  1. I know Auston240hoke has done it. I've read on a couple other powdercoating forums that it is possible. I wish I had a specific thread for you, but I remember it on here too. Tyson
  2. Search for user Alf, he's done a 350 SBC swap into a Z31. As to buy the mounts, I don't think anyone does sell them, so it will be a custom fabrication. A couple of users' have done it, but there isn't too much info out there, best of luck searching. Tyson
  3. Sorry guys if we are not allowed to comment yet, you can delete the thread if need be. 1) Who is SDI? I've been searching online and can't find a website and until 15 minutes ago had never heard of them at all. 2) Also where'd you guys purchase the Vortex generators? Most of the other products I saw used where readily available from the known large suppliers (MSA, Classic Datsun, etc.). Thanks a TON for all the hard work!!! Tyson
  4. CONGRATS ON THE FEATURE!!! Even if its not a real technical magazine its still a real popular and I'D be PROUD! Tyson
  5. NeedforZ thats what some of the LS1 guys were complaining about is that it'd increase cabin noise. I don't know for sure if it would be the same on a 240z though I'd figure it would increase the noise somewhat. It doesn't matter much to me because well I like to hear the motor all the time... I think i'm going to try it with mine and see how it goes. Tyson
  6. Drive faster, then the water just rolls off the windshield I'm Tyson, South Central Cali...about 1.5-2hrs away from most of yall. And yes Bakersfield is pretty close to this...
  7. Thanks Mike and Glen! I'm assuming both of your are using JCI mounts correct? I had figured either removing or moving the latch somewhere else. Thanks again, Tyson
  8. Couple of questions: 1) Does the Throttle body and the MAF have to have certain spacing between the two? (i.e. can the MAF be 1" or 6" away from the throttle body and does it have any significant effect performance?) 2) Can anyone tell me what the spacing is from the rear of the intake manifold to the firewall is? What I'm trying to do is flip the intake manifold like this: http://www.ihp.com/GTR/Construction/gtr_construction_engine.html I want to do essentially cowl intake pulling in through the wiper vents and allow more room to vent from the radiator like Terry and 74_5.0 or similar options. Something similar to this, but for an LS1: Thanks for any help, Tyson
  9. Yes I had gotten them off ebay about 4 months ago or so, no longer in my ebay log. As Chino has already said they do drop directly in on the 280Z vented hood, I had test fitted mine briefly putting things in storage. Tyson
  10. I have a set of those as well, I haven't installed them yet. They were about 100 dollars give or take...I like the look a lot IMO, just a little different than the standard vent covers. Tyson

  12. Best advice, don't do an engine swap if you're on a tight budget. A 1977 will be a 280z not a ZX. I'd highly recommend you spend time searching on upgrading/replacing stock parts on your. Make the car reliable, a stock Z will be blast for a learning autocross car, when you get used to driving it stock or slightly upgraded and you have some money saved up, then look into upgrading your engine. Start small and don't get caught up into the engine swap if you're going to have to cut corners on the build. Welcome to the board and USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION, it will make you stay here much easier on you and everyone else. Tyson
  13. You callin me a girl!!! jk jk You know your Z in that Kit Car Magazine (which i still have btw) is what got me hooked into Z's, seeing the clean lines and widebody, I was sold!! What are your plans for the next round of mods? Tyson
  14. Then stay away from the Northstar, its not a cheap motor to work with at ALL. When you get into converting it to RWD you just upped the cost a lot more. I'm guessing your wanting a DOHC V8, small displacement, high-ish revving V8? I'd recommend the VH41DE, different than a VH45DE, a little smaller displacement and I've never seen one in a 240z before. Tyson
  15. Pretty cool! I've been trying to find some sort of case to do for a couple of hard drives and PC's. I think that turned out pretty slick though.. tyson
  16. Its not a bad idea, the motor is a good. I think the biggest reason that you don't see many of them swapped or ever seen one swapped is the motor is relatively expensive in comparison to more popularly swapped and more powerful (in stockish form). I still think it would be cool to see an FJ20 honda 4cyl in a 240z, so if you can afford it go for it! Tyson
  17. Are these guys readily available? I.E. Local paintball shop should have one? Don't want to have to order online, if I don't have too. Tyson
  18. Sweet!! Thats really funny, I was thinking about going out and buying my first gun tomorrow. Without a complete thread hi-jack any recommendations, for a relatively inexpensive gun, low maintenance, just for playing around with? That thing looks like it cost one PRETTY penny . Thanks, Tyson
  19. Yeah, I was meaning front indents around the lower front valence. Like Mario said, get a front lip to go with it as well and complete the look. Tyson
  20. Use your search function, its been discussed before. Couple of threads on putting 240/260z bumpers on 280z's. Short answer is the 240/260 ones will not fill the indents as well on a 280z. Tyson
  21. I had that same thought...it would look cool, but I think you'd get less questioning if you were to go with BRE paint scheme. I say go for it though, Tyson
  22. Doc are you driving up from Dan's to Cozy's place? Just curious if you'll be passing through the Bakersfield... Tyson
  23. While I respect the amount of work in it, I also am not really a fan. It just doesn't seem to flow very well IMO, good work just needs to be refined for that price tag. Tyson
  24. Good gravy that thing is fast!!! Any specs or still shots of it? Tyson
