  1. I had the same late spool problem. A cam swap cured it. I was working with about a 1000rpm power band.
  2. Update: I cleaned the board with acetone and tried to connect. Now it says it found the controller but there is no firmware loaded. I pulled the processor out and put it in another 3.0 board and it still connects fine.
  3. I got the car tuned enough to make a boosted run. Holy CRAP! I was still shaking from the adrenaline rush 10 minutes after I parked the car. This car is sick! I'm going to try to make it to the strip next sunday. Hopefully I'm in the mid 7s. Will keep this updated with results. Thanks.
  4. I only cheeked at the processor and the serial connector. I check into it some more tonight. Thanks
  5. I didn't do that. I did ohm the db9 connector. The car should still run. I'm using a known good processor.
  6. Hello. I just finished assembling a ms2 v3.0 board for my 1983 datsun 280zx turbo. My car already has a ms2 v3.57 and is running good. I removed the daughter card from the v3.57 and installed into the new v3.0. The car will not run or connect to tuner studio. Same results with the stim. I preformed the voltage and ground tests as per the assembly instructions at the 40 pin socket, all are good. I also checked 5v and ground at the db9 and is good. Everything appears to be installed on the board and soldered well with no bridging. The only leftover parts I have are for the squarewave ign input which I am using vr. Thanks....Shane
  7. Oh ok. I didn't know about that feature. Very interesting. Thanks
  8. Logged into tuner studio under basic setup/ engine Constants, the required fuel calculator recommends 7.1ms. I changed it to 4 just to lean it out. What I ended up doing was changing it back to 7.1 and leaning out the fuel map. I actually just now got the car to idle by itself. vacuum at idle in neutral (1200 rpm) is 12 inches. In gear at 1000 rpm is 10 inches. I'm not sure about our differences in pulse widths.
  9. Vac at idle is about 10". Afr is unstable but around 14.
  10. I've run from 3-5 on an msd 8202 coil. Seems to perform about the same within that range.
  11. I'm trying to tune my L28et with the ms2 and the new cam. I was told by delta cam that it is a 272/.460" lift. My idle is quite rough with some unburned fuel emissions. I had to adjust pulsewidth all the way down to 4ms to keep the plugs from fouling. Calculated pulse with is 7.1ms. How should I tune this engine? It seems to be a basket case at this point. Thanks.
  12. Make sure you're getting power and ground to the distributor while cranking. The voltage could be dropping somewhere. Also make sure the pullup resistor isn't loosing power. Make sure the grounds are good. I would definitely invest into another stim.
  13. Do you have the pullup resistor on the signal wire?
  14. it's nearly impossible to post from my cell phone. but here goes. valvetrain is very quiet. its running a kind of rough but I think I just need to retune. just an update to the thread. I have to speak into my cell phone to write this. sorry about punctuation and stuff
  15. I finally got my car running after finally mixing and matching a set of rockers that weren't ground wrong
  16. If your lash pads are thicker than.....i think, 0.170", you can't use the stock retainers. To find the correct thickness you just have to set it up and check the wipe.
  17. Keep the piping the same size or bigger than the turbo outlet. The od of the tb can be bigger than the piping.
  18. I'm not sure about an internal gate but my evo gate will open with backpressure alone. I finally figured that out one day when I was bored with 15psi. I made some pulls with no vac line to the wg and still only 15 psi. So now I control boost with just spring pressure. With an internal gate you can connect a spring between the diaphragm and arm.
  19. Yes it definitely sounds like you're loosing exhaust pressure or boost or maybe both. I rigged up a gismo to pressurize my entire induction system and was surprised at how many tiny little leaks I had.
  20. Car sounds amazing but there is no need for 13:1 compression on the street. For track only the race fuel can be justified. I don't know how meth/h2o injection would work with a carb unless you had a knock sensing system to trigger it. With a turbo it's controlled by boost pressure. Good luck on your project
  21. I wasn't having any ignition problems until I changed to the diy 12-1 wheel. Seems like a lot of folks experience problems while using it.
  22. I'm trying to keep the rear tires from spinning while the engine builds boost. I know another guy who does it and it works well.
  23. The gm coolant temp sensor will thread into the right housing. It works with no mods to ms.
  24. E85 is very corrosive. Everything that the fuel comes in contact with will need to be compatible with e85. Neither the walbro nor the stock equipment will hold up.
