  5. Derek, do you know what type of furnace they are using? A lift out crucible furnace? Tilting furnace or cupola furnace? I'd love to see some pictures of their setup. Also what type of sand are you guys using? I've been reading a lot of Steven Chastains book's with a lot of enjoyment and had always wanted to do what you're doing. http://stephenchastain.com/store.htm Thanks, Tyson
  6. Any pictures of the jig and build stage? Those look awesome!!! Also how are you doing the steering column? Am I just not seeing it htere? Tyson
  7. Anyone heard of these cars? Opinions? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-Lowster-kit-car-hot-rod-roadster-free-freight_W0QQitemZ260208089268QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260208089268 http://lowster.net/ Looks like it could be a fun quick car to build for like a CA18 or a Hayabusa motor or something. It doesn't SEEM too bad price wise but idk, just figured i'd look for some conversation on them. Tyson
  8. Yeah John that was me. I'm in school down in LA so I miss most of the meets now-a-days. Should be back for a couple of them though, would love to see your Z at the shows. Car looks great in the pictures and I'm sure better in person!! Take Care, Tyson
  9. Glad to see you posting here new40z. I've seen a couple over your post over on http://www.centralvalleyz.org ... Tyson
  10. Looks like a standard MSA urethane bumper with brake ducts, Type II side skirts, BRE spoiler, ZG fender flairs, and custom Dual Exhaust. That what you're looking for? Tyson AKA. One too many drinks EDIT: don't forget JDM Fender Mirrors and an Vildini Motorsports SR20DET swap.
  11. I've always wanted to do an MG MGB: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/v8_conversions/ http://www.aluminumv8.com/conversion/conversion.htm But with an SR20 or rotary or Northstar V8, etc. etc. Tyson
  12. Here are mine, Centerline Big Surs 17x9.5 with a 4.5 backspacing powdercoated magic black to match the Black Fender Mirrors. No on the car pics unfortunately: Tyson
  13. Problem with a mini-van is well I'm 22yrs old college student, don't get me wrong they serve a function I just don't see me in one. VW's vans are cool, kinda of a neat nostalgic surfer look to them and have always been a fan, but how do they handle? Power wise can they handle steep hills (i-5/grapevine)? The avalanche is interesting, I've been in them before and like their ride etc, it qualifies weight wise to fit under my dads construction business. But its smaller than the 02 Crew cab diesel (for sale) that was my DD before moving to LA. Still have until about febuary to decide. Thanks for the input guys! Tyson
  14. Cool look cars!! On the Yellow G-nose Z, do you have more info on the hood? Looks awesome!! Tyson
  15. I'd like to be able to store a 10ft in a car if at all possible, for when I'm in class. If that means laying down a seat and setting int all the way up to the dash or what. Right now after talking to some fellow surfers and seeing their cars and such, I think a tacoma extended cab with a camper shell might be able to hold one going through into the cab. Roof rack on top for when I don't have to lock it up. Thanks for the help guys, Tyson
  16. Hmmm well that sucks. I'm kinda pondering the idea of a Toyota tacoma with a campershell and roof rack. Also looking into the roll down rear window kits for when i need to store it on the inside. Thoughts on that idea? Tyson
  17. I had at one point. The problem is, I want to be able to store my board with me. I.E. For going after class etc. I don't really want to store my board on my car for 8hrs of classes in a parking structure. The subaru wagon is a strikingly good idea, AWD, sporty, lots of room. Thanks guys, Tyson
  18. Hmm thanks for the input guys. Seems like i'm leaning mostly towards the Jeep Cherokee, moslty because of the 4x4 and what seems to be pretty good MPG. The wagons are cool, the 510 wagon would rock, my concerns though and it falls in with the VW is reliabiility and old age for a DD not requiring more than regular maintenance, and loosing some creature comforts of AC/Heat, power windows, etc. My Z is out of the question, cause its still on jackstands and isn't any better than the 626 really for transportation, comfort, etc. Budget is no more than 15k, the lower the better of course. Thanks, Tyson
  19. Okay kinda of an odd question, but trying to find a decent surfing forum has been a major PITA. So back to good ol' hybridz and its diversity. Right now I'm driving a 01' Mazda 626 and its a decent car, but its killing me wanting to go surfing. Currently I'm riding a Bill Stewart 10ft board, I love it, for the areas I surf, but its a BIG board. I'm looking for a vehicle that can hold 3 to 4 surfboards at a time, biggest of course the 10-footer a 9'6" (brothers board) and then another 8-foot Fun Shape board (for larger breaks). The big kickers are I need decent MPG (+17 mpg or better), it can't be a large truck (apartment parking and school parking, etc.), it needs to be able to handle sand and be easily cleand of said sand. So far this is what I've been considering: Old VW Van 1990's Style Jeep Cherokee (MPG ???) Station wagon of sorts (ideas?) Toyota Tacoma Toyota 4Runner Honda Element I need the vehicle to be rugged but not a junker, still look respectable of sorts. Any ideas or welcome!! Thanks, Tyson
  20. So I was looking at this and talking with TeamNissan about it. I was curious if you were to run this style of setup to behind the transmission and have them cross there where the X-pipe would be, if you could get the same style of sound and performance? If the header tupbes are too long does will it hurt the performance? I can't help but think of my LS1 with 180 headers and the ITB's..... Thanks, Tyson
  21. Gotta be on your toes Ron...when its halftime its posting time!!! Tyson
  22. I've always enjoyed taking pictures but never really got passoinate about it until around 6 months ago. I went out originally going with a Film Canon Rebel K2, which was fun and great but I use a digital median ALL the time. About 3 months ago I purchased a Canon Rebel XTi 10mp and can't be happier!! Outside of looking finding a Canon Zoom lense I've fallen in love with photography. Glad to see you've been bitten by the bug, be sure to post your results over here http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116982&highlight=Post+photography Tyson
  23. Both Harrop and Kinsler offer them in the 50mm size as standard. Poor assumption by most is that they need that size based off of what Harrop and Kinsler tell them they need. The problem with trying to find the definitive on the LS1 intake is it changes. Some 02 and up models came with the LS6 manifolds which flow better. IIRC 99-01 manifolds are different as well. I have a book at home that should list all the CFM for each year, I'm currently on vacation right now until next week. The only concerns about my setup that I've heard have been about the runner length. I'll run my setup as is first then if need be add your extension tubes to MEET my needs as they arise. Thanks, Tyson
  24. A while, hopefully summer time. I have the whole month of January to get work done with no distractions so massive chunks of the bare chassis to completion will be taken care of. Tyson
  25. I'm working on it I'm working on it!!! These parts are even cooler in person, i spent and entire day playing ITB engine http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127335&highlight=ITB%27s Tyson
