  1. It was posted before, but still amazing. IIRC F50(or F40) was only leased, so maybe that's why the maker went for the replicar idea.
  2. I dunno, the panels looks really wavy. You better look at it in person.
  3. What cars are the FJ engine pulled out of? What are the advantages of the FJ engine?
  4. A bad and crazy day, long story short : There are some steel patches welded on my 260Z body shell. Generally speaking the welds are not very skillfully done(these were done before I got the car). Now that my car is media-blasted from head to toe, there are tiny holes(about 0.010"~0.030" in diameter) along the welding seams that you can see thru. The paintshop owner told me that no matter what I use to protect bare metal, when bondo is applied on the seams full of tiny holes like on my car, bondo will bubble up in monthes. My plan is to spray the entire car with Rust Bullet which is like POR15(but more user friendly, UV resistant, less finicky with topcoat)and can seal metal totally. After sealing metal with the special paint, the surface is basically a chemically inert surface with tiny holes. Then Bondo will be applied to that inert surface. The paintshop owner(he's an ole'timer with 20+year experience in this industry) insists that bondo will bubble up no matter what I do to the surface. I don't understand why would bondo bubble up even if the metal is totally coated and inert. If a piece of inert material has tiny holes on them, will bondo bubble up monthes after applied to the inert surface? What do you think? Thanks a lot
  5. Am I missing something here? What are you guys talking about?
  6. So, what you guys are saying is that I am actually my own grandpa? This is why I love this forum. Somebody should make this a sticky.
  7. Then how come people become fan of the film? Is this film officially our "cult classic favorite"?
  8. Is there such a drivetrain system that uses both a clutch plate AND a small torque converter? I am thinking...if a small tq converter and clutch work together, the clutch will not wear out as fast, the car will not stall when clutch/gas are not used properly, which is safer. The performance might suffer a bit. Comments?
  9. sho_shane, dot is the one that did the Jaguar V12 swap, you can click on the "V12Z" link in his sig. Those who had driven his car love it.
  10. Goodluck to you mobythevan, I wish you get a judge like Judge Judy on TV, who always see thru those "whiners" that pretend to be victims.
  11. Pop N Wood The nut was rounded...It can't be used anymore. Besides, flare nuts are evil, they should be punished.
  12. Tell me if I get this right : 1. Unscrew the flare nut by all means necessary 2. cut off the flared section to remove the old flare nuts from the line 3. slip new flare nuts onto the line 4. re-flare the end 5. slightly stretch the old lines(because it is shorter after cutting off the old flare) so the flare nuts can reach their corresponding orifices. I plan to sand the lines and coat them with rust bullet. Is there anything else I should pay attention to about re-using brake hard lines? Thanks
  13. Wow I just tried vise-grip on a rounded flare nut and I didn't know there are things that will not slip on a nut. Honestly I didn't know what a "vise-grip" is so I did a search on the net. It turned out to be a kind of locking-plier. So I bought a set of 2 and went home to try it. It didn't come with instructions and I never used this type of tool so it took me 2 tries to get the nut off. What a great tool!!!
  14. Nice sound and nice emblem(280Z28) How did you get the flare on the wheelwells? fiberglass?
  15. Welcome here sho_shane To answer you questions 1. 240Z is the lightest but has thin sheetmetal. 260Z is only produced for about one year. and the car gets s bit heavier 280Z is the heaviest with thicker sheetmetal, stronger body and has fuel injection and ECU. 240Z~280Z has the same body style. 280ZX is a different model. If you want the car that looks like the one you saw then you should buy a 240Z, 260Z or 280Z 2. Stock L type engines are ok, if you only want 150~170 hp. You can build a stroker but to many people here it's not worth the time and money because you can drop in a V8 or do a easy turbo engine swap from a 280ZXT 3. Depends on what you want, you can put anything in there. LS1, chevy small block, ford, Rb26dett, rb25det, sr20det, ka24, 2jzgte, 13b rotary, jaguar V12, BMW V12...these are some swaps ACTUALLY DONE by members here. 4. yes 5. ask people in the US, I am from Canada Wanting a Z really bad, fine, but getting one needs a cool head. Choose a good, low rust car to start with or you will end up like me, bought a car that is made of cheese. It will take a lot of love/energy/time/money/headache before your Z begins to love you back....personal experience.
  16. Can someone explain what is the "two nut" or "double nut" method you guys are talking about?
  17. I would sand & paint with POR15 without a second thought.
  18. ROFLMAO everybody runs faster with a knife....lol what if I lagged out there....lol
  19. Yes. small bore or short stroke or both.
  20. Wow that's quite a vacation. Sorry to hear about the ramming tho. Is the truck red btw?
  21. Well you know kids his age takes everything as a threat because of the hermones. They'll arm wrestle a squirrel who cross their path and can't wait to tell their buddies. He's prolly a low caliber character since he picked on a non-performance truck. What's next? pink tricycle with tassles on the handle bar? That'll give him a power trip. Yesterday an idiot who's driving the same car as I do(VW Jetta), tried so hard to do an illegal overtake, but since his car is the same as mine and I was already ahead of him, he can't do anything about it. Then when the traffic slows down, you guessed, he cut me off right in front of me just to show he can do it even tho there's plenty of cars ahead of me. As if he has something for show, typical "loser fly-by" mentality.
  22. Hi there Vancouverite. By "AFM upside down" you mean the air entry is still pointing forward, only rotated 180 around the axis right? I have a AFM off of a 76 L28E I am assuming the AFM is similiar to the one used in L28ET. I just went downstairs to fondle with my AFM in the garage. Here's what I think : The AFM uses a large L shaped metal flap gate and spring to "know" the amount of air flow. When the AFM is in its original position, the weight of the L-shape metal flap gate RESISTS the gate opening(more pre-load to the spring) o--- the --- arm weighs it down. valve opens counterclockwise | When you flip the AFM upside down, the weight of the L-shaped metal flap gate HELPS the gate opening.(less pre-load to the spring) | o--- the --- arm "promotes" opening. valve opens clockwise o is the pivot point Funny thing is when the flap gate opens more, weight of both arms come into play. i.e. instead of one arm adding/removing pre-load, BOTH arms adds/removes pre-load. SO the upside down deal will make your engine run rich no matter what the valve gate position is. I used my finger to poke at the metal valve and it does make a little difference when it is upside down compared to when it's mounted normally. With the AFM upside down, the AFM gate will open more easily. So the ECU thinks your engine is admitting more air in than it really is. The extra squirt of fuel makes things rich in all conditions. Try to mount the AFM in it's normal position and then test run the engine. I live in Richmond BC....if I win something let me know....HECK I would love to meet a fellow Z member expecially when they have done a L28ET swap.
  23. lol those rich kids just keep fueling the clueless stereotype
  24. good to hear the car(and you) are fine. (note to myself : buy a fire extinguisher) duh, i said "distinguisher"
