  2. Thats good advice, one of my biggest regrets is buying someone elses stripped project with a LOT of parts. While I may have save some money on parts etc. I've more than spent looking at things that were modified not to my knowledge or things missing etc. If you've worked on Z's before and have a GOOD understanding of how things should be, another persons project won't be a big deal. HOWEVER if this is your first Z, buying a running or close to running Z would be a lot easier to rebuild IMO. Tyson
  3. I'd like to get a copy myself. tyson.freer@gmail.com Tyson
  4. Here are 2 pictures/photochops I'm using on with the website i'm creating. Enjoy! Tyson
  5. While that looks cool, why not move the SC to the other side of the engine? Less piping, less PSI drop, much easier routing for the IC pipping etc. I think its cool, but it looks like you're going to run out of room with everything on one side. Check out Frank280zx's recent SC mounting, i think its one of the best IMO. Good luck, Tyson
  6. Destroke a Buick/rover V8.... http://www.roversd1.nl/sd1web/v8-1.html http://www.classicbuicks.com/hpcamshafts.htm http://www.raceseek.com/buick_engine_specs.htm Not as unique but more accessible for tranny conversions etc...that and people have heard of them before.... Tyson
  7. 8. Ernie, very sad to see you go. I have always valued and trusted your opinion and knowledge on this site. You've always been willing to answer my questions in a polite and kind manner, in something where I'm an uber-newb. I'm saddened to hear that you are getting flamed by so-called "members" of HybridZ because you don't have a Z-car. Thats the same as saying members like "grumpyvette" don't know about engines because he doesn't have a Z-car. To me that is the reason we flock to HybridZ, not because each of us owns a Z-car but because we all want to share what we know, our experiences, our KNOWLEDGE, and our opinions about cars without being condemned and flamed. Again, Ernie I'm going to miss your post on Hybridz, please keep in touch if you don't mind through email. I'll PM you my address, Tyson
  9. Welcome the forum, its quite evident that you have not searched as every single question you've asked has been answered. To start, while budget swaps ARE possible (I think braap and rontyler did one for around 2k), if you CAN'T afford your transmission you should rethink building a hybrid: 1) Adapter plates are not cheap to begin with (not to mention no one makes one) 2) The Datsun 5 spd will not hold up to the power of a 350 easily. 3) There is nothing wrong with junk yard transmissions you're taking a bigger risk on the Datsun 5spd than a Chevy 5spd or Muncie 4spd to hold SBC power. I'm going to provide you with some links, to get you started. However don't expect to get spoon fed around here. http://forums.hybridz.org/announcement.php?f=93&a=2 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=565472 http://www.jagsthatrun.com You will more than likely want to upgrade your rear end to an R-200 (search "R-200 swap"). Also search for motor mount options there are a couple of good threads out there. Good luck searching... Tyson
  10. Maxtor sent me these not to long ago. Sorry for them being huge.... Tyson
  11. It does lookg like a good deal, like you said with a lot of potential. But don't want to do another project thing, in case its more than JUST the clutch master doesn't have fluid. Definitely surprised no one as picked it up yet though. Tyson BTW Alsil did you take or get any more pics?
  12. I'm thinking Clifton... this is his Sig pic
  13. Alex you didn't have to prove that I don't read no good...I mean read good...i mean well....aye...
  14. If we say you does it get sticky status????
  15. Was the car running/driveable? Its been there for a while, but never looked into it much. Tyson
  16. Reaction research rear 940z Fenders only. Spoiler, Wats, 240sx dash, silver or british racing green. Course all the other goodies of big brakes, dual exhaust, coilovers etc. etc. etc. Tyson
  17. Thanks, it was fun to do and pretty simple. I'm going to try and do a couple more, now that the aero thread is out I want to apply some of the themes/ideas. Tyson http://ps-garage.com/forum/index.php (great website for tutorials)
  18. Well here are a couple of photochops I've done. Very first one I ever did (yuck!)
  19. Thank you BayAreaZT!!! That is the one I was looking for!!! Gorgeous car, Thanks again, Tyson
  20. Guys, I've been searching for the past hour and can't seem to come up with anything. There was a Blue Z31 with ZG flares on it posted on HZ, best looking Z31 I've ever seen. Of course now I can't find pictures of it, does anyone remember this car or have the pictures of it? Any information on it would be helpful thanks! Tyson
  21. Easiest way is create a photobucket account. www.photobucket.com upload them there and then just copy and paste code into your post reply. Tyson tyson.freer@gmail.com
  22. Drop_Team_Z also start reading all the FAQ's on ls1tech.com Forced induction section. Especially since your looking at using the LQ4, they have a lot of basic general questions answered as well as a lot of experienced guys with turboing your same motor. Tyson
  23. Do you have any pictures of it? That'll help out a ton! Where are you located in CA, I might be interested. Tyson
  24. Why not? A lot of guys have been using Holset HX35's etc, on inline 6's with GREAT success. "Might" be a bit oversized for Twins on a V8, I highly recommend you pick up Corky Bells "maximum Boost" book, it'll give a very solid foundation for your build and what you need. I'm thinking of picking me up some 6.0 truck manifolds for shits and giggles to see if they'll fit. Good luck, Tyson
