  1. Yes I learned that the hard way. I just couldn't get enough airflow through my 3" thick griffin radiator on my 85 camaro. I was using a single 16" electric fan. It's just a problem you may or may not encounter when using a thicker radiator.
  2. Note that a thicker radiator needs a lot more airflow than a stock/thinner radiator.
  3. You won't need the resistor. Just set ms accordingly. Most single coils will work fine. I use an Msd 8202.
  4. Those gaskets don't seal very well so yes copper spray may help.
  5. The valves are already stainless. Larger valves are likely not needed.
  6. I bought mine from motorman. I think he's in Michigan. I used ford 5.0 injectors from 1980-85. I've been running them for several years. I had a flooding problem that I believe was megasquirt related. They were about $35 each.
  7. Just wondering if you've set your cranking rpm in megasquirt. Not sure if that will help but maybe. I haven't tinkered with ms for a while.
  8. I've been using the ITM pistons in my turbo car for 3 years. They a very durable. No problems so far.
  9. The engine that bent the rod was a small block chevy in my old camaro. I had to cut a hole in the hood to clear the air filter (carbureted engine). It had rained and water soaked the air filter and dripped into the intake and cylinder head. The engine fired instantly and bent the rod. It was cylinder #7 or 8. It immediately started knocking because the crank counterweight would hit the bottom if the piston at bdc.
  10. Yes. If I kept trying to crank it I would have damaged the starter/ motor assembly. Thanks
  11. Ok. I cut the xg1/xg2 jumper and it still connects to TS. I stand corrected there from my first post. But still no rpm on the stim. I'll try it in the car when the snow melts. I think I'm going to try a gm 7pin module to trigger ms.
  12. You can use the ford cfi injectors with a stock rail or a custom rail. They are 440cc and will work up to about 400 hp.
  13. I've seen an engine with 3 dead cylinders run great at high idle then die at low idle. How is your compression? Or maybe you're loosing spark. What are your ignition settings and what type ignition are you running?
  14. It's still connected. I will remove it and retry. Thanks
  15. I'm using an 83 vr distributor. I'm thinking about using a gm hei module and maybe a pullup resistor for tach input. Any idea how to do that?
  16. Great! It's communicating again. My problem was here, continuity between pin 12 of the MAX232 to CPU pin 13. A bad solder connection. Now back to the issue of tach input. Still no rpm on the stim. Thanks again loy. It's hard for me to fine what I need sometimes from my phone.
  17. Started working on this again. Now it will not connect to tuner studio. I pulled the cpu out and put it in the 3.0 board that I fried at that one will connect fine. Same thing happens when I try a ms1 cpu. Maybe u6 is bad? All the diodes and polarized caps are oriented correctly.
  18. Was the car running before? Or are you trying to get it running for the first time?
  19. Check power and ground at the 37 pin connector. Which board and cpu are you using?
  20. The engine backfired and died. When it backfired that is when the fuel started dumping into the cylinders. It was about a minute before I tried to crank the engine. It made about one revolution and stopped. So no I don't think it hydrolocked while it was running. That has happened to me before and it just bent the rod and kept running.
  21. Thanks for that link loy. I will try to trouble shoot my ms. Only other thing I didn't think of was to ohm my injectors, they are low impedance. I hope it is the injectors though I think it may be time to upgrade.
  22. International also uses silicone on their old 7.3L diesel that was also used in the powerstroke ford trucks. There is a 1/4" gap at the front and rear of the pan that is silicone. You just have to let it cure 24 hours before you drive the vehicle.
  23. I don't know of any. There's several that fit well. As to the op a good aluminum fabricator can take an intercooler from a big diesel truck and cut it down to fit and build custom tanks. Just pay time and materials if you find your own donor intercooler.
