  1. To clear it up, the drone in 5/6 is from the 5/6 gear fluttering on the main shaft. I was having it at around 70MPH or ~1700RPM. To fix, you have to pull the mainshaft and have it machined to spec. This makes a very tight fit for the 5/6 gear, and eliminates the vibration. I had to do this on my last trans, and it fixed it.
  2. Don't say that, Keith! This car will have to sit for a LONG time if something like that breaks.
  3. Started on transmission crossmember last night.
  4. With my Holley EFI, I can ramp boost by gear, boost by time, or boost by wheel speed (front or rear) If I get a front hub with an ABS sensor, thats the best option as it takes wheel spin out of the equation. Or, I could just set it at 5 psi and drive!
  5. Worked on the heater hose plumbing last night. Here are the bulkheads I made. -10 Steel bung welded to a 3/8" npt bung. Inside the firewall will be a 90* elbow to a standard heater hose connection. Lots of work, but it'll be worth it in the finished product, and ease of access to heater hoses, as they were behind the pass. head before, and a real PITA to get to.
  6. I ran one pump on the last setup. This will run two all the time, and the third will come on once its in boost. I like this setup, because if a pump lays down on you, yes you can just turn down the boost and limp home. Two pumps are good to about 700 RWHP IIRC. Maybe less with E85, I don't remember
  7. Its me. I just had them weld the backing plate onto the "spindle" about .75" to the rear of factory. I haven't seen any ill effects thus far. As keith mentioned, haven't been to a road course. That would have been a better goal this year than a turbo setup..... oh well, just keeping up with the Jones'.
  8. My upper struts are in the factory location. I'm sure its probably not the best for handling. I have no idea how you could do it with what you have, to be honest.
  9. How are you going to boost reference the Vette FPR.....? Don't think it'll flow nearly enough fuel for that kind of power either. Also, I would do some research on the A1000. I have several friends with one or more burned up A1000's on the shelf. Magnafuel seems to be the choice in my circle for external pumps, but I'm sure many have success with the Aeromotive units. I'm starting to wish I'd gone with something else. 3x the pumps = 3x the fittings = 5x the cost!!!!!
  10. You wouldn't have to cut as much if you'd center the wheel in the well! I swear some japanese engineer was sleeping when they offset it. Oh well.
  11. Got some mud laid down on the "roll pan". Still need to give it a final prep, and then some paint, but it looks much better than before. Started test fitting the Magnum T56 Handy silicone coupler for a template Done Also started piecing together my fuel system. Ugh. I have a lot of fittings and line to buy. This will all be on the bottom of the tank... for clarification.
  12. I've sat in the Corbeau Clubmans that Dave has. They fit me well, and as i'm coming down to the wire, I might just jump towards them. For the price, I could run them for just a season or two and get my money's worth!
  13. If you're going to do that, don't. LOL. Make sure that manual classes have true manuals. No faceplated transmissions, no lenco or jericho transmissions. Basically you'll have the class to yourself hahaha
  14. Glad I could help. Say hello to my littal freind! Sold the t56 and Monster clutch and picked up a Magnum t56 an McCleod RST with only 3k miles on it. Apparently I was running when I took these...
  15. Doubt he'll have the car to a shell that can withstand 400 Degree temps, or I'd say go for it.
  16. need some pics, keith. I know you have a cell phone!
  17. Used an air hammer w/ chisel to take off most of the undercoating. Have to be careful not to beat up the inner fenders though. Then I used a 6" nylon cup brush on a big boy grinder. Worked very well for stripping the paint. Planning on finishing all the metal work, then etching and POR-15'ing it.
  18. I spent a couple hours cleaning the god-forsaken undercoating and paint off the inner fenders last night. I looked like a coal miner when I was done. Drivers side cleaned Pass Side before Pass side cleaned
  19. Any car over 20 years old they just crush here. It sucks, because there are NO Z cars to be found in scrap yards. Even the donor 300zx's are going away. There are a few of them in turn rows on craigslist, but I don't need a $700 parts pile in my back yard.
  20. Glad you got it to the track. Have you had this car on a dyno? Definitely sounds like its not making the power it should. What cam is in it?
  21. Hmm. Ok. I hadn't really had a big problem with warping, but thanks.
  22. Small update: I cut my x pipe in half, and made a transition to a 3.5" pipe with Vband connection. Started removing someone's poor patch job, to find... more rust. Marked Cut out, and new piece in Thats all for now. Hope to finish this out in the next couple days.
