    LSD for my 75??

LightingZ, Do you currently have a R200?
  2. Well I finally ordered my FJO with datalogging. Cost me $755 shipped out the door. Going to use palm pilot to do logging. Laptop serial port broken This person was the only person that had this unit in stock. All others are out of stock, cost more and FJO is back order for 2 weeks. www.wideband02.com is his webpage but it's not up. If anyone is interested in the same deal contact Steve SHayes@Petroferm.com and told him Ron Sotto sent you. He has left in stock... part # KWB0130 BTW when I did my reseach all I got was positive feed backs with the FJO Meter.
  3. I believe it's the WHOLE Front end. Fenders, wheel well etc.

    450hp rear end

Stony recently broke his axles and mention probably drive shaft. All you need is bigger injectors with the boost turned up to get into the 10's. He achieved 11.12 @ 120.??mph and only HAD a large IC, completely stock motor, and a SDS Engine Management with slicks of course. This is on a 260Z.
  5. Unfortunately I using the stock l28et manifold. I do notice my steel braded is no longer steel looking - looks like dull braded line. With my fuel line looking like that, one would think the fuel is getting to hot.

SleeperZ, Mine is 19" Measurements are on the link. Also shows you price. $59.xx http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=15740
  7. I'm not sure if I'm having that problem. Haven't drove the car enough. I do know when I fill up the tank my fuel pressure goes up 1 psi, I also have a malpassi fpr. Come to think of it I may have the same problem as you Pete. It does seem different everytime I start it. I either have to lean it out or richen it with the SDS lean / rich knob. I'm starting to think it's the fpr. Hey Pete, it's been long time but I'm the one who bought your carb turbo setup a couple of years ago. Well I never put it on but instead when with a full FI setup.
  8. If it's next to Krispy Creme then yes it's the Sommersville exit. Make a left at the light, make a left on the next light and Krispy Creme is on the left. I was just reminded that I have to go to a Wedding in Monterey this Saturday. I'll try to make it but I believe I'm heading to Monterey that night. I know I'm going to miss out if I don't go
  9. The deer valley area is the good place... notice no sign of ghetto anything - all new housing and stores. A lot nicer the the Krispy creme area. I was talking about the one in Pittsburg at the Rail Road exit. Sure if your not heading towards Antioch / Pittsburg Area, I'm not sure if my poor little Z can make it up that Bridge . Other wise I can meet you when you get on Hwy 4. Anyone from the south or north bay going? BTW What day & where are you guy's / gal's planning to meet?
  10. I figured that. I was told by a muffler shop. He mention it had to do with the exhaust carbon built up in the metal would cause the weld to break off. I figure if you port and shaved the metal in that area you would have good metal to weld on. I did see a few people with external wastegates modified welded on the exhaust manifold.
  11. BLKMGK, never said the FJO was slow. Actually I'm getting one. I had purchase one with(Datalogging) from HPF (I'm sure you know that shop) but ended asking for my money back because they mentioned they had it in stock but they didn't. It would be 2-3 weeks before I could get it. I did find someone who had it in stock but waiting for HPF to credit my money back before ordering another - if I don't I'll forget about it. BTW I found another one Lambdaboy $485 shipped with sensor. http://www.lambdaboy.com/main.html#PRODUCT Unfortunately they don't have datalogging and that's what I want.
  12. That sounds good idea but I heard cast irons don't weld back very good???? Don't know if this is true or not.
  13. Is this Starbucks by Albertsons? I hope not, I feel uncomfortable about that area.
  14. Davy, you weren't kidding on the size. I hope your not going twin turbo on a V8. If you are better put some wings. BTW That turbo will throw the balance off of the car
  15. At the JY you probably spend no more then $1000 for the motor with everything on it, tranny, wire harness (try not to cut it), dont forget the computer and the electric box right next to it. You should also get the fuel pump. Drops right in unless you get a T5 then you have modify the tranny mount. If you get the standard 5 speed then it bolts right up. Opps almost forgot, you'll need the driveshaft modified - I think. You do if you have a T5. Go zhome.com like Z-Gad mention - very good website.

I wonder if your diff was swap from the original owner? That doesn't sound right. If you are the original owner then wow that's weird, why would they put a weaker diff.
  17. Well done inside / out. Must be nice to have RB's available easily. Also you have shops for replacement parts. Are you far from Stony?
  18. I love this forum and I'm learning a lot, especially with this post. Sounds like the situation is squashed. Lets keep it that way. I would hate to see 2 very good technical Z dudes not get along. Jeff, I would first try with the internal wastegate since everything would be a direct bolt on or close. Then do the modifications if it doesn't work. I'm sure it would cost anything to try the internal first. Although clint78z example makes it sound like it's not going to work. I'm curious of the results using internal with a bigger setup because I'm a cheap bastard and don't wont' to pay for the mods when going to a bigger turbo plus my technical skills suck!!!! I currently have a hybrid turbo, had the wastegate hole enlargen and put a bigger wastegate flap no problems yet. If it doesn't work then at least it's been proven on this forum and others like me won't make that mistake when going to a bigger turbo.
  19. Porting make a big difference. James (240Z Turbo) said there's a lot of porting that can be done on the turbo manifold. I don't think you can get over 400hp without porting it. It would be a bottleneck.

    79 280ZX rear end

all 280z to 89 300zx had R200 diff's. Greimann got it on the money here's the same info but more detailed. I got the gearing info and conversion info from brian little's webpage. all '75-79 280ZX's had a 3.54 all '81-83 turbo ZX's had a 3.54 all '81-83 non-turbo ZX's had a 3.90 the '85-86 200SX turbo had a 4.11 CONVERSION NOTES There are 2 versions of flywheels on all '75-83 motors, coupe and 2+2/turbo. 23 lbs each. Coupe and 2+2 clutches aren't interchangeable because the pressureplate dowel holes won't match the flywheel dowels. You can use a Z 5-speed on any year Z block, and any year L28 clutch can be used, but the throwout bearing "collar" must match the style of the flywheel (coupe or 2+2). In other words, if you have a 2+2 flywheel, you need to change the throwout collar to a 2+2 version when using a coupe trans. And vice-versa. Auto trans engines have a 1/4" metal spacer between the driveplate and crankshaft, remove this when adding a flywheel. A pilot bushing needs to be installed in the crankshaft if using an auto trans engine (they didn't get one). Unless you need the accessories, don't use a big 3-row harmonic balancer in front, get rid of it. Compared to a 280Z 2-row it weighs about 5lbs more. I've read that taking 10lbs off a 10" rear flywheel is the equivalent of taking 207lb off the front of the car. So I believe removing 5lbs from the front of the crankshaft is desirable. Also, I've been told the 3-rows like to break up over 6,000rpm. Nissan makes a 1-row balancer for a reason. All balancers have identical TDC timing marks and are interchangeable.
  21. If you start it, does it die right away? I had this problem till I raised the idle screw (240sx tb) 1400 rpm, that's too high. My car is not tuned at all but idles at 750. I got some very good tips on how to tune it from Scottiegnz but I'm not going to attempting to tune my car until I get my wideband AFM with datalogging. I was amazed on the instructions Scottygnz gave me, it was better then the SDS book. Good Luck,
  22. Len, Let me guess you never had it working with your new turbo setup? That's what happen to me when I switch to the 280zxt computer. What I did or actually my friend did was get a 280z tach, swap housings and it's new a single wire setup. Connect the negative part of the coil to the single post connect in back of the 280z tach. This 280z tach also works with my SDS setup. Good Luck,
  23. OK, I have a decent sound system on my computer. My hair on my back is still standing and I don't have hair on my back.
  24. I don't think tinted headlight covers would look on my car. I tried purchasing the from Nissan but they only had one side in stock and they don't plan on getting more. I think these would go with the car. Z-YA, Thanks for the compliment. Always nice to hear when someone appreciates the hard work done to the car. <img src=http://home.attbi.com/~rsotto/misc/lights.jpg><br />
  25. BLKMGK, I contacted the guy on who was selling the WB in the Supra Forum and asked him about it. He replied it's junk but the FJO rocks. I almost ordered one today. BTW, are you at Stoich at WOT? Paul R, Your the second person who mentioned this item, does it do datalogging?
