP Briann is, and see if the cooling system is still up to par" well im not making twice the hp I am so what your implying is the bypass isnt needed for low hp engines?? And I dont think the original poster of this thread is making 600+ hp either so does he really need it refering back to your quote? LOL I wonder how many people that dont use the bypass have actually had problems? I bet no one posting on here will say they have. If someone is uncomfortable with not running a bypass dril la hole in the thermostat as suggested. The thermostat I bought at autozone already had a hole in it anyway exactly for this purpose.
-
I dont run it at all, never have and never will. I know guys that have had it bypassed for 10 or more years and their engines are fine.

My son raced a pretty stout 2002 TA last year in his Z last year and they were dead even. Didnt need a turbo to keep up with the guy and he had just run some mid 12's the week prior at the track. Right after that I was in my Z06 and some guy in a turbo'd 260z wanted to run me. he said hed blow me away. so im nice to the guy since we also own a Datsun z. i suggested we race from a 120 mph start and id show him how id whip his *** all the way to 180 mph. so we ended up racing off the line and i beat him anyway....he later said he was running 12's and im like dude, 12's i left behind long ago in this car. come back and run me when you are in the mid 11's. if i cant win em 1/4 mile i will challenge em to a top end blast cause they aint gonna have the best of both worlds.

15K for whole car, but he wants to actually sell the engine and go with a supercharged LS1, so we might just sell the engine. We have the original hood, cv axles with modern motorsports billet adapters ready to install, extra 5 speed tranny and YZ rear flares (3" wider than stock) we just bought this week from Reaction Research. quite a few pictures and information on our website: http://www.bbgraphics1.com

Well I tell ya......

well...good assumption...but the chassis dyno numbers are not Rebellos... good try though!

Any interest in trading an L28ET setup for a built up N/A motor?

looks like we are probably going to sell the 240z as we are heading off in a different direction with some new toys. we have 2 other race cars (Z06 and sd-455 Pontiac) and looking for a Viper and my son just got a new Yamaha R1 yesterday so his priorites have changed also.... -
i dont wonder at all...cause if you calculate the weight of our car with driver at 2710 lbs as weighed on calibrated digital 4 corner racing scales and plug it in to the 12.68 at 109.5 run we did then it is close to being accurate i think, but correct me if i am wrong. i know we arent over 10:1 compression either as we run it on pump 91 gas and have even run it on 87 octane with no problems either. anyway, its a mute point and has been argued for over a year now on exact rwhp, then we went to the track and people were scratching their heads how we did it. on a side note, the car is up for sale as we are heading off in a different direction with racing our Z06, Pontiac sd-455 and my sons new Yamaha R1 and are now in the market for a older Viper(97-2002) to race also. the Datsun has just taken a backseat to our other toys.
-
wow, not exactly a pump gas friendly engine either....
-
313 engine dyno (before any jetting changes) and 260 rwhp on chassis dyno. after some jetting changes it went to 269 rwhp then going from 2.5 to 3" exhaust our best was 278 rwhp) on our Rebello 3.2 stroker NA. thats with 9.7:1 compression on 91 octane. idles smooth at 750 and very streetable..

i kicked the idea on a trade around with my son on the engine since we are probably going to to turbo it later this year anyway. 3.2 is better with carbs than a turbo as the turbo doesnt need the extra cc's. but it was just a thought as we really dont know yet what we are doing next engine wise with it.
